Every single time I read that post I lose it. Normally right around "I've never even so much as SPIT on a geraffe" because imagining somebody trying to angrily spit on a giraffe is just fucking hilarious. Like what is the hierarchy of giraffe interaction for this guy? 1) observe giraffe 2) curse at or insult giraffe 3) SPIT ON GIRAFFE 4)attempt to injure giraffe? I just don't get it but I love it.

              They tranquilized it and it died of cardiac arrest. Giraffes are very difficult to sedate safely because of the huge strain their hearts and lungs are already under.

                    Yeah it's quite a load on their already heavily loaded lungs/cardiovascular system. Pumping oxygen with those small lungs all the way up there is not easy.

                    It's my understanding that Giraffe's are very sensitive when it comes to the positioning of their neck. It seems like if a Giraffe's not conscious, it wouldnt be able to regulate it's breathing if it sensed there was an issue.

                    If you were sleep and someone covered your mouth, you would wake up.

                    If you were tranquilized and someone covered your mouth, you would probably die.

                      Deer and boar can cause fatal car accidents. A giraffe is a bit larger.

                          It doesn't take much. A giraffe of my acquaintance died in surgery being done by some of the best large animal vets around. They're very delicate that way.

                                    Every Saturday Matt would take his little sister to the zoo. Matt would always buy her an ice cream cone. Her name was Anne.

                                    Matt and Anne had an agreement, that if anything bad were ever to happen, they would meet across the street at the fountain outside the museum. Matt even practiced with Anne a few times, letting her get lost in the crowd, watching from a distance, making sure she would make her way to the fountain, icecream cone in hand.
