http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzCrjSlb80o

For those who will be looking for the video.

[–]mackums 551 points552 points ago

From Russia. Of course it's from Russia. Of course.

[–]prmaster23 284 points285 points ago

Just think about it, all these videos are coming just from Russia/Ukraine. Think about the quantity of videos that will show up when Chinese people start using dashcams.

[–]Linktank 170 points171 points ago

Wow seriously. I want India too while we're at it.

[–]remaker12 124 points125 points ago

Bollywood Dancing, Bollywood Dancing EVERYWHERE

[–]GiPes 21 points22 points ago

SINGHAM!

I saw the movie, it is terrible, but it is terrible in an awesome way, never been so conflicted about anything in life...

[–]hcgator 10 points11 points ago

Bollywood dancing? Bollywood martial arts?!? Bollywood dancing/martial arts?!?!? AND A MAGNUM PI PORN STAR MUSTACHE?!?!?!?!?!?

I would watch that movie SO HARD!

[–]GiPes 8 points9 points ago

Here. Subtitles available.

[–]euroski 31 points32 points ago

Bollywood dancing, as far as the eye can see

[–]toxicFork 11 points12 points ago

>dash cams

>bollywood dancing

sounds legit

[–]BlackDeath3 24 points25 points ago

How about Saudis?

[–]pulpish 5 points6 points ago

this is silly, shocking, and awesome

[–]Endyo 14 points15 points ago

As someone who spent some time in India, I can safely assume 99% of the video would be a seemingly infinite traffic jam.

[–]ned_krelly 5 points6 points ago

You want videos of thousands of people sitting around not doing anything while cows walk with you up the street?

[–]brazilliandanny 29 points30 points ago

We should start a charity where we air drop dash cams to other nations.... you know for the lolz and such.

[–]greginnj 5 points6 points ago

I guess you probably missed this little incident, then. Not exactly a dashcam, but it does give you a taste of what's to come...

[–]ILoveTrance 29 points30 points ago

Dashcams are encouraged in Russia. It can help your case a lot.

[–]Seakawn 11 points12 points ago

That's smart as fuck of a thing to do. So it's no surprise that it's not a norm in my country.

[–]newtothelyte 12 points13 points ago

This is not the end if it. The driver then continued to beat the shit out of the semi truck driver, then he hand delivered the cargo he was carrying.

[–]iamjamin 8 points9 points ago

In Russia truck drives you

[–]Ciaran54 43 points44 points ago

That music is so calming, especially with the fact that it carries on even after the crash.

[–]FlutterShy- 11 points12 points ago

Does anyone know the song?

Edit: Я куплю тебе новую жизнь "I will buy you a new life."

[–]DevaKitty 4 points5 points ago

Unless you have a Russian keyboard, I think it's gonna be hard.

[–]FlutterShy- 4 points5 points ago

I can always copy/paste the cyrillic characters that I need. Sometimes, you have to work hard for 3-5 minutes of entertainment.

[–]ctzl 4 points5 points ago

[–]whubbard 54 points55 points ago

[–]lostmygravitas 29 points30 points ago

Why do people do this? Putting up videos with 90% nothing?

[–]whubbard 22 points23 points ago

Because they want to watch the world burn?

[–]lostmygravitas 16 points17 points ago

It's more like they want to watch grass grow for 9min then watch the world burn for the last 60 seconds.

[–]PiGaKiLa 16 points17 points ago

Did that truck ever have a windshield? I can't see any evidence of it.

[–]Alex1233210 2 points3 points ago

It comes off as one and slides out of view under the car or near the front of the car anyway. (pretty lucky really)

[–]MagicMr 10 points11 points ago

[–]whubbard 11 points12 points ago

You were seconds too late. I'm sorry.

[–]constipated_HELP 2 points3 points ago

Thanks. Couldn't figure out what was going on until I watched that.

[–]SaladFengasPapit 1063 points1064 points ago

All of a sudden you are walking on the road instead of driving. That really must have twisted his mind. Edit-grammar

[–]KaJashey 440 points441 points ago

If he used a seat belt and he wouldn't have that problem.

[–]mokronnabis 116 points117 points ago

“Seatbelts, pfft. They kill more people than they save.” – Homer

[–]Beard_on 202 points203 points ago

Is that from The Iliad or The Odyssey?

[–]YournameCartooned 121 points122 points ago

[–]Beard_on 32 points33 points ago

Dude... that... was... AWESOME! Made me LOL. Good job!

[–]YournameCartooned 34 points35 points ago

Mission Accomplished.

[–]Afrodgiak 15 points16 points ago

I suck for taking 15 mins to figure out what was going on here

[–]WaterChestnut3 6 points7 points ago

I thought the 'n' was an 'h' and I thought it was referencing homer (ie Beer... D'oh!). I am not a clever man.

[–]Tashre 1247 points1248 points ago

THEN HE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN SAFELY THROWN CLEAR OF THE WRECK.

Seatbelts; the true killer.

[–]phreakymonkey 603 points604 points ago

Unfortunately, there are people who actually buy into this logic. The statistics, however, are far from in their favor.

[–]steviesteveo12 618 points619 points ago

If your plan in an accident is to fly to safety, there's a limit to how much other people can do to protect you.

[–]Crim91 267 points268 points ago

This is why you should always wear a wing suit while driving.

[–]RoboRay 105 points106 points ago

And a flotation device can't hurt.

[–]theDTs 57 points58 points ago

But that's what they said about seat belts!!!

[–]Ye_Be_He 51 points52 points ago

And always have a gun, you know, in case there are other people with guns.

[–]Deafiler 28 points29 points ago

And another gun, in case somebody tries to bring a ladder into your house.

[–]thedarklordkyp 16 points17 points ago

That’s why I own 10 guns!

[–]chiagod 271 points272 points ago

This gives me an idea... We should allow people who don't want to wear seat-belts (and helmets) the opportunity to do so with no legal repercussions so long as they sign an organ donor card.

They will then receive a new license and a decal to apply to their vehicle (so they won't get pulled over constantly).

It will be customary to address those individuals as "Tribute" and to give them the farewell greeting "May the odds be ever in your favor".

[–]TubeZ 129 points130 points ago

This kills the organs.

[–]Innomasta2 77 points78 points ago

Nah, just tenderizes em a bit

[–]TubeZ 28 points29 points ago

If by a bit, you mean a mangled, bloody, teared up, soupy mess of proteins and fluids that somehow once came together to form parts of a human being before being tossed into what one could only guess as a blender, then yes. A bit.

[–]Forlarren 52 points53 points ago

Whoa, whoa, whoa. There's still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going.

[–]MadMageMC 6 points7 points ago

Whoa, whoa, whoa. There's still plenty of meat on that bone.

We used to hear this all the time when I worked at the meat processing plant. "Clean them bones! Clean them bones! You don't go home 'til you clean them bones!"

[–]jtregoat 1 point2 points ago

now that's what I call soul food

[–]W00DERS0N 2 points3 points ago

Cannot give enough upvotes.

[–]JoshIsMaximum 13 points14 points ago

chiagod for prez!

[–]CauseItsTrue 8 points9 points ago

I see no negative side to your logic. upvote

edit| I think the benefits largely out weight any of the freak occurrences listed below. Organs are a damn scarce life saving commodity

[–]Submerge25 23 points24 points ago

How about the other passengers riding along in the same car who decide to buckle up and have this idiot flying around in the cabin, killing everyone instead of no one?

[–]SirAdrian0000 9 points10 points ago

A clause for passengers safety then. No buckles are allowed when riding solo only.

[–]jsmith84 8 points9 points ago

This is how beurocracy is formed.

[–]sliceofsal 34 points35 points ago

Yup. I met one of these people. She was a nurse in the ER, of all things.

She was very energetic and all smiles, but kind of oblivious. The topic somehow came up and she's like, "Oh yeah, I know people who got more messed up from seatbelts then from the accident itself! Don't wear them!" The doctor just stared at us awkwardly and mumbled to her, "Yeah, don't say that..."

The kicker is that out of six people in the room including the patient: one was a firefighter, one was an ex-EMT/now safety specialist and one was a cop AND a firefighter. So, unbeknownst to her, half of the room was emergency service-people. Needless to say, her advice didn't stick.

[–]Ritos 53 points54 points ago

Thats because dead people don't go to the er room ER

[–]Neckbeard_Prime 19 points20 points ago

Nor do they use the ATM machine.

[–]hoodis 13 points14 points ago

They probably couldnt remember their PIN number.

[–]CitizenBum 26 points27 points ago

Well from her perception, she only probably sees the survivors that wore seat belts and got jacked up. Those not lucky enough to survive the crash never made it to the ER. I can see how her view could be skewed. Still pretty crap advice from a nurse.

[–]ronin1066 9 points10 points ago

I was in a defensive driving class (pre-airbags) and this guy pipes up with "My buddy had a seatbelt cut right thru his stomach! I ain't wearing my seat belt!". All I could think was, what in the hell would have happened to him had he hit the steering wheel with that much force? Idiots.

[–]sliceofsal 3 points4 points ago

Haha, eyup. If I had to guess, this guy's buddy probably wasn't wearing his seatbelt high enough. If he was, it really shouldn't have been hanging around the stomach area too much. They're suppose to catch your sternum and pelvis, which can handle the g-forces a little better. A little.

A lot of people wear their seatbelts incorrectly and then when they get hurt go, "Look at how horrible these injuries are!! I'm never wearing mine again!" And then the emergency service personnel I know sigh and grumble something about job security. ;)

*Edit: I assume that by stomach, the guy meant the abdominal area. I highly doubt the seatbelt sliced through his buddy's ribcage and into his actual stomach.

[–]SkaveRat 139 points140 points ago

natural selection

[–]revile221 57 points58 points ago

Yea it's amazing how one could make the conceivably wrong choice and it ends up saving their life. Aside from the accident itself, the sheer shock of surviving due to negligence must have weighed on his mind for quite some time.

I was the opposite, for had I not been wearing my seatbelt, I surely would have gone through the windshield at 100 65+ mph

*edited for scientific accuracy.

[–]playswithsquirrells 14 points15 points ago

He didn't survive due to negligence, he survived despite negligence. He would have been just fine wearing a seatbelt.

[–]aznoble 38 points39 points ago

Wears seatbelt then drives 100 MPH! Good choice

[–]MangoCats 2 points3 points ago

Not altogether clear from the gif that he would have fared worse if he was wearing a seatbelt.

[–]Program_These 11 points12 points ago

Mmm, don't you love logical fallacies?

"I heard of this one time that not wearing a seatbelt saved a guys life. Obviously that means seatbelts are dangerous!!!" :O

[–]SimonWest 6 points7 points ago

i didnt think it was compulsary in lorrys/trucks?

[–]Kela3000 17 points18 points ago

compulsary

I'm pretty sure this is a somewhat foreign concept in Russia.

[–]nickphoto 22 points23 points ago

I'm pretty sure a lot of Russians are all too familiar with the term.

[–]MrMuntzz 2 points3 points ago

Zingski!

[–]kamiikoneko 6 points7 points ago

Seatbelts: liberal conspiracy?

[–]omegaaf 3 points4 points ago

most truckers dont. If you get into an accident with a tractor trailer, the car is the one thats going to be pancaked, not the truck.

[–]BlinksTale 24 points25 points ago

*a, Mr. President.

[–]SaladFengasPapit 5 points6 points ago

Thank you

[–]EnigmaSoul 6 points7 points ago

Looks like a regular day for Jason Statham.

[–]Akiba89 11 points12 points ago

Man i hate days like that

[–]Pragmataraxia 7 points8 points ago

You may just want to edit now before you're crushed under the weight of responses scolding you for using "all of the sudden" instead of "all of a sudden"... as though their version somehow made more goddamn sense.

[–]formfactor 2 points3 points ago

Hell no, did you see his perfect dismount? This guy does this all the time!

[–]Billy_Sastard 276 points277 points ago

Fun fact, the 3 point seatbelt was invented by a Swedish inventor for Volvo but they never patented it because they wanted it to be implemented in all cars because it was such a massive life saver.

Good guy Volvo.

[–]Lucky75 106 points107 points ago

Uh oh.

Guess the iBelt will be released in 2013 then.

[–]MindlessDreamer 10 points11 points ago

Built in camera, you can also use facebook on it

[–]xid 10 points11 points ago

But it requires a custom adapter to plug into the car AC.

[–]uptwolait 1 point2 points ago

And first installed in American cars by Preston Tucker in 1948.

[–]Billy_Sastard 4 points5 points ago

Wrong, yes it had a seat belt but not a three point one, it was probably a lap belt, the 3 point wasn't introduced until 1959.

[–]Linktank 578 points579 points ago

Dude I don't know if you're the same guy, but this was posted as a video and deleted like 4 minutes ago. Way to go on the GIFing.

[–]Tashre 947 points948 points ago

Its a well documented fact that ain't nobody on Reddit got time for YouTube videos.

[–]ClassyMuffaFucka 500 points501 points ago

I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THESE VIDYAS!!

*spends 2 minutes waiting for gif to load

[–]asbestosmask 50 points51 points ago

Let the gifucking begin.

[–]drempire 10 points11 points ago

something about the first gif that makes me want to watch more

[–]drempire 8 points9 points ago

what is that first Giff from and is it legal for me to think what i am thinking

[–]Seakawn 12 points13 points ago

It's legal for you to think whatever you want... at least, as of 2012, it still is anyway.

[–]poops_on_midgets 6 points7 points ago

Year 1.

[–]massrabbler 30 points31 points ago

What`s that third one from?

[–]gbimmer 191 points192 points ago

The Dawn of the Internet

[–]bonkus 78 points79 points ago

On the third day, Al Gore created the Crazy Frog Bros, and it was good.

[–]NerdusMaximus 12 points13 points ago

Never seen this in a non-gif context before... it's even better.

[–]gbimmer 39 points40 points ago

[–]Zephy73 5 points6 points ago

We seriously need to find these two kids all grown up to do an AMA

[–]APimpNamedSlickGif 14 points15 points ago

[–]gbimmer 9 points10 points ago

[–]F0REM4N 27 points28 points ago

Aint nobody got time for that!

*guess I should have checked the other reply's link. I'll just leave here in case anybody wants to get jiggy.

[–]Forever_Awkward 14 points15 points ago

Thank you for that. I not only wanted, but needed to get jiggy with it. a .gif just doesn't cut it.

[–]BigBadMrBitches 2 points3 points ago

That is my first time seeing this vid, but not my last.

[–]cynicproject 7 points8 points ago

I personally believe it's not the loading time that bothers people about videos, it's the sound that comes along with it. You don't get sound with a gif, which is a restriction that's definitely embraced here.

[–]wintercast 49 points50 points ago

more like i cannot view them from work, so i for one really like the figs

  • gifs.. and i am leaving the figs....

[–]Awesome_Bob 30 points31 points ago

[–]HeyCarpy 24 points25 points ago

Hold up. That's what a fig looks like?

How do they fit them in here?

[–]CaptainCraptastic 26 points27 points ago

[–]simeon94 8 points9 points ago

I like how the Unicorn horn on his shirt flashes.

[–]willscy 4 points5 points ago

I miss Even Stevens. That was the only really good show to come out of the Disney channel.

[–]ohnosharks 3 points4 points ago

Oh I love pig newtons.

[–]tiradium 4 points5 points ago

what the fig?

[–]Armpit-Vagina 10 points11 points ago

I always wondered about this. I never saw the point of watching a stupid gif when you could watch a video, so I guess that makes sense.

[–]r00x 26 points27 points ago

It was also on /r/carcrash earlier, in full video form.

[–]killit 38 points39 points ago

There's a /r/ dedicated to car crashes?!?

[–]r00x 26 points27 points ago

There is. Reams of videos, crash compilations, etc. Fascinating stuff if you're interested in road awareness or just feeding morbidly curiosity (there's also a subreddit for that, but... damn, that place is horrible.)

[–]killit 17 points18 points ago

If there's one thing I've learned more than anything else whilst on reddit, it's that people are far more morbidly curious (aka fucked up) than I ever imagined!

[–]r00x 11 points12 points ago

/r/MorbidReality is a gruesome, cruel, heart-wrenching testament to that fact.

It has got to be one of the worst places on Reddit, seriously.

EDIT: clarifying - I am not against the subreddit or its users, I'm just saying it is quite horrible/distressing to browse.

[–]jess_sp 17 points18 points ago

Interesting opinion, considering that right now in /r/MorbidReality 's home page there's a post about some redditor that tried to help a car crash victim and stayed with her to the very end.

[–]r00x 20 points21 points ago

That's a great example! That's horrible, heart-wrenching stuff. Exactly what I'm talking about.

EDIT: clarifying - I am not against the subreddit or its users, I'm just saying it is quite horrible/distressing to browse.

[–]c4ntr34dth15 21 points22 points ago

/r/MorbidReality is not cruel. We're just the type of people that want to be aware of the bitter side of society. The world is fucked up and we take the red pill to become aware of it. We take no joy in suffering.

You're thinking of /r/gore. Compare and contrast the comments and self post in these two reddits.

We look down on content that suggest suffering and violence is sexual and/or humorous.

[–]lilstumpz 12 points13 points ago

As the creator of /r/MorbidReality, I can confirm this.

[–]A_British_Gentleman 4 points5 points ago

theres a subreddit for everything. Rule 34 of the internet part B

[–]smashing_pumpkins 2 points3 points ago

TIL.

[–]AJS1991[S] 74 points75 points ago

I wish. I literally have no idea how to make GIFs.

[–]softmod 605 points606 points ago

It's actually pretty easy. All you do is post the video to reddit and about 10 minutes later a gif of that video just appears on the front page. No clue how it works, but it's pretty cool!

[–]sexualHairAssMint 11 points12 points ago

Haha, funny thing is, a script could be made to genuinely do that :P

but then it'd have 45 seconds of pure fuck all before hand...

[–]kolr 12 points13 points ago

I prefer scripts that do it disingenuously.

[–]TigerTrap 7 points8 points ago

Attach &wadsworth=1 after each video link, usually gets rid of the stupid stuff. The Wadsworth constant is real!

[–]matt01ss 14 points15 points ago

Haha so true

[–]DISLODGED_TAMPON 20 points21 points ago

I imagine it's similar to making an animation...in that I also don't know how to do that.

[–]PerilPhoSho 5 points6 points ago

Watch a video on reddit? YOU DON"T KNOW ME.

[–]ColdHotCool 24 points25 points ago

Did he drive into superman or what?

[–]ephemeron0 7 points8 points ago

fell asleep > hit guard rail > swerved > panicked oversteer > jackknifed > fuck it, i'll just walk

[–]RedneckWineGlass 39 points40 points ago

Horizontally striped shirt? Check. Track pants? Check. Being completely fucking indestructible? Check.

Yup. Confirmed for Russian.

[–]abrohamlincoln9 93 points94 points ago

"god damnit, you ripped my favorite flannel shirt, thanks alot guy!"

[–]EnvyAdams 74 points75 points ago

I will slep you fucking guy!

[–]MemoryLapse 11 points12 points ago

Someone make an alot-guy.

[–]Likely_not_Eric 16 points17 points ago

[–]MemoryLapse 2 points3 points ago

Thank you

[–]WilliamMcFly 57 points58 points ago

So what was the truck driver thinking? I'll just turn left here at full speed and fuck the other guys?

[–]emetres 78 points79 points ago

It looks like he swerved to avoid hitting the truck in front which was stopped. This is why you keep your distance.

[–]mievaan 68 points69 points ago

I sort of thought he was dozing off at first (drifting off to the right), the suddenly woke up and did a way too big correction move to the left.

[–]SFGiantsAllTheWay 27 points28 points ago

I feel like it was a combo of all of that. Started dozing off and drifting off to the right then wakes up and realizes he doesnt have time to stop to avoid hitting the truck in front of him, so he swerves and makes an even bigger mess....

[–]pirate_doug 12 points13 points ago

That's what it looks like to me.

He's drifting right, like he's dozed off. Then, he wakes up suddenly realizing his error. The truck in front of him has stopped to make a left turn (you can see the road going left in the video). He has no time to stop, so he cuts hard left to avoid hitting the truck in front of him.

Superman then jumps out the window.

[–]11oops 14 points15 points ago

And never swerve into oncoming traffic. What a dumbass decision.

[–]Feltron 6 points7 points ago

If you watch the video it looks like theres a street or median-slicing road right there, I think hes trying to make a left turn quickly and beat the other truck and just totally missed the timing. No turn signal though so I'm not sure.

[–]Jazzspasm 145 points146 points ago

The internet is a lot better since Russians started installing dashcams

[–]Seakawn 45 points46 points ago

That's something with as much action as in an action movie, but with the gratification of knowing it was reality. It's wild.

Thanks, Russia. Thussia.

[–]godofallcows 4 points5 points ago

I too, saw the YouTube comment posted here a while back.

[–]freakflagflies 12 points13 points ago

I do believe he just used up ALL the luck for the rest of his life.

[–]Rag3niv 4 points5 points ago

Yup, he was struck by lightning just out of frame.

[–]Daysleepin83 37 points38 points ago

What is that he is ripping out of the cab? Is that the driver?

[–]Auspants 36 points37 points ago

That guy is the driver, he gets flung out of the cab and that "ripping" you see is him letting go of the wheel after his ass slips the seatbelt and gets thrown sideways over it.

[–]Daysleepin83 8 points9 points ago

Ok you are right, i looked at the exploded version of the gif makes it much clearer.

[–]AlexEatsKittens 8 points9 points ago

The guy is the driver of the second truck. The fabric you see is, I believe, the jacket he was wearing that got caught on the glass.

[–]Cubix__ 9 points10 points ago

This was from Portreem's channel on youtube. He works for a Russian insurance agency or something because he always has new crashes EVERY day.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Portreem?feature=g-all-u

[–]schnappischnap 22 points23 points ago

[–]MuzzEmil 17 points18 points ago

Opened at work, nudity was ON and fucking vaginas and shit everywhere.

[–]ohnosharks 30 points31 points ago

click

[–]specularr 4 points5 points ago

This is a great idea for an environmentally aware super hero.

[–]hkckoo 5 points6 points ago

Unbreakable.

[–]Acetylglucosamine 3 points4 points ago

Russian people are like cockroaches. You think they're gonna die, but then they don't. And if they do, they keep on coming back. Examples: Rasputin. This guy.

[–]Parker2010 7 points8 points ago

This is what happens when you let Mimes drive a truck.

[–]Pokemon_Name_Rater 3 points4 points ago

That's not how you play Truck Dismount.

[–]notAtomicBaum 4 points5 points ago

The Russian judge awards a 9.7 for the dismount.

[–]dangoodspeed 3 points4 points ago

[–]BeerFarmer7 4 points5 points ago

Does everyone in Russia have a dash cam?

[–]Charmalandosaur 19 points20 points ago

Who on earth are these people who film all the time when they are driving?

[–]ebonythunder 44 points45 points ago

Russians.

[–]realchaos1 3 points4 points ago

GoPro everywhere. I heard in Russian, there are people intentionally getting in accidents and blaming other people to scam money from insurance or people.

[–]ldemi 27 points28 points ago

Dash cameras dude. They film in 5-10 minute segments. If you get in an accident or somebody tries to throw themselves in front of your car you have 5-10 minutes of footage ready to go.

Not sure why I don't have one honestly.

Dash-mounted cams are very poplar now in European countries (as well as Russia, particularly), because incident rates of vehicular insurance fraud are much, much higher over there. Lots of people have cams mounted to their dashboard to make sure they have video proof if anyone attempts to jump out in front of their car or, as I've personally seen in one of these videos, intentionally reverse their car into the owner of the dash-cam, so as to cause a 'rear end' collision at seemingly the cam owner's fault.

they do this as an option in Russia, instead of paying for auto insurance. this way, the person that causes the accident can be made to pay for it with video evidence.

Personally I like the idea. I only heard it from a reddit comment so I'm sure my understanding is not complete, but that's the jist.

Some auto insurance companies in these countries require drive cameras recording at all time to make solving disputes easier

It's not uncommon to use a dash cam.

Can someone please explain to me how he survived?

[–]Jack-a-Lope 2 points3 points ago

He'll just be killed Final Destination style anyway, we all know it's coming.

Him and his friends will now be killed off in a series of very unusual events.
