Minimalism isn't some card-carrying club; it's just the concept of 'being content with your life'. You decide what that concept means in execution.

Didn't he also wear a robe? Homespun, of course.

[–]chris-martin 2 points3 points ago

Gandhi died naked.

[–]anderbubble 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure that means he wouldn't have been wearing the rest of this; but we still see a picture of it.

He was so minimalist he gave up food for awhile.

[–]iowni1 8 points9 points ago

Gandhi is not the best person to look up to, he actually neglected his children.

and MLK Jr was a womanizer. They say Jesus was a drunk. Alexander the Great killed lots of people. Mother Teresa didn't give pain meds to alleviate the suffering of her patients because she believed suffering helped people. etc etc.

They say Jesus was a drunk.

Dude... the guy's BAC was perpetually about 17%. Strong wine.

As far as I'm concerned, almost every person has done something that, if they were famous and people found out about it, would be a disaster. Nearly everyone has done something horrific in their lives. Even Gandhi.

Sadly it's no longer about minimizing the excess in your life but who can brag the most about being destitute.

I call it Possession Anorexia.

Let's not forget finding extreme pointless ways to apply minimalism.

[–]Iysif -1 points0 points ago

I read "Gandhi" as "Gaddafi" and was super confused.

[–]MrAristo 0 points1 point ago

That's the sole reason I clicked. Didn't realize which subreddit it was from.

What's in those three vials on the top right?

[–]DoctorWedgeworth 2 points3 points ago

I don't think it's three vials, I think it's the three wise monkeys (one covering its eyes, one covering its ears, one covering its mouth) representing "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil", or as my grandad used to shorten it "See nowt, hear nowt, say nowt".

There's an example here. The ones I've got look much more similar but I'm not at home to take a photo.

You use two to pull it out of your butt, and the third to wipe.

[–]georgedonnelly 0 points1 point ago

Perhaps scented oils that may have been used for meditation or ritual purification.

No, the book.

[–]debianmike 0 points1 point ago

And the wand.
