thank you for proving exactly how many times this gif gets reposted.

[–]Snowzilla267 -1 points0 points ago

We're all proud of you, you made this enjoyable and somewhat entertaining post look like an unimaginative piggyback of many before if.

In a perferct world, everyone would spend half as much time as you did here to see if their post had already been posted, and the amount of good posts would go down by... A lot... Because nothing's worse than a few butthurt redditors who've seen your post somewhere else months before...

[–]chemimangia 4 points5 points ago

So stop posting gifs in reddit and get a new job.

[–]BaronVonSlapNuts 0 points1 point ago

reposting

FTFY.

[–]Ottoblock 5 points6 points ago

If you wouldn't bitch about your job, this wouldn't be a problem. If you want a new job, I'm pretty sure you know what steps to take. If you're looking for someone to hold your hand, good luck.

[–]rushingfox 9 points10 points ago

This Gif is getting old. It really isn't that hard to find a job anyways.

[–]Furthea 2 points3 points ago

A job may be easy to find but they're not necessarily easy to get. You've got 20, 30, 40, hell who-knows-how-many people applying for one position if it's a good job, the kind one will keep for a majority of their career.

There's a reason the turn around is so high on those 'easy to get' jobs.

[–]rushingfox 0 points1 point ago

The key is persistence, yes you most likely won't get the first job you apply for. You might have to work a minimum wage job for awhile until you actually get a career job, or you may work your way up to ladder at your minimum wage job.

[–]Furthea 1 point2 points ago

Oh, I don't have a problem with starter positions at the places I'm applying (most which do start at minimum wage, but aren't places with electronic drive-thru service). I was mostly making a partial objection to your observation that jobs aren't that hard to find. It's good, long-term jobs that are hard to get. Heck, right now it seems that just getting pulled in for an interview is unlikely. I'd probably be less irritated if I'd heard something from most of the places I've put in applications for the last two months.

[–]NeutronRocks -1 points0 points ago

Tell them to let you know the results afterwards, regardless of if they accept or deny you.

[–]Furthea -1 points0 points ago

heh, by "heard something" I mean get called in for an interview, though one company at least had the courtesy to send out an automated response that they'd filled the positions.

[–]MadreDios -2 points-1 points ago

I'm getting fucking sick of it to be honest. It's not even a reaction gif that can be used in different contexts, it's always "When someone tells me to get a job hahahahaha".

Urgh.

[–]mathius123 5 points6 points ago

You know, I HATED it when people told me this when I felt I was stuck in my previous position. It wasn't helpful at all. However, I think this is just a quick way of saying, "Well, if you are not happy in your current position, time to update your resume and play the game again. Your chances are higher at getting a new job by putting all your energy into finding a new one than to let the current one upset you so much." I can't tell you how happy I am in my new position. Looking back, I no I didn't see it at the time, but I learned A LOT about what to look for in the future to avoid types of workplaces I know I won't be happy in.

[–]ZebubXIII 3 points4 points ago

you and everybody that's posted this before you.

[–]Irma_Gerd 5 points6 points ago

Well... why DON'T you find a new one? No matter who you are, no matter what the fuck you do, there's always something better. If you can't find it, you're not looking hard enough. Or at all.

BTW, in five years time I've gone from not even breaking $17,000 to pulling in closer to $60,000 a year because instead of just whining about how much my jobs sucked I found better ones.

[–]KaiserDragon -1 points0 points ago

Oh so because you were able to do it that means that millions of better jobs just opened up, THANK YOU!!!

[–]Irma_Gerd -1 points0 points ago

Look harder. There is ALWAYS something better. Always. EDIT Granted, you might not find it right away. It can take months for that perfect opportunity. But if you're being proactive rather than being a pussy you'll find opportunities arise quite quickly.

[–]NomadicBit 0 points1 point ago

[–]irascible 0 points1 point ago

Always punny in Silladelphia.

[–]death_to_the_stupid 2 points3 points ago

"Just find a new one" is the polite way of saying, "Stop bitching about the same old shit. If you're not happy with your life, change it." Sadly, many people would prefer to remain in the same shitty situation and bitch about it constantly, rather than make any attempt to improve their situation.

[–]VocalChuyito 0 points1 point ago

I predicted the GIF that was going to appear on here before I clicked on the link. I was right.

[–]ephew -1 points0 points ago

Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called everybody, and they meet at the bar.

Drew Carey

[–]boredextremely -1 points0 points ago

That's the point of telling you to get a new one. As someone who doesn't have one, stop fucking complaining that you get paid to do something.

[–]Iamadinocopter 0 points1 point ago

stop reposting it and perhaps you'll get one

[–]Rexluna 1 point2 points ago

Even though this is really old, I'll always love it because it is so tre

[–]Jejoisland 0 points1 point ago

Nice repost, I think your titles might actually be identical lol

[–]Kyle_Crafty 0 points1 point ago

I posted this on facebook a LONG time ago O.o

[–]MitchRude 0 points1 point ago

I'm gonna repost this shit in three months and see if I can grab 500+ karma points. hell I might even repost it again tonight. It always does well when it pops up.

[–]Thunder_eater 0 points1 point ago

SO TIRED OF THIS GIF. KILL IT WITH FIRE. STOP IT REDDIT!

[–]attackzeppelin 2 points3 points ago

Oh, come up with some OC? Just come up with some OC? Why don't I strap on my OC helmet and squeeze myself down into an OC cannon and fire off into OCland where OC grows on OCies?

[–]fairbianca 0 points1 point ago

don't understand all the hate for this gif - I LOVE it. Then again, I can't get a job :/

[–]FrankenswinesLobster -1 points0 points ago

Ridiculously long subtitled gifs frustrate me.

here is the video of those lines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzs-4kY4REc

[–]hereticjones -3 points-2 points ago

Have you tried? And by tried I mean really, really tried...

Polished your resume and kept at least three different versions and a template so you can tailor one if necessary to given postion?

Searched for job listings and submitted said resumes as appropriate for at least two solid hours a day, longer on the weekends?

Created custom cover letters for each submission?

Called and/or emailed to follow up with prospective employers, as much as possible, given how many listings don't provide adequate contact info to do so?

Submitted your resumes and a cover letter to staffing agencies? Don't turn your nose up at contract/temporary work. Many places will go through temp/staffing agencies so they don't have to deal with hiring/firing as much, and it can lead to a great job if you can impress your employer and get hired full time.

If you haven't tried, you should try. I won't say "If you haven't worked to change it you have no right to bitch!" because that's a bullshit, unhelpful response.

I hated the fuck out of my last job. Absolutely hated everything about it. One day, my bosses boss (a complete fucking fuckbag of a fucking tool who I would punch in the face reflexively if I saw him on the street) accused me of all kinds of bullshit that I did not and would not ever do.

That was straw that broke the camel's back. From that day on I spent every spare moment I could stand scouring job sites, applying to jobs with custom tailored resumes and cover letters, submitting to staffing agencies in case they could find me a good fit, and so on.

I was very picky because I didn't want to leave one shitty situation and end up in another. Finally, I found my current job and it is fucking awesome. I work at a great place with a great bunch of people and it's great!

It was a lot of hard work and it took me three months of solid hunting and interviewing but it was so totally worth it. If I had just wanted any ol' new job I could have had one in two weeks but I was being picky because I wanted to love my job.

Good luck. It's possible and you can do it, you just have to, well, actually do it.

[–]grania17 2 points3 points ago

No offense butthis is extremely condescending. As someone who has spent the last six months trying to get a job and only succeeding in the last week, your comment upsets me. I have four different resumes tailored for each job I have experience in and could apply for. I also write a personal CV to every application and call back and check after submitting application and interview. I also send thank yous after the interviews. I pretty much applied for any job I felt I could do. I spent at least 4 hours a day online looking for and applying for jobs. I would also go into town and walk around and look for ads in shop windows etc. I went through 20 different interviews and every time I was told I was great, wonderful but another candidate had just a little more experience than I did. I study my ass off before every interview so I am completely prepared. I don't even get nervous anymore because of the number of interviews I have done. I finally got a job last week. I live in a city where unemployment is 24% and higher in my age group. Don't be a prick please.

[–]hereticjones -3 points-2 points ago

You could just say, "Yes I've totally tried. I try my ass off."

Don't be a prick please.

[–]simperingfool -2 points-1 points ago

Getting a job's like getting laid: people bitch incessantly about how hard it is to do or how arbitrary are the metrics used to evaluate good prospects, yet everyday many people are out there sealing deals and closing business (people probably dumber than you), you get better at if you actually take risks and try, unless you're gifted you're going to fail a lot in order to get better, sometimes you have to drastically change your lifestyle/outlook to get what you want, and people generally think they are entitled to something much better than they've ever done anything to deserve or put the work into to attain.

[–]chefbender1123 -2 points-1 points ago

If you can't find a job you're not looking hard enough

[–]serosis -1 points0 points ago

It is easy to find a job, but it is difficult to find a job that you will not hate within a week.

[–]LaughterAndChaos -3 points-2 points ago

find a job you hate,

do it,

put it on your resume as your employed,

apply for a job you want,

in the interview, tell them you're so desperate to work you'll even work the job you are currently working,

get the job you want.

[–]fractals_ 2 points3 points ago

Employers generally want someone who wants to work for them, who isn't just looking for the next opportunity. Saying you're desperate isn't going to get you a job (or anything, really).
