Light the Beacon!

Oh my God. Took my breath away thinking about his foot slipping or something and tumbling down the side of that.

[–]BaconChapstick 1 point2 points ago

Exactly my thought. There's no way he'd survive that.

[–]savanik 3 points4 points ago

Sure he would. He's tied to his buddy, holding the rope in one hand so it doesn't get tangled, and his other hand has the ice ax he'd use to help arrest his fall.

But seriously, if he slips, his life is mostly in his buddy's hands. Do you have anybody you'd trust enough to catch you if you fell? Literally? Off a cliff like this?

World's best slippery slide though.

Crazy. Anyone know where this is?

[–]trashfather 6 points7 points ago

It's the summit ridge on Eiger in Switzerland. Link

I think I just swallowed my testicles.

Pardon me while I go get my crampons out of the attic and see if there is enough change in the couch for a plane ticket.

[–]desbaratto 0 points1 point ago

Thanks. The more I look at the ridge the more I think NOPE. Plus the Matterhorn looks awesome - where's the roller coaster?

[–]SpicyMcHaggis 2 points3 points ago

Here's a speedclimb.

[–]desbaratto 1 point2 points ago

he was running along the ridgeline - totally awesome!

[–]totallynotsquidward 2 points3 points ago

Why don't they straddle the ridge, instead of staying totally on one side?

[–]assclown3 2 points3 points ago

If you are standing exactly on top of the ridge, you have to balance perfectly. This way, you can lean slightly toward the ridgeline.

[–]totallynotsquidward 2 points3 points ago

Thanks, that makes sense. I would be scared shitless regardless

Those clouds look magical. Holy shit I love clouds.

I'm sure he knows better than me, but man my instinct would be to put my feet closer to the top.

[–]zeroair 1 point2 points ago

I look at this, and think, if he fell down one side or the other, how very very very far he'd have to go to get back to the other side, or the other.

[–]Emily_MI 0 points1 point ago

I can promise I will ever do that, I am absolutely terrified of heights. Beautiful though no doubt.

[–]agrecruiter 0 points1 point ago

Do you have more?

[–]kcg5 0 points1 point ago

Great picture. And its the Eiger, not even half the height of Everest..

Eastwood movie taking place here.

I ate lunch at the base of the Eiger one year. On a roof-top cafe just under the north face. There aren't any words. That climb is epic. Actually, it's easier in the winter than in summer (the Spider in the middle of the face is blank rock and needs ice build up to make it safer to climb).

False.

The shape of the planet Earth is approximated to an oblate spheroid and does not have edges.

Are you fucking kidding me? This image was posted 8 months ago, on a subreddit that has 244 subscribers, and you're fucking crying about this being a repost?

Holy shit man. Get real.

[–]Raziel66 0 points1 point ago

Which subreddit was it posted to?
