I feel bad for that one kid that doesn't have a twin.

[–]SKY0NYX 262 points263 points ago

9th wheel

[–]dominick79 6 points7 points ago

Oh god yes

[–]KathrynTheGreat 112 points113 points ago

I don't, he's the only one who's actually unique.

[–]gjhgjh 87 points88 points ago

But he has no spare parts now... errr, I mean brother his own age to play with.

[–]Silversol99 28 points29 points ago

“I had a quicksand box as a kid. I was an only child... eventually.” - Stephen Wright

[–]kerdon 1 point2 points ago

Is he related to Phoenix?

[–]hawksterdh 49 points50 points ago

He can always play with his own parts.

[–]Cervical_Mucus 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, but as a little one he probably doesn't realize that! :(

[–]SunnySideUp_MD -3 points-2 points ago

As an identical twin, I hate you.

[–]Fuglypump 5 points6 points ago

fortunately for him, your hate is only half as significant because you and your other you share significance.

[–]SunnySideUp_MD 1 point2 points ago

[–]potted 5 points6 points ago

The other one is in the attic.

[–]WNxJesus 5 points6 points ago

Maybe he does but his twin brother is taking a picture O.o

[–]GingerRaceFTW 5 points6 points ago

You should be happy for him. My little brothers are twins, and they hate it.

[–]AsianSensation3 2 points3 points ago

As a twin, I hate it to. But that kid is lucky because he probably won't be sharing rooms

[–]Marokiii 6 points7 points ago

only the 2 oldest boys are twins, every one else is completely normal. the older daughters just seem to be of similar age and appearance.

The cousins are also genetically full siblings. And the siblings are also genetically the same people.

[–]aggatt 16 points17 points ago

the siblings are also genetically the same people

No, only the ones that are identical twins would be genetically identical. The siblings would share a lot more genetic material than normal siblings would, but thanks to crossing over and recombination, the siblings wouldn't be identical.

[–]CaptainYoshi 3 points4 points ago

Yeah but all the siblings except the one are identical.

[–]aggatt 9 points10 points ago

pretty sure the girls aren't, they're just close in age.

[–]AdmiralUpboat 2 points3 points ago

You're being downvoted for the truth, how sad.

The daughters are not identical twins, they are just of similar appearance and age.

[–]Birdslapper 3 points4 points ago

could you explain this to me please?

[–]phoenix25 7 points8 points ago

Twins share the exact same genetics, it was just doubled during growth in the womb. So technically the kids from family A and family B are actually full siblings, not just cousins.

[–]Birdslapper 10 points11 points ago

that brings marrying your cousin to a whole new level

[–]Homer69 9 points10 points ago

In states that you can marry your cousin these kids would not be able to. They actually have a law for kids of married twins.

[–]Karnadas 1 point2 points ago

Let's take this in perspective of the twin boys.

Their father and mother each gave them some of their genes to create the children. Their aunt and uncle gave some of their genes to the cousins. However, both mother-father and aunt-uncle have the SAME genes, so the twin boys and the twin girls were able to withdraw from the "same" gene pool. They are four different parents, but there are only two variances in genes (between the men and women).

Does that clear it up??

[–]Karnadas 0 points1 point ago

Alright well best of luck to you in figuring it out :)

[–]jessesomething 0 points1 point ago

I thought it bent to the left... WHOOPS!!

[–]repeal56a 18 points19 points ago

Pimp my sister......oh wait

[–]TiredOfAtheismSpam 27 points28 points ago

Now if we can only convince the descendent twins to marry their twin cousins, we can have three generations.

[–]dont_press_ctrl-W 31 points32 points ago

They are genealogically cousins are genetically brothers and sisters. That would be weird.

[–]lopo4 8 points9 points ago

I saw that post.

[–]miss_thang 2 points3 points ago

Me too!

[–]VitQ 3 points4 points ago

Oh boo hoo. The Targaryens wed one another for centuries.

[–]nineteen_eightyfour -1 points0 points ago

But what would the weird thing look like? We must know.

[–]unique_pseudonym 0 points1 point ago

I clicked on the comments specifically looking for a reference to this.

[–]geckahn 2 points3 points ago

they're genetically siblings so that might not work out too well

[–]Roflkopt3r -1 points0 points ago

I recently heard that the risks are actually far lower then previously assumed, because in the past data was manipulated and/or conclusions overdone to fit political agendas. This is pretty much to how in the past many scientists lied about their results in research related to homosexuality. In the case of homosexuality, things changed fortunately. But incest won't get a strong lobby of course, so everything that is revealed about that now doesn't gain as much popularity.

I guess it typically goes "Oh, you found out that [something society doesn't like, e.g. incest] is not as harmful as previously thought? I suggest you don't publish that, if you prefer keeping your job".

[–]inajeep 0 points1 point ago

What is this, Noah's ark?

[–]tuttibossi 5 points6 points ago

i feel bad for the youngest boy..

[–]jooblie 6 points7 points ago

Is that one kid adopted?

[–]catfoodsushi 13 points14 points ago

Sauce.

[–]Flopsey 3 points4 points ago

DAE get the instant idea, "We should breed twins to twins until it becomes a constant trait certain people have, and then start breeding them into the population to make all people have twin births." And then realize this is insane and evil, and worst of all probably wouldn't work.

[–]fenixforce 4 points5 points ago

insane and evil

Yeah, and the worst part would be it not working...ಠ_ಠ

[–]backstab 1 point2 points ago

Identical twin isn't a genetic trait iirc. (accidental cell division) Fraternal twin is genetic trait (multiple egg release)

http://multiples.about.com/od/pregnancy/a/familytwin.htm

[–]Adddddie 4 points5 points ago

Wouldn't the adult twins be in-laws though? So they married... Whatever. Nevermind.

[–]Yoshiya_Kiryu 14 points15 points ago

Twinception.

[–]EINSTIEN420 2 points3 points ago

kinda takes the fun out of wife swapping

[–]Tictac_123 6 points7 points ago

Yo dawg, po' lil fucka ain't got no twin. Dat shit cray.

[–]homeallday 1 point2 points ago

Wonder if they're from the Calla. Or maybe they will be part of it in the future! That little boy without a twin will be all right, at least.

[–]remhawk99 1 point2 points ago

The youngest one believes everyone just looks the same.

[–]12Moments 1 point2 points ago

Best use of this meme in a while.

[–]inajeep 1 point2 points ago

So no one is noticing that the right guy is giving the affectionate arm on the shoulder move and the other one is turned away from the wife. I think there is some adult wife/hubby swapping drama going on in the background.

[–]gildedyak 1 point2 points ago

I noticed that, too. And also the lonesome wife looks a little less cute than the one getting affection from her husband.

[–]TSaurusX 1 point2 points ago

C-C-COMBO BREAKER

[–]Curtalius 1 point2 points ago

They should do a picture with the youngest (non twin in the middle) and the family be spread out symmetrically around him with a symmetrical background.

[–]JayFay75 1 point2 points ago

This family lives in my neighborhood and they are very nice people. Their two houses are next door to one another and the fence between the back yards has been removed. They used to have a dog that would spend alternate nights with the kids of each house. Pretty cool setup, IMO.

[–]vinfx 1 point2 points ago

After the first spouse dies, it's going to suck for the surviving spouse having to watch their sibling run off with someone who looks identical to their dead spouse.

[–]joeyofthejoe 1 point2 points ago

The single kid is lucky, no chance of going roont from the wolves now.

[–]dingledangler 3 points4 points ago

Do the parents have trouble figuring out who is who?

[–]KathrynTheGreat 11 points12 points ago

No more than any other parent with twin children would

[–]KathrynTheGreat 8 points9 points ago

Yes. But what about the kid who doesn't have a twin? Would his cousins be considered his siblings because they have the same genes as his actual siblings?

[–]elegos513 7 points8 points ago

Yes, because both sets of parents are genetically identical, so the cousins are genetically siblings.

[–]DerManiac 1 point2 points ago

Siblings, but not twins.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]passonce 4 points5 points ago

fraternal twins are genetically the same as regular ol' siblings

[–]thatoneagain 2 points3 points ago

This is hurting my brain.

[–]1O1I0III01O10I1O01 2 points3 points ago

they would only be as similar as brothers

[–]LoCHiF 0 points1 point ago

I vaguely recall that likelihood of having twins is a somewhat genetic/inherited trait.

I think there's a town/area in South America somewhere that has an incredibly high twin rate as a result.

EDIT Thar ya go: Candido Godoi

As best as I can tell the Mengele stuff is nonsense.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

fraternal twins can be hereditary. identical is a random occurence mostly.

[–]PaleWithBlueEyes 0 points1 point ago

This isn't surprising since twins are more likely to have twins.

[–]backstab 0 points1 point ago

I think that's just an old wives' tale when it comes to Identical twins. Fraternal twin-ism might be a result of a genetic trait that releases multiple eggs.

http://multiples.about.com/od/pregnancy/a/familytwin.htm

[–]srodolff[!] 0 points1 point ago

The little boy probably snapped and killed his twin brother.

[–]Bassmonster27 0 points1 point ago

parents on the left are a lot uglier...whaaa?

[–]talrath2002 0 points1 point ago

My first thought was "wow, there are only 5 distinct people in that picture"

[–]davesfakeaccount 0 points1 point ago

THERE ARE FOUR CHILDREN. (OCD Captain Picard)

[–]Theyon 0 points1 point ago

I feel bad for the Grandparents, that has to be confusing.

[–]PotatoPotahto 0 points1 point ago

Now does this mean Couple 0 had a set of twin daughters, and couple 1 had a set of twin sons, or did couple 0 have a daughter and a son who are identical to couple 1's daughter and son?

[–]Nihilophobe 1 point2 points ago

While the latter is technically possible, it would be very, very, very, very improbable.

[–]MugatusDog 0 points1 point ago

Genetically this makes the kids siblings

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

they must have really boring sex if they're swingers.

[–]DerpinNinjaa 0 points1 point ago

And them there was the one that had no identical twin

[–]Hudek 0 points1 point ago

Expected incest, checked the subreddit. Happy to see it wasn't IGTHFT

[–]McKrakahonkey 0 points1 point ago

Just think about the family gatherings. That must be one confusing ordeal.

[–]camibarrera 0 points1 point ago

What about the lonely kid on the left?

[–]cn45 0 points1 point ago

Genetically speaking, the children of two sets of identical twins are siblings.

[–]IFlippedYourTable 0 points1 point ago

Anyone else feel really bad for the non-twin kid? Like how left out does he feel

[–]whileyouwereliving 0 points1 point ago

Dude should have played roulette or something. But no he wasted all his odds on this.

[–]feezyduck 0 points1 point ago

He's the only one that doesn't have to think, when their sibling dies,"Oh Man I am going to die any second!!!"

[–]screwtrains 0 points1 point ago

I wonder if the parents ever get mixed up or fuck with their spouses

[–]backstab 0 points1 point ago

And identical twin's isn't a genetic thing.

[–]allthecoffee 0 points1 point ago

Twins freak me out.

[–]kekelulz 0 points1 point ago

I've missed x-zibi-t meme, so have an upvote!

[–]crzagazeta 0 points1 point ago

If any of them ever need to transplant, they will be very lucky.

[–]small_spatula 0 points1 point ago

At least they can save money of family portraits.

[–]Lordborg909 0 points1 point ago

Little boy on the left, true definition of forever alone. Especially in this family

[–]LadyLovelyChaos 0 points1 point ago

I just saw this like- 2 pages ago

[–]JimLeahe 0 points1 point ago

This is like, the coolest thing ever, genetically speaking. All of those kids are, genetically, brother and sister!

If they were all born around same time (i.e. babies; all looking identical) and then mixed up, there would be no way to separate them based on genetics.

[–]Nu11ington 0 points1 point ago

If identical twins marry another set of identical twins and have kids, their children would be genetic siblings

[–]winddancer613 1 point2 points ago

What's always bothered me about twin-twin marriages... Is it incest or not? O_0

[–]spritef 0 points1 point ago

Who's the 5th one??

[–]goranpejovic 0 points1 point ago

All of their children, the twins and the kid without a twin, have same DNA.

[–]montereyo 0 points1 point ago

No they don't. The twins have the same DNA, but the twins and the non-twin kid share only half of the same DNA, same as any normal sibling.

[–]goranpejovic 0 points1 point ago

My bad, I was sure I read somewhere if twins have children with another twins their kids will all have same DNA. Now I understand that was wrong. But still, genetically, all of their kids are like brothers and sisters to each other, right?

[–]montereyo 0 points1 point ago

Correct, their 'cousins' would be just as genetically close as their siblings.

[–]ilyashoi 0 points1 point ago

brothers and sisters marrying kind of borderlines on incest, does it not? i mean, their siblings in law, so....

[–]Karnas 0 points1 point ago

What? Two brothers married two sisters.

[–]kr0n0 -2 points-1 points ago

Is marrying your sister-in-law legal?

[–]Gneissisnice 6 points7 points ago

Sure, why wouldn't it be?

[–]kr0n0 0 points1 point ago

I don't know. It feels weird

[–]paulmclaughlin -2 points-1 points ago

It'd be bigamy.

[–]theodrixx 0 points1 point ago

I see where you're coming from, but not necessarily.

[–]Gneissisnice 0 points1 point ago

Not necessarily.

If my brother is married, then his wife is my sister-in-law, but her sisters are also my sisters-in-law (sister-in-laws?). I think that's how it works, at least.

[–]paulmclaughlin 0 points1 point ago

I'd never heard of that last definition before - I wonder if it is one of those things that is different in some English speaking places compared to others?

[–]Gneissisnice 0 points1 point ago

I could be wrong, but that's what I always heard.

[–]Parks1993 0 points1 point ago

This seems so wrong...

[–]stefer -1 points0 points ago

There is a Mensa question here...
