Time for everyone to start repacking memes from this guy.

[–]JCXtreme 279 points280 points ago

From that very link:

http://i.imgur.com/YAQjh.jpg

[–]canonymous 128 points129 points ago

Except that one actually made sense because people really do "burn" things on to CDs, but not flash drives.

[–]adidasaids 20 points21 points ago

Exactly! That's the first thing of many that annoyed me.

[–]pour7me7another 9 points10 points ago

Here's a little trivia. The word "burn" comes from the writing process. Writable discs are coated with a special chemical layer that, when heated to a certain temperature, changes the reflective quality of that spot of the disc. This emulates the pits found on commercially produced discs.

Edit: spellign.

[–]LtZedKilla 33 points34 points ago

-84 YES OPTUS

[–]darsehole 6 points7 points ago

My optus has more or less been a NO OPTUS experience, service is shocking in melbourne

[–]bjimmy 2 points3 points ago

Lol try Vodafone if you want to experience telecom horror. I'm in suburban Melbourne; insufficient signal strength to even make a damn call. Life is hard.

[–]darsehole 0 points1 point ago

It seems that Optus can't even handle a double brick apartment block

[–]YeOldDan 1 point2 points ago

I'm with Optus and just moved to Melbourne from Brisbane, have had no problems with coverage at all. Although on an unrelated note the weather here is fkn whack. What up with that?

[–]darsehole 0 points1 point ago

It's kind of like living with a bi polar person, you learn to adjust. But with summer coming up it's gonna frazzle us all

[–]Monfriez 2 points3 points ago

But with summer coming up it's gonna frazzle us all

As an American, I understand how hemispheres work. Still weird reading that while I'm sitting outside a cafe thinking about how cold it's gotten lately.

[–]darsehole 7 points8 points ago

Melbourne does not follow the usual weather patterns of its geographical location. It acts independently and creates it's own weather, changing every 10 minutes or so

[–]danwasinjapan 0 points1 point ago

As well as San Francisco

[–]iamnotatroll 0 points1 point ago

is that anything like living with a straight polar person, or a gay polar person?

[–]thekirbylover 2 points3 points ago

The -84 is the signal strength in numeric form (instead of bars). http://i.imgur.com/7QWop.gif

[–]movzx 9 points10 points ago

http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/1k82/

That one just isn't fair.

[–]crime_fighter 2 points3 points ago

this is the question.

[–]SnipingBeaver 17 points18 points ago

I like OAG better, I've always preferred human photos over the animal ones, but maybe I'm just weird

[–]ThatBoogalooShrimp 20 points21 points ago

I think it depends; the penguin looks socially awkward, insanity wolf looks insane, confession bear looks solemn, but that praying mantis just looks like a fucking praying mantis, its association with being a crazy girlfriend is arbitrary and forced.

[–]justapunkrocksong 10 points11 points ago

I assume it's because the praying mantis eats her mate.

[–]livefreeordont 2 points3 points ago

thats definitely it, but its not as popular for exactly this reason, people dont know about this. maybe if the image was of her eating the male it would be more successful?

[–]ThatBoogalooShrimp 0 points1 point ago

Intriguing.

[–]SnipingBeaver 2 points3 points ago

Well yeah, there's exceptions like those, but some of them not really, like the technologically impaired duck among others

[–]crime_fighter 0 points1 point ago

this is brilliant.

[–]samplesizeme 2 points3 points ago

Dems some fine memes.

[–]growinglotus 2 points3 points ago

Out of curiosity, what's the source of this new one? I missed it.

[–]Deagle_Shitter 2 points3 points ago

Why are all the memes getting replaced? I miss condescending fox...

[–]Kossain -1 points0 points ago

This one made me laugh the hardest:

[–]Mmammammamma 12 points13 points ago

Isn't the first line supposed to sound aggressive?

This would be great as an SAT test question. Pick this one + 3 other "more correct" meme pics and ask which one doesn't belong here.

[–]Prone_Blocked 1 point2 points ago

Wow, some of those were painfully forced.

qsource

[–]zalemam 133 points134 points ago

Dude in the picture is most likely Jordanian, the red head piece is almost exclusively used in Jordan, and judging from his outfit, he's probably a desert patrol.

Edit: misspelled a word.

[–]LtFrankDrebin 52 points53 points ago

Confirmed. Desert patrol, a bagpipe band member, or maybe both. Judging from the ruins, he's probably in Jerash, or maybe Kerak or Ajloun. You should be excited because it's rare to see a Jordanian man smile. This is the equivalent of capturing Blue Whales mating.

I kid, the Jordanian frown is an inside joke amongst us Jordanians.

The red Hatta (Shmagh) is also used in gulf countries.

[–]GregPatrick 11 points12 points ago

Jordanian frown? I had no idea! I had a Jordanian student who always looked sad and I'd ask him what was wrong. He'd then say "Nothing! I feel great!" then try to force a really awkward smile....good kid.

[–]zalemam 2 points3 points ago

I know, I visit Jordan every couple of years, everyone frowns lol.

[–]tomremixed 0 points1 point ago

My roommate last year was Jordanian and we would always joke about the Jordanian smile. Instead of smiling and saying he liked something he keep a straight face and make a click with his tongue.

[–]attackofthesuck 1 point2 points ago

He's in Jerash. He plays the bagpipes in the big amphitheater there. I was there a few months ago and remember him very well.

[–]LtFrankDrebin 0 points1 point ago

Damn I'm good!

[–]Zorano0 11 points12 points ago

He is actually a member of band performing in Jerash, Jordan.

Edit : aaaand a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuN1fNIck7c

[–]zalemam 1 point2 points ago

I remember seeing a Jordanian bagpipe band play Yankee doodle.

[–]ataraxia09 8 points9 points ago

Do you think someone would do that? Misrepresent a photo on Reddit?

[–]dsalad 8 points9 points ago

Uh . . yes.

[–]Kossain 7 points8 points ago

I would love to visit your country!

[–]Kossain 1 point2 points ago

I like Kurds, they're friendly folks :)

Plenty of people wear that headgear in the UAE.

[–]iAzure94 1 point2 points ago

The red scarf is widely used in the Arabian gulf too

[–]dirksqjaw 1 point2 points ago

Haven't been to saudi much then, eh?

[–]lovesushi 2 points3 points ago

The mustache and skin tone makes him more likely a Jordanian than a Saudi.

[–]renome 497 points498 points ago

You don't "burn" things to flash drives, only on optical discs.

[–]POWERFUCKER 320 points321 points ago

Why, thank you for this correction Buzz Killington.

[–]Aww_Shucks 73 points74 points ago

At first I thought Killington made flashdrives.

In my defense, I just woke up.

[–]OhaiItsAhmad -1 points0 points ago

Same idea.

[–]BuickTime 0 points1 point ago

How did this image give you a buzz?

[–]renome 0 points1 point ago

Well, I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself if I didn't write anything.

[–]svmk1987 26 points27 points ago

Yep. This would have been an amazing post if the OP had just said DVD instead of flash drive.... oh well, upvotes

[–]ChemicalShenanigans 22 points23 points ago

Who the fuck puts books on a DVD?

[–]orphanitis 30 points31 points ago

Someone who has 4 to 8 gigs of books.

[–]GenghisChron 1 point2 points ago

Even so, you can buy 20gb flash drives for under $10 and not have to worry about the whole burning process. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

[–]speranza 2 points3 points ago

What if they were audio books?

[–]Dracofav 14 points15 points ago

[–]Fartmatic 4 points5 points ago

'DVD'... didn't they go out of fashion in 1998 or something?

[–]marshalldjuric 6 points7 points ago

Here in Africa people still use it to store everything...

[–]TheProle 8 points9 points ago

I work for a financial institution. Flash drives are specifically banned since a white hat doing pen testing dropped a few Trojan-infected ones around the lobby and dumbasses plugged all but one into their work computers.

We go through tons of DVD-Rs and we encrypt them all.

[–]TheDroopy 2 points3 points ago

When I started college in 2008, I bought a new laptop and opted for the DVD burner because I would need to be transferring a bunch of data back and forth between home and computer labs and whatnot. I think I've used the burner maybe 4 or 5 times in total. And that was just burning movies to watch.

[–]borbus 42 points43 points ago

People say they "burn" stuff on to a flash drive?

[–]JonesBee 8 points9 points ago

Same logic as people saying they tape tv-shows on a dvr. Never heard of this before though.

[–]barristonsmellme 15 points16 points ago

yes. Just like they wind down the windows, dial a phone number and rewind films.

[–]velcona 4 points5 points ago

Or say hit the hay, use the rule of thumb(Lolz), or I'm riding shotgun all are figurative now but were at one point literal.

[–]shnoog 0 points1 point ago

My car has wind down windows...

[–]adidasaids 5 points6 points ago

How exactly does one BURN data to a flash drive? Computer much OP?

[–]Sock_Puppet_Orgy 5 points6 points ago

All western literature? That's a big flash drive...

[–]Kossain 0 points1 point ago

Mashallah! Good job! I want to visit Libya someday, I am Iranian and love Arabic cultures and peoples.

[–]yepyep1243 5 points6 points ago

Burn

flash drive

*twitch*

[–]spartaninspace 0 points1 point ago

Sounds like something my nan would say.

[–]Sokonomi 0 points1 point ago

How does one "burn" literature on a flash drive?

I suppose you could laser it on the side of the device, though it would make for a very short read.

[–]Enough_Swingball 2 points3 points ago

What's wrong with ordinary muslim man?

[–]Lugal 7 points8 points ago

A blasphemous depiction of Mohammed? This calls for a letter to the editor!

[–]childprodigy 3 points4 points ago

Heh, looks pretty familiar.

[–]pacman404 1 point2 points ago

yeah, and this one actually makes sense. Burn to a flash drive? this idiot cant even steal jokes right. Hes like the Carlos Mencia of the interwebs

[–]Randomoneh 3 points4 points ago

Benghazi. Is that where all those black Libyans were beheaded / tortured / executed (all filmed) just for being black? Yes, yes it is.

[–]2pm2am 1 point2 points ago

If it they killed them just because they were black, wouldn't you think they would have done it before the revolution too? Don't be stupid, and none were beheaded. I like how beheading is always associated with arab/muslim countries. Some were beaten, yes, some were killed, yes. Because they were black? no, some of those who killed them were also black. Why were they killed? Because they were mercenaries sent to rape and kill. Why were they black? Because they were predominantly from sub-saharan African countries, where Gaddafi has many allies for countless favors he had done for them in the past...after all he was named the king of kings of Africa.

[–]inbox7 -2 points-1 points ago

Sorry to throw rain on the parade, but racial politics under Gaddafi were quite a bit more complicated, certainly you're premature to call the poster 'stupid' for his claim.

Gaddafi was a secular pan-Africanist who resisted apartheid and promoted blacks to positions of power in his regime. He was closely associated with the immigration of black Africans and non-muslims, who a Libyan commenter in a BBC story called "Gaddafi's imported criminals." As for rape? Gaddafi filled the military with black Africans to avoid infiltration -- the same problem we in the US face in Afghanistan. Rather, Libyans claim that "Our society, culture and economy is being raped" by the blacks. Listen to the statements made openly by the Libyans, not by European and American apologists trying to justify our military intervention.

[–]2pm2am 4 points5 points ago

Premature? I'm in Benghazi you idiot, born and raised, and I know Libya far better than you ever will. You can't be a blanket thinker and apply what you "think" you know about Afghanistan and elsewhere about Libya. Quoting BBC, you're a complete moron. You do realize that a large part of the Libyan population is black, and there was never a racial problem and I can confirm this as a Libyan. You can't sit where ever the fuck you are, watching a screen and pretending to know more about my country than I do.

[–]IAmKramerTheRacist 0 points1 point ago

I think it's safe to say you won that battle

[–]davidsatiricon 0 points1 point ago

He blowed up his interlocutor argument!

[–]GigaGrey 0 points1 point ago

[–]Jabberminor 2 points3 points ago

He looks like a jolly guy that I would like to have a drink with.

[–]TheAntZ 2 points3 points ago

If he actually IS a muslim, chances are he doesnt drink

[–]Spiro_Agnew 1 point2 points ago

Just because people are Arab or Persian doesn't mean they're Muslim. There are many secular Libyans.

[–]alitobi 16 points17 points ago

Secular = not muslim?

[–]SalamanderSylph 8 points9 points ago

Secular ∈ Not muslim

[–]Kossain 0 points1 point ago

I'm Persian and know many secular Muslims in my country.

[–]Snikz18 3 points4 points ago

A lot of lebanese are arabs And Not muslims.

-Source: i am one.

[–]OpinionAboutiPhone 1 point2 points ago

Sweet stolen joke. Way to go, be proud of your small mind.

[–]villavillautv 1 point2 points ago

Didn't know you can burn things onto Flash drives, but okay HERE GOES!

[–]ramsrgood 0 points1 point ago

what's the difference between this and "ordinary muslim man"?

[–]wolfram6 -1 points0 points ago

I think a more serious picture would make the meme better. He looks pretty friendly and happy so the whole "negative part" first doesn't really hit me like it should

[–]Rebound 1 point2 points ago

This meme already exists dude.

[–]Saxswagger 0 points1 point ago

You'd need a pretty big flash drive...

[–]rub_your_brother -1 points0 points ago

I want more of these.

[–]tingtong70 -1 points0 points ago

Gonna be brave and say can we keep advice animals free of this sort of thing, I prefer it being more light-hearted

[–]Housewifebread 0 points1 point ago

This is just great, thanks.

[–]woofwoofwoof 0 points1 point ago

Lawrence Wright, a New Yorker staff writer, has said that less than ten thousand English books have been translated into Arabic. There really is a cultural divide somewhere here, and it might simply be beyond the power of an advice animal.

[–]dillybert 1 point2 points ago

my Dad was born and raised in Morocco, and he just read books in French instead in School, since everyone also spoke French. Incidentally, Morocco is one of the more sane Islamic countries.

[–]moralitypts 0 points1 point ago

This was actually a satirical response from a real Muslim on Twitter in response to Newsweek Msulim's Rage article

[–]sweetjudith 0 points1 point ago

THANK YOU for not being racist

[–]secret_ninja 1 point2 points ago

Im embarrassed that i feel special because i upvoted this when it was the top of /r/new. go me.

[–]GelatinousBooze 1 point2 points ago

Completely retarded meme.

[–]evil_part 0 points1 point ago

NOT even close!

This guy is a Jordanian fellow in his traditional clothes in the old roman city of Jerash

[–]Windyvale 0 points1 point ago

"Burn to a flashdrive"...?

[–]eggs_and_bacon 0 points1 point ago

ELI5 what's the significance of saying Benghazi Muslim

[–]THEoriginalBRIEN -1 points0 points ago

Why do people keep upvoting this?

It's been established that:

1) He is Jordan Desert Patrol, not Benghazi

2) You do not "burn" things to flash drives.

Also an awful headline.

[–]IT_Derp 0 points1 point ago

Flash Drive -- Burn

Wat

[–]suck_my_dick_reddit 0 points1 point ago

FYI you dont "burn" data onto a flash drive.

They call it "burning" because on CD's once you put data on it you cant delete it, like once you burn something you cant bring it back to original form.

[–]ppitm 0 points1 point ago

Benghazi has one of the strongest histories of radicalism and fundamentalism in the Middle East. It's contributed its inhabitants to a lot of militant groups.

Which sort of goes to show of this 'inexplicable Muslim rage' and 'medieval Islamofascism' is just politics.

[–]mapkinase 0 points1 point ago

You just described a RAND Muslim, in a brilliant description by late Anwar al-Awlaki, rahimahu Allah, the neologism introduced in his lecture The Battle of Hearts and Minds.

I advise every Muslim to read or listen to this lecture.

[–]mctt 0 points1 point ago

[–]proteios1 0 points1 point ago

A study coming out of a Muslim research institute in Iran indicates the average Muslim in the Middle East reads for about 12 minutes per year. Compared to America which is almost 10000 minutes. The study expressed a great deal of concern for what it may suggest for the rise of the predominantly Islamic people of the Middle East and their hopes for globalization. As for me, I think the religion itself supports this type of suppression, as most educated Muslim people, from speaking with colleagues at work, try to use their education to leave the Middle East.

[–]Red130 0 points1 point ago

probably my new favorite meme

[–]xenover 0 points1 point ago

[–]td27 0 points1 point ago

He is going to read the whole western literature?

[–]Loroco_Topo 0 points1 point ago

burning a flash drive? hoo boy

[–]jvanlente 0 points1 point ago

I went to the comments for this one just to see what people would say about that.

[–]paduschka 0 points1 point ago

:D i understand the context, but what are "benghazi" muslims? i googled it but only the meme showed up.

[–]Lord_Sif 0 points1 point ago

Still trying to prop this shit up? Looks like someone is still in denial. Riots all over the world. Anyone else also find it ironic that yes, it was Muslims that destroyed one of the largest library in ancient times? Of course, it was a Hindu library so we all know it got what was coming to it!

[–]RetroFan89 0 points1 point ago

This picture was in no way inspired by "Ordinary Muslim Man".

[–]SeriousSlender 0 points1 point ago

I am racist

[–]shellwe 0 points1 point ago

False... you don't "burn" to a flash drive.

[–]PlaidBaron 0 points1 point ago

So, is there a random red dot on every advice animal comment page for everyone else too? It's not on any other comment page, just the advice animals one... Spooky.

[–]tomonline 0 points1 point ago

yay non-shooting-muslims!

[–]Hybridjosto 0 points1 point ago

OP's execution was poor...

[–]FireThestral 0 points1 point ago

... but you don't burn things to flash drives. You burn CDs...

[–]Sutekhy 0 points1 point ago

Things aren't burned to a flash drive. They're burned to a CD.

[–]dhockey63 0 points1 point ago

Lets all riot against the west while we're all wearing nike, adidas, and blue jeans!!

[–]Patchy_Burrito -1 points0 points ago

Something tells me a flash drive would not be able to hold "all of Western Literature." Like, not even close...

[–]growinglotus 12 points13 points ago

Yeah, especially when they hit "The Neverending Story".

[–]1235813213455 1 point2 points ago

Stolen from a Muslim twitter user who tweeted this earlier.

[–]hapaxLegomina 2 points3 points ago

Front page for a post in the middle of the night? Well done, good Redditor.

[–]old_righty 0 points1 point ago
