This is because posting "I agree!" or "Yeah, totally!" adds nothing to the conversation/discussion and is basically an upvote, but more annoying.

If you're going to agree with someone, upvote them. If you're going to comment in agreement, at least add something that is also somewhat insightful to a different viewpoint, adds more information to the discussion, or is at the very bare minimum witty.

People downvote for no reason. They see it at 1 or 0 and downvote just to make it negative, or they see it already negative and think "oooh follow the crowd, downvote further, must make people feel bad" but welcome to the internet, where everyone is fake and no one likes anything. Except for cats.

Agreeing with someone on here is fine, as long as you don't say "this", "i agree", "i agree with you", "i completely agree".

"As a <insert some crap nobody cares about>, I agree with this" is the only acceptable form. Reddit is a weird place.
