                            This dude is my inspiration! I can't do anything remotely comparable to what he can do, but his work is what inspired me to explore different ways of carving.

                            It sucks that pumpkins are only around for a short time each year. I'll do a few and hone my skills a little more, and then forget all of that by the next year. I could carve other things, but... I don't... :/

                                I'm not so sure this is an actual case of hyper-realism. From what I've seen, hyper-realism occurs when the lines between real and fake become blurred. Like when you see an amazing picture but then upon closer inspection you realize it's a painting, or something along those lines.

                                        Not my cup of tea to be honest, I like to think i'm a "weird and different" guy, but hanging out with them for 6 hours a day, I felt normal... they went to midget wrestling religiously, some of the workers even participated as characters.

                                        Busy work mostly; ran errands for the boss, researched horror and anime conventions, updated their website, ect. There were a few times though, that I had to sit down and watch their movies for 8 hours and create the subtitles for them... Oh and i worked on set for some of the new movies that they released, that was fun too.

                                        "foot in the door" was the intent of me taking the internship, hopefully it'll help for me as a Motion Graphics Major. Yeah i never took their movies seriously, it was a slap in the face to see that they have to crank these movies out in two weeks and the amount of team members and sleepless nights that go into it, no matter how "dumb" they look.

                                              The guy was my high school art teacher. One of the coolest teachers I've ever had. He worked on this while everyone in class did what they wanted (so long as it didn't annoy him and was art related)

                                                  This leads to a very guilty confession: when I was a college freshman, I got a bit drunk on Halloween, and upon returning to the dorms later on in the presence of friends and a girl I was interested in, I saw a small carved (not a good carving) pumpkin. For some reason, I didn't even think about it: I smashed it INSIDE the dorm. A short, plump guy comes out and I notice it's the other floor's RA. It was his pumpkin. I was expecting a serious chewing-out or maybe a letter from the dean..but what I got was even worse. He just looks at me with these sad puppy-dog eyes and says 'I'll just clean this up...' the girl looks at me like I'm the biggest douche in the milky-way, and goes home not long afterward - and like 10 years later I can't forgive myself

                                                    I absolutely fucking LOVE these and cannot wait for these to come out every single year.

                                                    People need to check out the Blizzard pumpking Carving Championships as well if you haven't seen them. I am always floored by the enthusiasm put into this contest in specific.

                                                    My friend once made a great A7X pumpkin and we went to go see them, he left it at home not thinking anything of it. (It was around Halloween that year and he was just making a batt skull design in a pumpkin he decided to carve.) This was at the Roseland Ballroom (NYC) awhile back. He didn't know that A7X had a pumpkin carving contest going on that night that they played. We noticed pretty quick, from all the Avenged Sevenfold themed pumpkins scattered around the already eccentric stage. We would have had backstage passes to go backstage with them like all the other (knowing) participants did. We instead watched as the entire band, and all of those smart (lucky?) enough to end up in the balcony on top of the stage (behind frosted glass) as they took Jager Bomb after Jager Bomb with the band before they (so amazingly) took the stage and blew our young minds that night.
