[–]whitcliffewick 2 points3 points ago

they always put stuff up, i might start posting them more often

Some of the stations have an awesome sense of humour, they do things daily, as do Angel. Earls Court do but they're not as funny as the others.

You need a map to actually FIND the station with iOS6

(I tapped on the station physically on the map before searching for it.. Showing that it's actually on the map but, you can't search for it and find it)

Just bought an HTC Desire C, don't know whether to be smug or not. But I am happy :-)

That wasn't water.

Pretty much any other smartphone owner can sit back and laugh at this. The iPhone now has the worst mapping service of them all.

I post in pics - 6 karma Some else repost in london - 89 karma TIL americans don't get british humor!

I'm American and love this! I'm also incredibly envious of your rail system, but that's another discussion. :)

[–]mishagale 6 points7 points ago

I love the way Americans think we have a great rail system. Yours must be basically Thomas the Tank Engine to envy our bolloxed up system. We have probably the least reliable, most expensive rail network in Western Europe.

EDIT: I'm going to guess downvoters have never travelled in Holland, Germany, France or Switzerland. Hell, even the Italians probably have a better rail network than us.

[–]live_wire_ 5 points6 points ago

You assume America has a rail system.

[–]geekchic 5 points6 points ago

It has - mainly for freight.

In Europe we move people by trains and cargo by roads. In the USA its the other way round.

[–]essjaye81 1 point2 points ago

That is an insult to poor Thomas.

[–]mishagale 2 points3 points ago

New Thomas or Old Thomas? Because New Thomas is rubbish and deserving of insult.

[–]essjaye81 0 points1 point ago

Definitely old!

[–]guitarromantic 1 point2 points ago

I've caught inter-city trains in the USA and it's a different world over there. Nobody seems to use them and their stations can sometimes be tiny box rooms in the middle of nowhere, even in major cities.

[–]blueskin 1 point2 points ago

You wouldn't be if you realised how expensive it was. Most expensive in the first world without any of the reliability; and we don't even get good Japanese-style trains for our stupidly expensive tickets, just trains that smell of piss, crawl along at about 5mph, and are late 4 days out of 5.

Sure, we have a large network, proportionally, but don't mistake that for quality.

That said, the tube in London is significantly better than National Rail, but still not what I'd describe as good, and still expensive.
