I'm not a mother dog, so I can't really speak to this, but one may be able to imagine that multiple sets of razor sharp puppy teeth anywhere on her body (since momma dog is generally the puppy horde's preferred target), but especially the nipples, is a good reason to be generally despondent.

In my opinion, it is an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I have a female AmStaff and a male APBT. From my knowledge (not an expert or anything) Amstaffs tend to be lean and muscular where as APBT tend to have broader heads and more stocky in body. Granted there are fluctuations in size so you can have AmStaffs whose body can make it appear as an APBT, and vice versa. This is my opinon of course. Sorry for such a long reply.

I was thinking the same thing. I've got a Staffordshire and the older dog in the pic looks almost identical to mine. The head size/shape is what got me wondering.

I think you've got it backwards. While the dog in this picture looks like a Staffie, Amstaffs are usually much stockier than APBTs. If the dog you are talking about is bulkier than the dog in the picture, I think you may have an American Bully.
