What do people find enjoyable about 3 hours of advertisements, bad calls, and overall boring athleticism? Wow, he can throw a ball and get run over by six guys. The only sport I find mildly interesting is boxing and whatever Takashi's Castle is.

well the athleticism is pretty awesome. And the bad calls are unfortunate but you take the good with the bad. Once you get so invested in a team you can't turn away... I guess that comes from being involved in sports all my life. Also, how do you think athleticism is boring? Watch this:

Honestly, I couldn't make it through the first minute. I respect that these guys are in excellent shape and can do stuff that I could never dream of, but it just feels so mundane. Maybe if there were a tl;dr version without ads and the boring bits, I could watch it.

That's why Takashi's Castle, and even Wipeout appeal more to me. It's always about 30 seconds between someone doing something either awesome or funny. They aren't sports by the standard definition, but they are highly athletic and exciting to watch.
