The person who made the movie in question does seem like an idiot slime ball, and also a criminal and a liar and a bad filmmaker. Not that it would matter if the protests were about books by a brilliant intellectual like Salman Rushdie, either way violent protests against something found "insulting" are silly and counter-productive, of course.

Depends on the opinion really. I don't think many people would object to calling a women beating, gay hating, foreigner bashing, white supremacist a "slime ball".

I didn't say he was. I don't follow the news much, and haven't even seen the video. I was just pointing out that we tend to judge people based on their opinions and actions; so it seems to follow that his slimeball status in influenced by whatever he said or did.
