Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's allright. You are forgiven.

[–]Warhawk84 35 points36 points ago

I've tried to find this on YouTube for so long! Nobody seems to remember that episode of family guy but me!

[–]notatestaccount 40 points41 points ago

[–]holyvinyl 88 points89 points ago

And all these years I thought I had worms.

[–]CapnScumbone 68 points69 points ago

as a parasitologist, allow me to inform you that you probably do anyway

[–]Phoboshobo 15 points16 points ago

I will probably regret this but, explain please? I'm sure I should stay ignorant to the horrors that go on in my body but, I'm curious.

[–]CapnScumbone 48 points49 points ago

there's an entire galaxy of parasites that enjoy quality time in you! Pinworms, whipworms, ascarids, dirofilarians, baylisascarids...and this is just nematodes. I'll avoid mentioning the protozoans for the sake of peace of mind, but right now hordes of them are likely eating away at your teeth, intestines, and possibly nervous system (if you're a fan of cats.) but don't feel bad-you're prime real estate and/or a quality dinner for orders of parasitic life from fungi to vertebrates!

[–]Squirrelson 29 points30 points ago

I just chugged a gallon of mouth wash.

[–]CapnScumbone 41 points42 points ago

what? the LAST thing you want to do with parasites around is to weaken your liver! some live there and burrow into your lungs. very messy.

[–]Squirrelson 33 points34 points ago

SHOULD I GO FOR INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH PESTICIDE OR CYANIDE???

[–]CapnScumbone 40 points41 points ago

that's a selfish attitude! half of your parasitic infrapopulation is pregnant (or asexually dividing, but let's not split hairs). think of the children!

[–]mjones87 9 points10 points ago

Opp, gonna have to be bacardi 151

[–]CapnScumbone 5 points6 points ago

now you're talking. screwdriver time on my end.

[–]tweeex 10 points11 points ago

or maybe SPLIT HEIRS, AMIRITE?

[–]CapnScumbone 5 points6 points ago

FUCKING BAM!

[–]Squirrelson 10 points11 points ago

Parasitic means I'm better off without them.

Call me Ringworm Hitler then.

Also as a Pre-med student I'm fascinated by this conversation.

[–]CapnScumbone 3 points4 points ago

well...semi-commensal may be a better term in some cases.

[–]CaptainKlamydia 2 points3 points ago

I know my name may indicate otherwise, but I have a great disdain for your knowledge about what's inside of me. Especially if it's parasitic in nature and not paying rent.

[–]CapnScumbone 8 points9 points ago

well, some do have certain benefits. for example, some otherwise harmful parasites prevent autoimmune issues such as colitis. if you're not shitting blood 40 times a day, thank your parasites!

[–]kreiger 5 points6 points ago

Speaking as someone who does have colitis, how do i go about acquiring some of the aforementioned parasites?

[–]CapnScumbone 5 points6 points ago

actually...i recommend Trichiris suis (hog whipworm) as a relatively safe method of controlling colitis/Crohn's. many people travel to Mexico to become intentionally infected. you could also stroll barefoot in pig shit if that strikes your fancy. mmmmm...squishy

[–]CaptainKlamydia 2 points3 points ago

Alright alright, some of 'em do pay rent, just keep quiet about the other millions that don't and just throw raging parties to wreck my innards

[–]holyvinyl 4 points5 points ago

I accepted all of this long ago. Especially the cat part.

[–]pr1ncessjasm1ne 3 points4 points ago

Wait, cats?

[–]CapnScumbone 11 points12 points ago

yeah, they're kind of infested with protozoans that co-evolved to give them the upsetting ability to make prey animals unwary and to make humans actually want them around despite the fact that cats are made of distilled contempt

[–]RufusMcCoot 0 points1 point ago

vertebrates

Fuck you, man.

[–]giveitago 1 point2 points ago

I think if it were possible I would curse somebody with profound awareness of flora and fauna that live in and upon their body. Not just knowing it but experiencing it the same way you would experience animals at the zoo. That and sphincter tastebuds.

[–]Aleksander73 10 points11 points ago

If you are a parasitologist, you will know the benefit of putting scotch tape over your butthole before bed.

[–]CapnScumbone 5 points6 points ago

LOL pinworms.

[–]Aleksander73 3 points4 points ago

Fo sho.

[–]CapnScumbone 8 points9 points ago

i always imagined 'the nutcracker suite' playing as they emerged at night, and cannot imagine them any other way.

[–]Aleksander73 4 points5 points ago

In medical school we watched a video and it was creepy as shit. Some little kid vigorously scratching his ass and crying to his mom. Whenever someone says "enterobius" I flashback to that creepy little ass scratcher.

[–]CapnScumbone 1 point2 points ago

your description is pure magic, and Reddit needs to witness and enjoy this film with us.

[–]Aleksander73 1 point2 points ago

Haha, I wouldn't even begin to know how to find it.

[–]astrael91 2 points3 points ago

Pinworms are so much worse if you're a chick.

[–]H5Mind 2 points3 points ago

That's what happens when you watch a dog poop.

[–]jevmorgan 111 points112 points ago

I FUCKING HATE THESE. I wish there was a way to get rid of them without invasive, dangerous surgery.

[–]kwyjibo1230 15 points16 points ago

WAIT! Are you saying these aren't normal????

[–]missimmerica 7 points8 points ago

Yeah, what? I get these on occasion... Should I be concerned?

[–]crifnud 7 points8 points ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater They seem fairly common, and are only a big deal to some people with more extreme cases.

[–]kwyjibo1230 8 points9 points ago

Phew okay. I usually can only see them when I look at solid colors, especially the sky.

[–]yokiedinosaur 18 points19 points ago

I know that feel. :( I have even more than what that gif shows, all over my field of vision. Vitrectomy sounds too risky to be worth it, though.

[–]uneven 14 points15 points ago

Oh god, why did I click this?

[–]Fresh_Portals 20 points21 points ago

WHY DID YOUR COMMENT MAKE ME CLICK IT

[–]tauntonian 3 points4 points ago

Make it stop!

[–]AgentVanillaGorilla 8 points9 points ago

Screw you guys

[–]talljewishkid 12 points13 points ago

I'm going home!

[–]Kickinback32 7 points8 points ago

I've had two cataracts removed, one from each eye. I also had surgery to repair a detached retina. In the cataract removals, they keep you awake just so doped up Valium you don't give a shit that you are watching a scalpel come towards your eye. Then when you feel the pressure of the cut it still doesn't bother you.

My detached retina was a whole other ball game. I was put to sleep, but I was allowed to wake up when they realized they had forgotten a scope they needed for the surgery. There I sat one eye covered the other partially pulled out of socket as they are working on. I was still calm as I could be, I was even holding a conversation with my surgeon about iPhone apps. This was back when I had the original still and the 3G had but out for a few months. Since I was awake I could feel the pain more, so every 5-10 min I asked for more morphine. They finally put me back under after 35-45 min. I woke up in extreme pain, I was cussing the staff out tried to swing on them, but I was still strapped down. It turns out I maxed my pain killers when they allowed me to wake up, which was a horrible decision. I felt like I had a red hot ice pick shoved into my eye, and it was constantly being twisted and reheated. My parents could hear me screaming. It scared them and the waiting room staff half to death. I literally wanted to die I honestly believed it would of been better than the pain. Finally they decide enough morphine went through my system, that it would be safe to give me another dose. It wasn't until then that I quit screaming and threatening people. I was still super upset, because they acted like I was over reacting, but I wasn't I have had plenty of surgeries and broken bones, but nothing ever hurt like this. Finally my favorite part was some nurse had the gall to call her daughter and bitch about me causing her to be late to pick her up. I leaned up the best I could as I was still strapped down and said "If you would get off the fucking phone you curly haired bitch, and do your fucking ass job you could go pick up your shit head daughter!" She promptly said bye and hung up.

TL;DR As long as they don't max your pain killers needlessly, you won't have to call someone a curly haired bitch, and it should be a breeze!

[–]Naggers123 5 points6 points ago

That tl;dr is useless

[–]Splenda_Man 19 points20 points ago

same

[–]aoeu00 30 points31 points ago

here's my solution to this and it's 100% safe and not dangerous

[–]SilentWalrus92 9 points10 points ago

I believe I read somewhere that they are remnants of blood vessels that were attached to the backs of your eye while you were in the womb. After birth they stop carrying blood to the eye and eventually they break apart and the debris float around your eyes.

[–]Techloss 4 points5 points ago

It gets worse with age as well due to the focal length of your eyes changing slightly as you age, it's like a fucking snowstorm for me some days.

[–]DraconianCarbonUnit 0 points1 point ago

[–]tamorales96 129 points130 points ago

Am I the only one around here that assumed/knew everyone saw these?

[–]sentimentalpirate 30 points31 points ago

I know. I thought it was pretty strange that the OP felt the need to explain them.

[–]nexemos 4 points5 points ago

as a person who has never seen floaters, do you see them all the time, some of the time, or only during certain conditions are being met?

[–]tamorales96 8 points9 points ago

I rarely see them, but when I do I'm in bright conditions(like outside on a sunny day). I can't remember the last time I saw them, but I remember them being alot more frequent when I was younger.

[–]ch00d 4 points5 points ago

For me, I see them usually when I look at the sky.

[–]aevv 8 points9 points ago

no

[–]LeRequin 28 points29 points ago

finally an explanation, i always just thought my eyes were fucked up, i feel a little relieved now

[–]bigshotguy 2 points3 points ago

I feel the same way.

[–]chiefbigpooh 30 points31 points ago

I SEEN'T IT

[–]funkyrailroad 13 points14 points ago

[–]EmcOnTheRocks 20 points21 points ago

that says it usually comes from age. I can remember seeing mine when I was a young teenager, and still to this day.

[–]Rory_B_Bellows 22 points23 points ago

Hell, I started seeing these when I was six.

[–]eelassirak 10 points11 points ago

Samesies.

[–]Taylorseim 8 points9 points ago

Me three. I don't remember not seeing this.

[–]scamps1 4 points5 points ago

I see them best when lying on my back on a clear day, or at least thats when I notice them most.

I first noticed as a kid too

[–]Keklols 18 points19 points ago

What I call "floater" is something completely different...

[–]I_FISTED_MY_GRANDMA 18 points19 points ago

Dead bodies.

[–]donnellyrfc 11 points12 points ago

your comment made me less surprised when i read your name

[–]LockjawTheOgre 7 points8 points ago

Eat more fiber.

[–]nearlycivil 7 points8 points ago

Thanks for making me notice my own.

[–]ogotrice 50 points51 points ago

THANK GOD; I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.

[–]buck_mcqueen 23 points24 points ago

Yea had these when I was a kid. Used to pretend I was half cyborg and they were graphics in a built in terminator style heads up display

[–]derpina562 3 points4 points ago

I've had these my whole life. Why did I never think of this? I feel like I wasted my childhood now.

[–]playingnice 6 points7 points ago

It's not too late.

[–]injekted 6 points7 points ago

I always thought it was just tiny dust particles on my eyeball.

[–]Ogel6000 8 points9 points ago

I get those every day. I enjoy playing around with them, centering them over various objects, and following them around. Like a cat and a laser pointer.

[–]evanman69 2 points3 points ago

Laser Cats.

[–]yelahjones 6 points7 points ago

Does everyone not have these? I see them but I never stopped to think if anyone else did.

[–]iXRazor 3 points4 points ago

I don't.

[–]gadesxion 5 points6 points ago

Do you people really not know what a floater is?

[–]Radiant_Radius 5 points6 points ago

When I was a kid, I thought these were what atoms and molecules were.

[–]leddible 5 points6 points ago

I have these all the time but they're usually blood red. Is that as bad as it sounds?

[–]sky4 4 points5 points ago

could be a detached retina... i'd see a doctor homes.

[–]leddible 3 points4 points ago

Yeah I've been wondering that lately. My eyes are constantly bloodshot (large bright red vessels through the eyes) and occasionally (few times a month) I'll have instances where my eyes/vision will involuntarily vibrate back and forth and then return to normal. I thought the vibrating was all in my head until my girlfriend got scared shitless while staring into my eyes..

[–]sky4 6 points7 points ago

dude seriously see a doctor ASAP. there's a number of things that can fuck your vision up badly and a lot of them can be treated/cured if you get medical attention NOW.

[–]Rob1150 2 points3 points ago

Holmes.

[–]Sweatshop_Owner 3 points4 points ago

I actually love these things, they come and go, and they are my only friends.

[–]basec0m 2 points3 points ago

I think there was a recent post about this.

[–]akuracy 2 points3 points ago

I feels your sees bro.

[–]knowses 2 points3 points ago

My floater looks like an upside-down question mark. Some day when I die, I will be walking down a beautiful hallway with doors on each side. Each door will have a unique symbol on it. These symbols will be a beacon to those who have passed and let them know where they need to go. When I see my floater on a door, I will enter and face my destiny. And there will be a bunch of socially awkward Redditors there who will say they read my comment and wanted to congratulate me on my death. This was a fantasy.

[–]ThePhantasm 1 point2 points ago

I never talked about these things in my eyes. I always thought I was just crazy

[–]HerpJersey 1 point2 points ago

Every single person in the world has this.

[–]Dr___Awkward 0 points1 point ago

I don't.

[–]HerpJersey 5 points6 points ago

You can't see it by trying to look for it. You just notice it and try to follow it, but never catch up.

[–]iXRazor 0 points1 point ago

Not me.

[–]hyperacti 5 points6 points ago

You've never laid down to stare up at a clear blue sky then.

[–]elsparx 1 point2 points ago

I have one of these bastards right in the centre of my vision on my right eye, so damn annoying.

[–]Godfodder 1 point2 points ago

Im pretty sure everyone has them. But maybe i'm wrong.

[–]mike1343 0 points1 point ago

I see drops of water but it's like that :-/ I don't think my eye doctors have ever believed me though

[–]jerry_autumn 0 points1 point ago

mine don't bother me, i have way more than in the gif but i'm over it, and have been for 18+ years

[–]newfoundgirl 0 points1 point ago

Ive seen that before in my eye but its not constant

[–]InkedNurse 0 points1 point ago

I have so many and they are always directly in the line of my vision, not the corner of my eye. I can be distracting.

[–]Thorminathor 1 point2 points ago

Iv'e noticed these my entire life I thought they were something everyone saw/has.

[–]Skodaman1 0 points1 point ago

I was told they were angels. Catholic education for you right there...

[–]Mike1994 1 point2 points ago

[–]RelevantRoll 0 points1 point ago

No shit.

[–]Niren7 0 points1 point ago

Yep I have one of those too. :( Annoying as hell.

[–]wrentintin 0 points1 point ago

At least these are clear. I have a black one that I see everywhere I look :(

[–]Mystery_Meatbag 0 points1 point ago

I've had mine since college. One of them is really dark. Every once in a while I'll mistake it for a bug flying around in front of me

[–]cshouston 0 points1 point ago

I started getting these around age 16 and I hate them so much. My optometrist refused to perform a vitrectomy to correct it though. They're so numerous and clustered so bad that in bright light situations (such as midday outside with no sunglasses on) it's as though I have black oil swirling around in my eyeballs. It's disconcerting and uncomfortable, but over the past fifteen years I've managed to teach myself to ignore it better.

[–]Good_Guy_Zach 0 points1 point ago

I once saw a bunch of these, turned out I had something called Uveitis in my eye.

[–]bigtpsychoboy 0 points1 point ago

I have a LOT of these. Can be pretty annoying, but you learn to live with them.

[–]teeelo 0 points1 point ago

PROTIP:

Wait for sunny day, look straight down and squint.

You can get a damn good look at them.

[–]radii314 0 points1 point ago

if only i had so few - my vision (when looking at blue sky is more like this https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR2Vvw495mLQi1vNWRItwHGDoaiuq9fdRWZthPevrN97EbL03T6

[–]GapingVagina 1 point2 points ago

I always thought it was from my contacts, guess I was wrong

[–]Dominoes282 0 points1 point ago

Are there people without this? Everyone I've asked about it said they have it.

[–]flomoloko 0 points1 point ago

I named one of mine "runner" because it looks like a stick figure dude running mid stride. This when I was like 12, I'm 45 now and it's still there.

[–]whynotquebec -1 points0 points ago

Awwww maaaan, that got me thinking about breathing on manual, my tongue can't find its place and that stuff.

[–]Sairakash 0 points1 point ago

I have white blood cells too!

[–]shortbuswizard 1 point2 points ago

These only are bothersome when you suddenly are reminded you have them. Like right now. Thanks mate.

[–]Guruking 1 point2 points ago

I went swimming once and when I came up from underwater I saw tons of floaters in my eyes. Dozens of them were clouding my vision and I ended up having a panic attack. I see them pretty consistently in white backgrounds but I've learned to deal with it.

[–]evanman69 0 points1 point ago

Those and a black dot in my sight since I was born.

[–]lyreekxz 0 points1 point ago

They're called Muscae Volitantes

[–]SirChucklez 0 points1 point ago

I do competeative riflery (highpower XTC service rifle for those who shoot too), and thus spend hours looking through a .044in. appature. In these conditions (especialy when its humid outside or my body temp is very high) I see literaly hundreds of them flowing down about as fast as in the .gif, eventually you just get used to them and learn to shoot looking between them...

[–]JS4077 -1 points0 points ago

They are old veins. When you are first developing inside of your mother, there are veins that go over where your eyeballs are/will be, but later the veins are no longer used and 'dry up'. They don't completely go away and what you see are tiny, empty, old veins.

[–]LeFortIII 1 point2 points ago

I get these all the time. This morning I saw one that had a serious black spot on one edge. Freaked the hell out, but it hasn't been back.

[–]Kopannie 0 points1 point ago

I seriously thought this was normal until I saw your post....

[–]Black_Diamond 0 points1 point ago

I get these too.

[–]TheLactatingPickle 0 points1 point ago

I love those! I always thought i was the only one until going through a thread a few months back and then i realized everybody sees them.

[–]ericlikesyou 0 points1 point ago

I only see those when I get up too quickly or if i get a sudden rush of blood to my brain.

Also mine are usually outlined in neon yellow and I never see them when I have my eyes open, only when they're closed.

[–]movinonup2east 0 points1 point ago

If you use your eyes to see...who is actually seeing that which is on your eye?

[–]ogre13 1 point2 points ago

I would pay money to have that few. My eye doctor says that there are easily thousands of them in each of my eyes. Some days, I can't focus on my computer screen because of so many floaters being in the way.

[–]faythington 0 points1 point ago

I see this when i close my eyes.

[–]Folan 0 points1 point ago

I get these too, though they are just small circles, not lines. What I don't think is common is the many tiny dots that move incredibly fast in erratic patterns that I can only see in certain lights (like when looking at an overcast sky through a window). I like to think they are actual particles catching a lot of light but I know that it's probably not possible..

[–]sirtrollman 0 points1 point ago

Good! I thought that I was the only one that had those. I have black floaters though. Is that normal?

[–]CapnKetchup 0 points1 point ago

Never had one, I must be genetically superior.

[–]MEANMUTHAFUKA 1 point2 points ago

I don't have any floaters, but I do have a black dot that behaves in a similar way. I only see it in bright light when I look at something white or brightly colored. The eye doctor said that as I've aged and the aqueous gel in my eye has contracted, it has pulled a tiny imperfection in my retina out a little bit. What I'm seeing is the shadow it casts when light hits it at an angle. Interesting stuff.... it doesn't bother me much but ii definitely freaked me out when I first started seeing it. Much like a floater, I can't ever "look" at it.

I used to have 20/15 vision in both eyes. Now I need reading glasses. My long-range is still as good as ever; short range is a problem. It used to be that the closer I brought something (like small text) to my eyes, the clearer it would become. Now shit is all blurry and won't focus until it's about 2 feet away. This of course creates problems when trying to see small details. It won't focus until it's far enough away. When it's far enough away to focus, it's too damn small to see! It's worse in low / dim lighting. Reading descriptions on menus in fancy restaurants by candlelight is the worst.... AGING SUCKS! You get a lot wiser, but goddammit man... I hate that I have to drag reading glasses around everywhere or get some young whippersnapper to read it for me. TL;DR GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

[–]46and2ool 0 points1 point ago

I used to tell my mom i can see the air moving. But now I know...

[–]JarekBloodDragon 1 point2 points ago

Mine do not look like this at all. They're just pure black strands. Other than that the same.

[–]bob4job 0 points1 point ago

i just dropped a big ole floater. felt good.

[–]Dopepop 1 point2 points ago

I always thought I was the only one who saw these! It gave me anxiety attacks a few times. I never wanted to tell anybody about it because I was scared they'd notice their own floaters and get freaked out themselves

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

you look away and they are still right in the middle of your freaking eyeball hate them

[–]BustenJustin 0 points1 point ago

I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE

[–]LovelyLlama 0 points1 point ago

I have these really bad. It messes with my brain really bad, too.

[–]Smokeeye123 0 points1 point ago

This is literally the 5th fucking time ive seen this in the last year. Fuck you OP.

[–]A_1337_Canadian 1 point2 points ago

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

[–]Yipfrr 0 points1 point ago

These are Little fragments of your eye getting stuck in the vitreous humor between the lens and the retina. What your seeing is the shadow it is casting on your retina. Normally our eyes would adapt to this but since it is actually moving around in the vitreous humor ( fluid of the eye ) our eyes don't have time to adapt and don't go away

[–]Lepryy 0 points1 point ago

That one on the top, I see one with that EXACT same shape...

[–]Office_Zombie 0 points1 point ago

Me to.

[–]charbroiledmonk 0 points1 point ago

Ive been scared by these ever since i saw the first episode of House.

[–]combzy89 0 points1 point ago

I am not the only one who is still seeing that shit right?

[–]daze32 0 points1 point ago

I have them & they drive me bonkers! always tried to find out what they were called & now I know. thank you!

[–]TophToast 0 points1 point ago

I see them too, polka dots and squiggly strands

[–]mister_nish 0 points1 point ago

EXACTLY WHAT I SEE TOO!!

[–]Decyde -1 points0 points ago

You have worms in your eyes.

[–]BoilerMaker11 0 points1 point ago

I didn't know they were called "floaters" until Family Guy did a cutaway about it, but I was obviously aware of them. I, thinking I was some sort of scientist, used to think that when I see them, it's because water magnifies (I get them mostly when I rub my eyes and they become watery) and because the water is in said eye, I was actually seeing the germs/microbes in my eye

Obviously I was wrong

[–]Uredus 0 points1 point ago

I've been seeing these for years, nobody ever knew what I was talking about. Thank you Reddit, for proving I'm not crazy.

...well, thanks for telling me these are real anyway.

[–]wwwhistler 0 points1 point ago

i think that is just dust on the surface of the eye...floaters are in the eye.

[–]RonaldFuckingPaul 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, we know. Everyone does.

[–]ilikeguitarsandsuch 0 points1 point ago

Can someone explain what actually is happening when this occurs? This only happens to me when waking up into bright light or something like that.

[–]themuddaload 1 point2 points ago

I have this, unlike most of you it would seem, they really don't bother me. I only really see them when its bright outside and I'm looking out a windshield or something.

[–]sceezy 0 points1 point ago

...so does everyone else?

[–]amcs12301 0 points1 point ago

Me too!

[–]a_view_from 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for posting this. I've had floaters for as long as I can remember and no one would believe me when I was little. Still today when I mention it to someone who doesn't have floaters they have no idea what I'm talking about. But now I can't help but notice the floaters in my vision as I looks at the computer screen... thanks a lot.

[–]Blackface420 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit! I always thought I had a scratch on my eyeball or something.

[–]losapher 0 points1 point ago

Don't we all?

[–]PakPak96 0 points1 point ago

What are those things anyway?

[–]pinstripestockings 0 points1 point ago

My BF has retinitis pigmentosa and constantly sees hundreds of these floating around.

Tried explaining these to my friends and they all thought I was crazy.

On the topic of visual phenomenons, I have something quite interesting, visual snow. I always thought that everyone saw this way, but after asking about it, I figured out that I'm not normal.

never heard, or should I say seen, of such a problem

[–]SmoothOperator89 0 points1 point ago

According to my optometrist, these are strands of protein.

I see these but I also see two little blurry dark dots, are those the same?

[–]FeelinFroggy 1 point2 points ago

I have those dots too....curious as to what they are

FUCK YOU. One minute ago, while browsing reddit I couldn't see mine. NOW THAT'S ALL I SEE.

Fuck you sir or madam.

Worst thing is getting into an accident and bumping your head, all your floaters get tossed up and in your line of sight. Apparently your eyes has had lots of them over the years and they settle down in the lower part of your eye.

I hate white rooms, specs and worms everywhere.

Finally! I have been staring at the sky for years because it gave me enough light to make them easily visible for myself. So glad that I'm not alone.

[–]sh2248 0 points1 point ago

Really. I see them too. Glad to know others are like this. I usually only see them when I'm on the chairlifts up in mountains when I'm skiing

[–]fgcpoo 0 points1 point ago

Ugh, try having HPPD.

[–]szlash280z 0 points1 point ago

I fuckin hate those. I have them in one eye and they change shape sometimes. sucks

[–]Aswas 0 points1 point ago

Nutritional problem. I had those for years when I was young. They went away when I started paying attention to what I was eating.

[–]Nooblz 0 points1 point ago

Wtf? This is common? I've never seen or heard of these

[–]OrionH 0 points1 point ago

I have never had these and am grateful.

[–]antithing 1 point2 points ago

isn't this normal at times ?

[–]804R 0 points1 point ago

Wait, those aren't normal?

[–]AnnabelCotton 0 points1 point ago

My brother sees plenty of them since he received a plastic dinosaur thrown by my sister in his eye. She was kinda hyperactive.

[–]Lokarn 0 points1 point ago

I see a lot of those, I also see weird black things vibrating when I look at the sky. Oh and I also see white dots exploding all the time.

[–]Ratix0 0 points1 point ago

I have floaters in my eye since I was 12 (and I'm 24 now). I'm pretty used to it, the amount of floaters in my eye arn't too much (I guess about 5-7 per eye, can't really count since they move together with the eye).

It isn't really much of an annoyance until I started using the microscope. Damn these floaters are really really annoying whenever I use the microscope. They become 10x more distinct when I'm trying to see some sample under the optical microscope.

[–]holycowitschris 0 points1 point ago

Me too!. Hate hate hate them!

[–]bernhardh 0 points1 point ago

Recently I've been trying to put together some images to approximate the constellations that I see...

I'll just leave this here: http://mouchesvolantes.bernhardh.com/
