Aww why cant all cats be like this? All my cat does is sleep, fuck shit up, and meow for food :(

[–]Hovesh 267 points268 points ago

My cat doesn't even fuck shit up; sleep whine and eat, that is all.

[–]Malplace 480 points481 points ago

[–]Fraymond 288 points289 points ago

Wow, that was better than all the recent Garfield movies combined.

[–]Se7en_Sinner 83 points84 points ago

Which isn't saying much at all.

[–]anonymoustroll 28 points29 points ago

There are Garfield movies?

[–]quotejester 19 points20 points ago

Please don't look in to it. It isn't worth it.

Also, you haven't seen Zombieland?

[–]NUTELLA_TITS 29 points30 points ago

"Do you have any regrets?"

"Garfield, maybe."

[–]carter2791 3 points4 points ago

I never actually got that because I didn't know there was a life action Garfield movie. I may have heard of it at some point but has never interested in checking up on it.

[–]eats_shit_and_dies 39 points40 points ago

are you serious? even if you disregard the awful cgi movie, there were like a dozen of animated movies in the 80s.

[–]Julannpos 39 points40 points ago

I will never forget the one where Odi gets sent to the pound. One of the saddest things I have ever seen during my childhood.

[–]please_and_thankyou 5 points6 points ago

Apparently Bill Murray thought it was a Coen Brothers movie. It wasn't Joel Coen, it was Joel Cohen. The interview is great:

http://www.vulture.com/2010/07/bill_murray_only_did_garfield.html

[–]Lochcelious 7 points8 points ago

Not to mention Garfield & Friends. Those fucking farm animals...

[–]vpovio 6 points7 points ago

He said "recent" so I'm assuming he means only the cgi movies.

[–]MnamesPAUL 7 points8 points ago

What is the point of the whole "not available on mobile on purpose" thing?

[–]nerys71 0 points1 point ago

that there is US copyright law for you.

don't question it. slave. we rich masters know whats best for you

shut up slave.

[–]darker_orange 14 points15 points ago

I have yet to come across a Scottish fold that isn't adorable.

[–]TheDuskDragon 37 points38 points ago

AWWWWWW WHO'S A CUTE WITTLE SLEEPY KITTY... YOU ARE!

Ehermm... I mean. Cute cat.

[–]HampeMannen 12 points13 points ago

For anyone curious

wittle (Wittling) Whittling is the art of carving shapes out of raw wood with a knife.

The cat is an artist.

[–]Ravek 16 points17 points ago

If cats could teleport ... would this be awesome or horrible?

[–]Tridian 37 points38 points ago

Quick, use affection!

Cat uses teleport.

FFFFUUUUUUUUU!!!

[–]Reddit_Script 9 points10 points ago

If cats could teleport I think it's fair to say we wouldn't be the dominant species for long.

[–]doctorofphysick 2 points3 points ago

Still my favourite gif of all time.

[–]Riousenkai 21 points22 points ago

[–]Andypwns 7 points8 points ago

You need to download the Cat Enhancement Suite (CES), trust me it allows your cat to produce 40% more karma than other cats.

[–]Croc_Clock 178 points179 points ago

In my experience it has a lot to do with how they're raised when they're young. A lot of people sort of ignore their pets for the vast majority of the day, and then act surprised when their pets act okay without much social contact with people.

We have two cats right now, and have given them both a ridiculous amount of cuddling/playing their whole lives. Now anytime guests come over, the cats are all over them looking for cuddles and games because that's how they expect all humans will react to them.

[–]tonterias 58 points59 points ago

I agree, but there are some horrible exceptions.

[–]Croc_Clock 67 points68 points ago

You're totally right. I don't mean to suggest to anyone that if their cat is boring and asocial they should just blame themselves for it.

I'm just recommending that new owners take note and raise their pets the way they'd like their pets to ultimately behave on their own. As much as it might rouse commitment fear in people to acknowledge it, raising a pet has a lot in common with raising a child, in terms of basic parenting principles.

[–]psyne 50 points51 points ago

raising a pet has a lot in common with raising a child

Agreed, but strangely my cousins with small children get really upset when I point that out.

[–]San-Chan 68 points69 points ago

"Hey, your kid reminds me of my cats."

[–]n3onfx 75 points76 points ago

"Except my cat makes less noise, doesn't shit himself and is less expensive. But yeah your kid does remind me of my cat"

[–]TheColostomyBag 52 points53 points ago

I bet your kid can't even lick its own balls.

[–]TheInexorableTruth 21 points22 points ago

"Oh, and also, my cat is significantly cuter and is much more of a badass predator than your kid."

[–]My_Icy_veins 1 point2 points ago

humans are the ultimate predators. don't kid yourself.

[–]g00n 0 points1 point ago

Sounds like a challenge. My 15 month old cat vs your 15 month old daughter.

Game on, motherfucker.

[–]psygn 4 points5 points ago

My brother, how are you doing?

[–]Kierat 10 points11 points ago

It also depends on their individual personalities of course. I've had my cat since she was super tiny and adopted her from the streets. I always gave her a lot of attention, playing and cuddling. However the more she grows the more she shows her preference to just be left alone. Occassionally she will ask for affection but it doesn't happen very often. She's usually cold and distant.

[–]Croc_Clock 3 points4 points ago

Girl cats :-D That's what they do. Pretty lame if you ask me. Boy cats all the way!

[–]Lord_Vectron 6 points7 points ago

I dunno what quantifies as young, but we got our kitten at about 2 months old and have treated it like a spoilt little brat for 3 years. It's very rare that it will look for attention like in this gif I think BECAUSE we don't ever ignore it and thus it doesn't need to ask for attention.

If it's awake and in petting distance it damn right knows it's gonna be petted.

Kind of a shame, because I'd probably die from an overd'awwwwse if it did this to me.

[–]My_Icy_veins 1 point2 points ago

that's super sweet

[–]tehaleks 13 points14 points ago

I agree. My cats are very well behaved and extremely snuggly (though they've slowly started scratching on the furniture more and more as each year goes by, grr). My boyfriend had this nasty old bitch cat named Kat Kat in his apartment in college, and they tormented that poor thing all the time, and then were amazed when she would attack them and run off, and piss on all their stuff. I started living with him and he couldn't understand why my cats were so nice. Because I wasn't an asshole to them, you asshole!

[–]Syggie 47 points48 points ago

Have you ever heard of the waiter rule? It states that if your boyfriend/partner treats you right and nice but treats waiters and pets like shit, it's likely he will treat you like shit whenever he is comfortable with you.

I'm just mentioning it 'cause it happened to me. It's actually quite useful.

[–]tehaleks 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, I have heard of that and it definitely holds true. He's a nice guy, but he's a moron when it comes to animals. He grew up on a farm and cats (and dogs) are just sort of outdoor accessories to him. When I adopted a dog, it was harder to train him dog psychology and reasoning than it was to teach the dog to do a barrel roll!

I can't remember some of the stuff they would do to poor Kat Kat. They were 'nice' to her but it was akin to, like, childish torment a kid puts on his first pet.

[–]mwppinsidejokes 11 points12 points ago

I don't think you quite understood the point that Syggie was trying to impart.

[–]Elpege 22 points23 points ago

Also having two cats is much better. Having one cat, especially indoors only is in my opinion akin to sensory deprivation. Cats that are left home alone get in trouble because they are bored. They are social animals and hunters who like to explore. Of course there are exceptions, but on the whole being isolated depresses the shit out of them.

[–]Croc_Clock 21 points22 points ago

Definitely. If I could give one tip to any pet owners, it's make sure that you have at least two pets. I live in a small one bedroom apartment and I still made sure I had two cats. God, I couldn't imagine leaving just one cat alone at home all day.

[–]Elpege 12 points13 points ago

Kudos to you. Our adopted "two bedroom apartment" cat gets to go outside as she pleases and socializes with the many cats in our neighborhood. She gets cuddles from me and my roommate all the time. She is the sweetest cat I ever had :)

[–]old_calico_cat 23 points24 points ago

I think indoor cats, on average, actually live longer than cats that go outside by not being exposed to other cats/coyotes/snakes, etc, don't fuck up the environment by killing the local wildlife, and are just as happy as outdoor cats. It's just a matter of adaptation and raising your cat to be an indoor cat.

[–]mesor 3 points4 points ago

They get depressed though. My cats were way happier before my parents split and they moved into my moms apartment.

[–]BeastofWotan 55 points56 points ago

Were you sure to tell them that it wasn't their fault?

[–]HillTopTerrace 2 points3 points ago

I think this is half true. I have two cats, both of which we got at almost the same time and both received equal lovings. One turned out friendly, outgoing, and willing to please. The other is friendly toward the family, but will hide when strangers are in the house. He is just shy. He grew up with me for 14 years and now that I moved states, I only visit every other month. Though he knows he, he will hide when I get there for about a day, upon which time he will finally come out and love me again.

[–]Gamer4379 47 points48 points ago

All that cat did was mark its territory.

[–]RichB93 57 points58 points ago

STAY OUT OF MY TERRITORY. *paws face*

[–]mcknicker 83 points84 points ago

"Say my name."

"M-Meowsenberg?"

RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!

[–]loltheinternetz 16 points17 points ago

Respect my AUTHORITAH!

[–]genYretardbrat 11 points12 points ago

No and yes. It's making sure they all smell like they are from the same family.

"When cats rub people, they are marking them with their scent, claiming them as "theirs", in much the same way they would mark each other as neighbors in a natural setting. In addition, they are picking up the peoples' scents."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_communication#Scent

[–]Anteras 9 points10 points ago

"I claim thy face in the name of Kitty McCat!"

[–]the6step 2 points3 points ago

explain? I don't get it.

[–]Gamer4379 14 points15 points ago

"territories are marked by urine spraying, by rubbing objects at head height with secretions from facial glands, and by defecation"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat#Sociability

At least "facial secretions" are the least unpleasent of the bunch :D

[–]the6step 4 points5 points ago

So when either male / female cats brush their head, it's never affection?

[–]fluckyou 9 points10 points ago

I'd like to believe that sometimes it's for marking and other times it's for affection.

[–]just_jase_yeah 11 points12 points ago

Take it as affection in the sense the cat is proving to the world, via face/cheek rubs, 'this is my loved one, i both love, claim and share this human and their territory.'

The more they do it the more hardcore they are in the 'marking my centre of existance'. People that try and anthropomorphize further just dont get how domesticized animals work.

[–]gnomadic 2 points3 points ago

It's both, usually. There are no other cats in my household but mine will come over and do this a lot, while purring, and rolling over because he wants to be paid attention to. If it was just a territory thing I'd think he wouldn't care about whether or not I pet him.

[–]Colin_Oscar_P 2 points3 points ago

So why didn't it pee or shit on her?

[–]Gamer4379 55 points56 points ago

Because it's smart enough to realise that would lead to getting whacked with a newspaper ... or whatever people use these days ... an iPad I guess.

[–]doctorofphysick 30 points31 points ago

There's an app for that.

[–]Delfishie 1 point2 points ago

it saves that for the bedroom.

[–]mattroch 3 points4 points ago

Those pics are on gonewild

[–]Untoward_Lettuce 2 points3 points ago

I find it sad when all people choose to see is the utilitarian aspect of a living thing. Flowers are only sex organs. Romantic love is just for reproduction. Humans are just disposable puppets used by selfish genes.

The richness and beauty of life is lost when the world is viewed through simplistic, reductionist filters.

[–]Ceejae 26 points27 points ago

I've been looking after four cats for the past week, and while I know this sentiment will be unpopular here, all I've been able to conclude is that cats are assholes. The bigger ones are constantly coming up with conniving plans to steal the smallest cat's food. To the extent where they will actually forgo eating their own food first just so they can steal his before he's finished. :(

[–]Nude_Version 35 points36 points ago

Something like this. Mine does the same to my other cat. I just make them eat in separate rooms, ain't no thing.

[–]Lithex 4 points5 points ago

My cats are like this one; but the older one has taken to shit on the carpets for no damn reason. I even places three moterfucking littler boxes, still shits on carpet.

[–]starktrek 1 point2 points ago

Mine takes a shit directly in front of his litterboxes at least once a day. Then he scrambles for the living room and sits in the middle of the floor yowling his head off.

He has issues.

[–]Vslacha 1 point2 points ago

Because they're cats.

[–]quintessadragon 2 points3 points ago

My boyfriend's cat is like this. He is absolutely adorable. He also bites your arm though. He used to be kind of violent too, but now he has a kitten friend and they just tackle each other.

[–]leoavalon 1 point2 points ago

My boyfriend's cat is just like that... I use to say that he's not even a cat. He's the sweetest human being I've even know

[–]kyleighbo0 2 points3 points ago

Cats are like people, there are a lot of assholes out there.. But sometimes you find a very special being.

[–]anirdnas 207 points208 points ago

Here is the original video if you are interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_-RoKOAkro&feature=player_embedded

[–]dracopervicax 37 points38 points ago

It's nice to know that making stupid noises at cats is an international phenomenon.

[–]Witkin 66 points67 points ago

Thanks for this, by the gif i could have thought the cat removed the glasses by accident, seeing him do it over and over again was wonderful. DAMMIT WOMAN!! HERE!

[–]SillyBirdy123 51 points52 points ago

I clicked the link and then ended up clicking on other related videos and got sucked into a vortex of cat videos.

[–]DeskFlyer 51 points52 points ago

A CATegory 5 vortex?

I'll show myself out.

[–]starvingrabbit 19 points20 points ago

So adorable!!! He even did it for like 6 times!!! Argh will watch again :)

[–]LarryWashington 23 points24 points ago

I think it's amazing how despite so many cultural differences and languages we speak, we all do so many things, so similarly.

[–]wiffleaxe 2 points3 points ago

Ow, my allergies!

[–]dalovindj 9 points10 points ago

At the end that second cat comes in looking for some love and gets ignored. Someone is playing favorites.

[–]Kimbernator 1 point2 points ago

I love how the cat just beings to go for it around 1:44 and she blocks him on accident.

[–]SimQ 263 points264 points ago

I love how the cat gets this very determined look on it's face just before it pulls down her glasses.
"DAMMIT WOMAN I NEED ATTENTION!"

[–]molrobocop 68 points69 points ago

"Attention is on something not related to me."

[–]doctorofphysick 22 points23 points ago

"Haha! As if there could be something other than me. That's silly."

[–]emperorpotatoketchup 8 points9 points ago

Maybe the cat was just tired of seeing those thick black framed glasses everywhere.

[–]Mexhibitionist 243 points244 points ago

You know I hate it when you wear glasses, baby. Let me just. Awwww yeaaahhhh. Mr. Bojangles gettin' some snuggles.

[–]White_Luigi 76 points77 points ago

"Alright, have we tried hair down, glasses on? No, that's still no good, how about glasses off, hair up?"

[–]IAmAKanyeWestAMA 37 points38 points ago

[–]ausgekugelt 1 point2 points ago

I wonder how long it would take me to stop sneezing if my cat did that to me...

[–]smmfdyb 2 points3 points ago

Looks like Leo DiCaprio's cat is insisting on attention.

[–]Kaijucade 2 points3 points ago

Yes it is marking her with its smell because it feels attachment towards her. The cat likes this person and wants to make sure this person smells as much like it as possible to other cats who may get ideas. Head bumping can also be a sign of affection. When you have been around enough cats throughout your life you can easily tell when a cat is just being territorial(which is also a compliment) or being affectionate as well. Yes animals show affection. Most of our human behaviors that show affection stemmed from some evolutionary biological need, such as kissing possibly evolving as a 'vaccine' of sorts against a saliva dwelling pathogen. Just because a behavior has a biological purpose doesn't also mean there is no 'heart' behind it :)

[–]nightninja88 1 point2 points ago

Oh so my friends cats headbutting me is affection, not because it wants me to meet it on the football field later?

[–]Sacrosanction 1 point2 points ago

[–]blandomink 5 points6 points ago

The cat was more like, "My human food dispenser/scratch post is wearing an object that prevents me from rubbing my head on her face to get rid of that annoying itch from the flea bite I got earlier while killing my eleventh small animal today", "Let me just me just remove these, aaaaah yessss".

[–]Vanne_ 2 points3 points ago

[–]bkills1986 0 points1 point ago

This is awesome! Good thing that claw didnt catch the corner of her eye... I'd imagine this gif would have ended up in another subreddit had that been the case.

[–]CaptLudwig 2 points3 points ago

That's way too fucking cute, you can tell the cat wanted to take the glasses off just to headbutt her, without pushing them against her face. When I used to wear glasses my cat always pressed them against my skull just to cuddle :).

[–]Ghostwoif123 0 points1 point ago
