If it's an important event that you want to remember, I recommend using a real camera. But, I don't care if I forget today.

[–]b0xcu77er 28 points29 points ago

Erin is probably the cutest TV show character that I know of.

[–]Drlongbong 12 points13 points ago

I shit you not a kid threw away his disposable camera on our 6th grade Washington DC trip and said something similar.

[–]pryoslice 8 points9 points ago

Thank you for not shitting me.

[–]Drlongbong 4 points5 points ago

You're welcome

[–]Therapist13 11 points12 points ago

i thought this was an instance where they tried to make her look TOO dumb and ditzy. in my opinion she has more of a naivety, and didn't need to go that far. still a funny joke though.

[–]kellogn2 24 points25 points ago

This is the reason I dislike her character. She plays it very well, but I can't stand the stupidity.

[–]harDhar 14 points15 points ago

Ditto. I like her as the foster child looking for a role model, it makes her a very unique character on the show. But the forced stupidity makes for cheap laughs imho.

[–]nicknamed_nugget 9 points10 points ago

And yet you chose Kevin as your flair

[–]harDhar 0 points1 point ago

Just stay away from my enimems.

[–]AJRiddle 7 points8 points ago

She is just a plain caricature of a dumb but cute girl, and a bad one at that. This is the reason the Office has gone so downhill. Seasons 1-5 were about plot and jokes revolving around the plot. The last couple, and especially season 7 have been about one liner jokes and ridiculously exaggerated characters like Erin, Robert California, and Nellie.

[–]dinochop 12 points13 points ago

Are Dwight and Creed suddenly not exaggerated characters?

[–]AJRiddle 1 point2 points ago

Creed always has been and has always been one of the weakest characters. Dwight is Dwight, and his character still has some levels of depth despite being outrageous at times.

[–]Glu-e 1 point2 points ago

Do Erin and Robert not have depth? Dwight has had eight seasons to develop. Erin has had 3, I believe. Yes, the newer seasons aren't as good, but you're using rose-colored glasses to look at the past.

[–]slowro 0 points1 point ago

Robert is all over the place. Sometimes he seems like he is really well put together, and other times he take him in a different direction.

[–]Glu-e -1 points0 points ago

So you're saying he acts differently in almost every episode? That you can never predict his reactions? That he reacts in a human way to various situations? Sounds like character depth and dynamics to me.

[–]ukjohndoe 0 points1 point ago

I'm guessing that because of the format of the show, Robert doesn't quite fit there. It's a comedy show and they're all super-stereotypes but Robert California didn't quite fit in with his multiple-persona deal, he was unpredictable, yes, he reacts humanly...Well, I don't know about that. But that's not how it is in The Office most of the time.

In every episode, Ryan is a hipster. Kelly is super-needy. Kevin is silly. Oscar is (stereotypically) gay. Angela is stuck up. Creed is random. Meredith is white-trashy. Michael is childish. Jim is a prankster. Dwight is a bit paranoid and has very little common sense.

Then comes Robert California who is very unpredictable and super-sexual. That's his thing.

I think most people will agree Robert C. was an okay character. There's a reason he's out this season.

[–]Glu-e 0 points1 point ago

I don't agree with the idea that the characters are super stereotypes. Yes, Jim is a prankster, but he's also a hopeless romantic, a doting father, and a smart worker. Yes, Ryan is a hipster as of the last few seasons, but he's also an exceptionally smart MBA who rose to the top only to burn out due to his own immaturity. Yes, Michael is childish, but he's also a man who would do anything for those he loves. There's so much depth to these characters that puts The Office so far ahead of many modern sitcoms and places it among the likes of Arrested Development or The Simpsons. To ignore the dimensions of these characters beyond their surface is an enormous disservice to the show.

[–]ukjohndoe 0 points1 point ago

I agree that Robert California was all over the place. Sometimes he was an insane boss, sometimes a really smart guy with ulterior motives, some other times he was some sort of con artist (changed his name, is very persuasive, told stories that made me think he 'used to be' someone else or hid his past, usually was enigmatic).

His whole super sexual persona was funny and I think he developed quite a bit in that episode where he got divorced. As much as I like James Spader, the character "Robert California" I didn't like. He felt a bit forced.

Sort of like with Will Ferrel's character "Deangelo Vickers", Robert and Deangelo felt rushed and they (somewhat) developed "on the way".

I like Will Ferrel and James Spader...but their characters didn't make it for me. It's not like I was expecting another Michael Scott in them, I gave them a chance!

[–]roguewave 9 points10 points ago

I'd say Michael's absence combined with the addition of Nellie is more responsible for the show's decline than Erin's stupidity. It's interesting that people actually love the stupidity with Community's characters but think it detracts from the Office.

[–]NotSoSlenderMan 1 point2 points ago

I've not seen a character on Community this dumb. They all lack life experience and common sense, but they aren't borderline retarded.

[–]sevenalive 7 points8 points ago

Britta: “It’s called sarcasm Troy, ask the goat to explain it to you.” Troy: "And if all we need is an escape goat…I think we could just let this one go".

Hilariously done and it's more subtle so people notice less. All Tomato. S1 Troy.

[–]omgwtFANTASTIC 0 points1 point ago

Troy has also gotten much more stupid over time. If you go back and watch the beginning of the series, he's much more of an airbrained jock, but now he's just "comically" dumb. And it's annoying.

[–]slowro 0 points1 point ago

They kinda dumbed down Abed too. Where they get Annie to move in Abed doesn't know how to wash clothes.

[–]omgwtFANTASTIC 0 points1 point ago

I'm not certain that it's so much dumbing him down as making him more out of touch with reality, but you're right, all of the characters have become more like characitures than they once were.

[–]AJRiddle 3 points4 points ago

It isn't just Erin, it is the caricaturization of former great characters, which is made much worse by throwing in new and very shallow characters like Erin.

[–]sevenalive 1 point2 points ago

and Parks & Rec's Andy.

[–]kellogn2 0 points1 point ago

Thank you for saying this!

[–]Decyde -1 points0 points ago

You do realize she is acting like a lot of women that work in office places right? I fucking hate Kelly but she plays the part of the office bitch quite well. Annoying, loud, talkative and you just want to punch her in the face.

[–]kellogn2 0 points1 point ago

I work with some stupid people, but Erin is at a whole new level.

[–]biesterd1 2 points3 points ago

Why is it that anything ever posted here turns into a discussion about how bad the show has been since Michael left? If you don't like the show anymore, just stop watching it and let everyone else enjoy it.

[–]loveypower 0 points1 point ago

i too sometimes feel like a functioning retard. it's okay erin. there's a special place for us all.

[–]mtbsean -4 points-3 points ago

I propose a new meme... "Erin logic". Someone get on this please.

[–]maz-o 7 points8 points ago

I propose no more memes.

[–]compromised_account -4 points-3 points ago

Is this from a recent episode? This is funny. But that love affair just ruined the show for me. So i'm definitely a season behind. Parks and Rec is better in my opinion. Especially after michael left.
