A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

A brilliant brilliant game.

Though I don't really think it needs a HD remake. What it does need is a release on steam or similar, with a new patch fixing some small problems like the conveyor belt on the Third* year being unpassable if you have a fast computer.

Edit: I was wrong about what year the conveyor belt was in.

[–]MSnap 0 points1 point ago

That was an elevator.

[–]UncleGooch 0 points1 point ago

I stopped playing after I couldn't progress because of that glitch. Is it worth starting again with the patch?

[–]MSnap 0 points1 point ago

Hell. Yes. It has one of the best stories of any game I have ever played. I got stuck in Rubacava for a long time, but the story only gets better as you go on.

[–]boohoopooryou 0 points1 point ago

i used cpu killer to bring down the speed of the cpu so i can get back on the conveyor belt. once i passed that part, saved and then turned off cpu killer and continued the game with no issues.

or try THIS

[–]Zahz 0 points1 point ago

Last time I played the game I too used the cpu killer :D

[–]throwawaaaayasdaas23 0 points1 point ago

it is also fixale by using cheat-engine's speedhack and setting it to like 50x speed.

[–]mendicantbias69 1 point2 points ago

definitely agree. I've wanted to play this game since I would see ads for it in Star Wars Tie Fighter when I was a youngin, and know that consoles rule I have no idea where to go to get this game.

[–]jozaud 0 points1 point ago

The controls need work too...

[–]Zahz 0 points1 point ago

I never thought the controls were bad. To me the controls were not perfect, but they sort of gave a nice feeling of actually being in the game.

[–]HessExpress13 20 points21 points ago

A thousand times YES! It's still so much fun!

[–]UbiquitousCheese 2 points3 points ago

I'll throw in a wild "FUCK YEAH" for good measure as well.

Excelsior!

[–]Girricane 0 points1 point ago

Holy crap am I glad I read the comments!

[–]Hunt252 6 points7 points ago

Full throttle hd remake would be pretty awesome too

[–]listerialiberal 0 points1 point ago

Full Throttle was EPIC!

[–]Hunt252 0 points1 point ago

Yes it was. I still remember my first time seeing the open credits that was the most bad ass shit ever when I was younger

[–]Catfish0 8 points9 points ago

Hell, it just needs to be released on stream and I'd be happy.

[–]lappy482 4 points5 points ago

*steam

[–]bfsvd 5 points6 points ago

Full Throttle, Fahrenheit (Indigo... something in USA:) ), Longest Journey

[–]dougtulane 2 points3 points ago

Wonderful characters, subtle humor, great, epic-feeling plot. I loved this game so much.

[–]Kikmi 2 points3 points ago

Been begging for this in my mind for ages now, this and Discworld. mmmm yes please!

[–]TheOakster 2 points3 points ago

Probably the best adventure game there is

[–]douglas_ 2 points3 points ago

Owned by LucasArts

Not Star Wars

Don't count on it. LucasArts is too chicken shit to risk making something not Star Wars related these days

[–]rumnscurvy -1 points0 points ago

Yes, that's why we don't have two HD remakes of Monkey Island out.

[–]Nickerchen 1 point2 points ago

The game isn't even on gog yet

[–]frankts1 1 point2 points ago

This is probably the best adventure game ever made.

"What's that little kitty? I don't want you talk, kitty. I want you to RUN BABY!!!"

I was honestly sad when this game ended and I still miss these characters.

[–]GenericCommentGuy 3 points4 points ago

Never heard or seen this game but what is it about?

[–]Stamp_Mcfury[S] 12 points13 points ago

It's a point and Click game created by Tim Schafer that came out in 1998. about person who has to become a travel agent in the land of the dead. It has a Film Noir and Aztec culture mixed together with Schafers great writing in it (It's my Scythe I like to keep it were my heart used to be).

While this game didn't do so well at release it has a cult following. I would love to see a HD remake on steam or even Xbox market.

Trailer for it here

[–]Kartikaya 4 points5 points ago

Most people would associate Dia De Los Muertos art style with Mexico. You are kind of correct, as it has Aztec origins, but still...

Edit: Also Manny doesn't have to become a travel agent, he is one when the story starts. Spoiler-free summary. You're a travel agent for the dead and there's something shady going on in the business.

The Humor really makes the game what it is. Hard to judge just by a description.

[–]Davey_Jones 1 point2 points ago

I played this game. I liked this game. But some of the puzzles were hard as fuck. Constantly had to look at walkthroughs trying to figure out what the game wanted me to do

[–]Kartikaya 0 points1 point ago

I think that was the intent. Tim Schafer mentioned in an interview that the old games weren't supposed to be easy, that you were supposed to stop playing and still be thinking of different ways to solve puzzles you were stuck on. I don't know if I agree, but I used to love the epiphany moment when I figured out the more difficult ones. (I don't even think I knew what a walkthrough was when I first played this game).

[–]Doro1234 0 points1 point ago

Forklift and elevator. I was stuck on that puzzle for a very very long time...

[–]MSnap 0 points1 point ago

You don't point or click in it. It can also be played with a controller.

[–]kommando04 1 point2 points ago

"Love? Love is for the living, Sal. I'm only after her for one reason, she's my ticket out of here."

HD remake. Sequel. Prequel. Gimme something!!

[–]Uranium234 1 point2 points ago

My scythe, I keep it where my heart used to be

[–]mmmmdumplings 1 point2 points ago

And Day of The Tentacle!

[–]Callisto34 0 points1 point ago

This and Starship: Titanic.

Pretty please? =C

[–]boejangles 0 points1 point ago

This was one of the few games i played as a young teen that i actually finished. I loved this game it really made me work to beat it.

[–]NighthawkXL 1 point2 points ago

I'm sure it's on the list somewhere... let Tim Schafer, and the rest of Double Fine finish up their Kickstarter project, and by any bit of luck Psychonauts 2. That is, if LucasArts doesn't still retain the rights to it... if that's the case I fully expect the Lucas camp to want big bucks for a remake.

[–]MaidenMadness 0 points1 point ago

GoG release first please.

[–]Lumo841 0 points1 point ago

Yes, Yea and fuck yes

[–]ditchbeef 0 points1 point ago

I loved that game!

[–]SullyZero 0 points1 point ago

SPOILER FOR 15 YEAR OLD GAME. Still one of the most satisfying scenes ever.

[–]deadaluspark 1 point2 points ago

Actually, considering the reason this game ended up being made the way it was, I am not sure an HD remake is appropriate.

One of the reasons they went with the design choices they did, and the Day of the Dead style was mostly because 3D graphics engines at that time were not good enough to produce realistic-looking human characters. Schafer was against putting together an ugly game, and disliked pursuing the 3D engine because of that. Somehow, they came to this realization that while they couldn't make realistic people, they could make very convincing skeletons that would fit in with that classic style of Dia de Los Muertos. The rest, my friends, is history.

So, making an HD remake of a game whose design choices were made almost entirely based on how impossible it was to make a decent looking game at the time? Seems like a wrong-hearted design choice, to me.

[–]jimmy_three_shoes 1 point2 points ago

I'd be happy if they just adjusted the resolutions. It doesn't need to be a full on remake because that would completely change the aesthetic of the game.

[–]Bizarrems10 0 points1 point ago

I never played this game but I would kill to, I have seen bits of gameplay and it looks fantastic. REMAKE IT DAMN IT

[–]Bigoldmrchris 0 points1 point ago

Oh we can only dream.....(Sigh)

[–]charlestonjigger 0 points1 point ago

Dear lord fix the controls. Make it actually point and click.

[–]boohoopooryou 0 points1 point ago

VANITY my favorite kind of SIN.

[–]partofthevoid 0 points1 point ago

Metal Warriors for the SNES

[–]straydog13 0 points1 point ago

this would be awesome. on the subject, I'd love to see more games using new resources and computing power to create some badass hand drawn games - I mean this is the most beautiful and atmospheric game I've ever seen and I wanna see what we can do with more muscles in our systems.

[–]boohoopooryou 0 points1 point ago

it's a perfect "Casablanca" ending.
