guys. just because it's a repost doesn't change the fact that it's a viable response to how F.E.B. felt at the party. I'll admit, it isn't original, but hell, what is these days?

also, i feel for you. idk about these guys, but yes, certain kinds of people do say yolo where im from. not to mention how frightening 13- and 14-year-olds can be in a group. i mean, its not their fault--hormones, i guess, but not as much as you'd think. its mostly that they've been thrown into this sea of sudden self-awareness, and they cling to certain people, who seem to have a more established sense of self, like a life-vest, no matter how wise it is. they do the same with established fads, like YOLO, because it helps them to identify themselves in the world. they don't just use fads and personalities, though. to feel protected, they use doublespeak, mean/self-deprecating humor, and strange jargon. however, when you get right down to it, the one piece of flotsam that they always hold to strongest, and the one that causes the most trouble, is their past selves. they're smarter than we give them credit for, but they honestly have no idea what to do with themselves besides just exist, because thats all they've had to do up until this point. adults don't just exist, they make themselves a part of the world, they change and affect things. teenagers suddenly have the ability to do this, but don't know it, and don't even sense a difference in themselves. as such, they seem like dicks from the outside, because all they know is to be dependant, even though its time to grow up and strike out alone. its tough, y'all. i've been on both sides, as most of us have, and being surrounded by teenagers is almost as scary as being one. cuz then, all that angst, all that craziness, has beaten down your doors and pulled down your walls. it's inside you. and you don't know what to do with it.
