You don't HAVE to have a cross fader, you can just use the respective decks individual fader, though fading would require 2 hands and be a great pain in the ass!

I dunno, I prefer mixing with linefaders only... Makes for easier blending, crossfader is reserved for quick cuts or scratching.

It depends on whether you do smooth transitions or if you like to cut and juggle. I use different transitions for different songs or styles.

That's the right answer! I used to juggle with the xfader set to a gradual slope and my transitions sounded awful and hacky. Reading about fader curves opened up a whole new world of DJing for me! I try my best not to use the same transition twice in a set if I can help it.

Scratching is percussive, not musical. Check out a decent scratch DJ like Qbert to see how it can compliment a song. Qbert says he models his patterns after rappers' voices.

It's a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. King Arthur wishes to pass the Black Knight, who won't let him. Arthur, after trying to negotiate, starts fighting and lops his arm off. Thinking he's won, he try's to get through and is surprises when the knight won't admit defeat. Arthur points out that he removed his arm, to which the knight replies "It's just a scratch". It's on YouTube. Do yourself a favour and watch it.

My opinion is based on being a python fan, whenever I see "the black knight" written, I assume a python reference. To me it is clearly meant to be a python joke, so not setting it up/referencing it is a mistake.

My biggest issue is not necessarily one with the OP it's how reddit (especially /r/funny and /r/pics ) are being filled with constant reposts by people that have missed the original joke or not understood it and tried a different spin. To me (again I may be wrong) it seems the average age of a redditor has got a lot lower in the last year as the level of immaturity and reposting has sky rocketed. The use of down votes for disagreeing and up votes for agreeing has made karma a popularity contest, which we (should) all know, isn't what it's for. Also the abuse people get for having a different opinion is just silly.

Wrong place to have that rant, but I stand by it.
