Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Crosspost this to /r/bulldogs. A sleeping bulldog that's sitting upright. Surprise level: none.

[–]dodo_bird 443 points444 points ago

[–]Zhukka 264 points265 points ago

That is very sad

[–]beanielove 59 points60 points ago

The more you know. Oh, this is terrible. My heart just broke a bit.

[–]WIDE_OPEN_BEAVERS 36 points37 points ago

Try watching the rest. Like the breed with skulls too small for their brains.

[–]CJrocket 6 points7 points ago

I had to stop when it got to the culling ),: omfg I can't

[–]Hedgehog_Mist 1 point2 points ago

Can't. That's enough heartbreak for one day.

[–]heywhyteboy 38 points39 points ago

Yea, very sad. Exactly the reason why more people should know about the Olde English Bulldogge. There are different looks, but all bred for temperament.

Here is a great site to get started with OEB's and other bullies!

[–]Straight6er 14 points15 points ago

As an OEB owner, I've gotta say I'll never want another breed. Happy, easy going, loyal, protective, totally playful. Mine is 35 kg lapdog.

Pic to get a feel for the breed http://i.imgur.com/pYhAM.jpg

[–]heywhyteboy 8 points9 points ago

Agreed...Best. Breed. Everrrr. (read in the comic book store guy's voice from the simpsons). 75 pounds of pure love and joy!

Laid out seems to be the default setting for mine too!

[–]free_pinga_job 5 points6 points ago

That is such a nice dog, it makes for a great workout partner I bet! Do they have a lot of stamina? and are quick?

[–]Arya511 32 points33 points ago

The part were the breeder of Rhodesian Ridgebacks talks about culling puppies born without the ridge is disgusting. Send the puppies to a rescue group that you know will have the animal altered and let someone who just wants a dog not a showpiece to adopt it.

[–]AllieB28 19 points20 points ago

I wound up with a gorgeous German Shepherd who has a condition which makes her considered a liver colored German Shepherd, her body is not able to produce a black pigment anywhere, and thus she was put in a pound as a puppy because she was a reject. Spent the first of her life in a pound that gave her some issues we had to deal with later on. Sad.

[–]MyDaddyTaughtMeWell 6 points7 points ago

Her coloring is beautiful.

[–]babyninja 7 points8 points ago

She's beautiful!

[–]medusozoan 20 points21 points ago

Culling does not generally mean killing anymore. It means removing from the breeding program.

[–]seaweed_tortilla 17 points18 points ago

While that may be, in Part 1/2 this fucking bitch Ann specifically talks about killing the ridgeless-ridgebacks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xPmKIgMoUPc#t=965s

[–]medusozoan 12 points13 points ago

I just didn't want anyone to see this word used elsewhere and assume the worst. All breeders cull, it's responsible to do so and you should be wary of any breeder that says they do not remove any dogs from their breeding program ever, but do your own investigations into whether they mean killing them or not. It's just a term that people run away with too often, especially on reddit with the anti-breeder mentality.

[–]seaweed_tortilla 7 points8 points ago

Fair enough. Just clarifying that in this instance Arya511 was indeed referencing a breeder killing the undesirable puppies.

[–]medusozoan 8 points9 points ago

Yeah, that breeder is a bitch. A lot of other breeders in [and out of] the Ridgeback community came down on her for it. If people looked further into some of the things that documentary doesn't cover, they'd be even more disgusted (double merles being used as sires in championship bloodlines, etc). There are good breeders, and if you're going to use one, take the time to find one first, and weed through the bad ones.

[–]RSoul 24 points25 points ago

In my opinion it confirms that she means to kill them when she says that she takes them to "old school" vets because the younger ones refuse her.

[–]Arya511 3 points4 points ago

She specifically said put them down.

[–]auchris 39 points40 points ago

That's so sad. :(

Glad I always had dogs with proper noses/faces.

[–]nwsreddit 88 points89 points ago

"it is unbelievable that we need such an invasive surgery just to repair the basic needs of a dog... and this is in no way acceptable from any ethical standpoint we have today"

Very interesting stuff, I didn't realized so much was sacrificed to get pugs to look the way they do.

[–]Abedeus 71 points72 points ago

And now you understand why I dislike people promoting those breeds. Yes, they are great and happy dogs like all of them, but supply and demand are closely tied together, and as long as people want deformed inbred dogs, they will exist and continue to be bred.

[–]nwsreddit 14 points15 points ago

I had some sort of idea how big of an issue the lack of genetic diversity in pure bred dog was, but this is still an eye opener.

[–]my-little-pwny 19 points20 points ago

Now I'm sad.

[–]rasetten_ 45 points46 points ago

Poor pugs. Also, the infections in the skin folds are pretty disgusting..

So basically don't get a dog with a flat face?

[–]b0ts 40 points41 points ago

Or cat. Cats with flat faces are mostly just bred to look cute, even though they usually suffer from such intonations.

[–]Untoward_Lettuce 26 points27 points ago

I inherited a Persian cat once. Lesson learned: there is such a thing as a mentally retarded cat.

[–]gniknus 17 points18 points ago

My pet growing up was a Persian. After initial vet visits and putting a few pieces together we discovered she was bred by a homeless woman living in her car, parents were siblings, and she was actually a he. He had feline AIDS, was deaf, had an eye problem that caused him to have constant gunk in his eyes, plus the usual Persian breathing problems that you could hear from the other side of the house and easily matted hair (we were constantly brushing and trimming it). The vet gave him the prescription of "house cat" and 2 years to live. Remarkably he lived over 10, but he was the grumpiest, stupidest thing I've ever encountered.

[–]kiffakitty 9 points10 points ago

I agree, my cat is a Persian/Himalayan cat and it she has had a lot of health problems. Most of her health problems actually come from the ridiculous amount of hair she has. We shave her every three months, so she has fur like a tabby. Now, she doesn't get over heated, can actually groom herself, has a lot more energy, and doesn't get matted fur. Unfortunately, this breed also has the thinnest skin of all the cats, so every time we shave her, it is risky.

[–]Pawps 6 points7 points ago

This. I had a wonderful and adorable Exotic Shorthair, but he passed away 4 months ago at only 4 years old. Had lots of breathing issues (even after surgery) and died of stomach cancer. Broke my heart, I still think about him every day.

[–]einssein 12 points13 points ago

Jesus. Well, there goes all of my future dreams of owning a Pug and an Exotic Shorthair cat. Poor things.

[–]R_Schuhart 22 points23 points ago

Its not just pugs and bulldogs. A lot of pure breds have genetic problems, some due to extensive inbreeding (the way to ''create'' a new breed). If a breed is popular or in fashion, the demand rises fast, wich prompts breeders to intensify breeding programs wich leads to problems. Its stunning how much stronger bastards or cross breds are because of the wider genepool. Problematic breeds include:

  • German shepards (hip dysplasia, shortened lifespan)

  • Boxer (cancer)

  • Dachshund (legs too short, necks too long)

  • Labrador (hip and elbow dysplasia)

  • Dobermann pincher (heart problems, mental health problems)

  • Cavalier King Charles spaniel (everything, basically their head is to small)

  • Bernses mountain dogs (so over bred they are pretty much dead in 6 years)

  • Siberian husky (autoimmune disease)

  • Beagle (epelectic, heart problems)

  • Jack russel terriers (behaviour problems)

[–]roger_ranter 2 points3 points ago

JRTs (behavior problems)

You can actually breed insanity?

[–]DSchmitt 6 points7 points ago

I think that's a good question.

Let's look at wolves, dogs and foxes. Wolves and dogs are all but the same species. Ignoring for a moment the great diversity of physical differences, just focus on their mental differences. Dogs are genetically attuned to humans... they can read facial expressions, will turn to humans for help in solving problems, and behave very much like wolf pups in many regards. Even hand raising wolves from pups you won't get anything like that... dogs have the genetics for those behaviors.

Check out the domesticated silver foxes in Russia. In just 50 years they've changed the genetics of foxes to be domesticated enough to keep as pets... and they've also changed the genetics of another strain of foxes to be wildly vicious.

Now, to counter, there's a lot of people that will assume genetics over training. Training is still hugely important.

I think we can train behavior problems in breeds of dogs. I'm not convinced, however, that we have. There's a lot of people that will blame genetics when it's bad training and socializing that's the problem.

[–]rustycherry 0 points1 point ago

my dog is 3/4 chihuahua 1/4 jack russsel terrier....... now i know where he got his sass

[–]ragrath 5 points6 points ago

Nor ones with excessive skin or fur that blocks eyes/nose etc.

[–]AOEUD 11 points12 points ago

I think the lesson here is not to buy a breed of dog. Adopt one from your local shelter (who'll suffer from this genetic bullshit whether you do or not, but this won't support breeders) or if you have no choice, buy a mutt.

[–]ScaryCookieMonster 22 points23 points ago

Or adopt an ex-racing greyhound.

They're bred to be healthy, so the biggest genetic problems you see are bone cancer very late in life. Their stomachs are sometimes finicky too, but that's because of their crap diet during the early years of their lives.

[–]nwsreddit 3 points4 points ago

Just get one with an untwistable stomach!

[–]victore992 3 points4 points ago

I've wanted to adopt an ex-racing greyhound since I was 5 years old and first met some racing greyhounds. I will some day. :) For the meanwhile I'll just lurk /r/Greyhounds

[–]ScaryCookieMonster 3 points4 points ago

They're really great dogs, unless you're looking for a dog with a ton of energy or a dog you can wrestle with.

In terms of temperament, they have a lot of cat laziness in them, but still with the affection and companionship of a dog.

TL;DR: Get one as soon as you can! Better yet, get two!

[–]hurfdurfer 15 points16 points ago

Or support breeders who care about the longevity of the breed. I'm a mutt kind of gal myself, but breeders are not the problem. Promoting unhealthy and impractical traits in breeds as the standard is the first issue to tackle. Then the people who overbreed indiscriminately, and then your every day joe who thinks he should stud his dog out to every bitch that's willing.

Dog breeding is fascinating stuff. We should continue to support the right ones. Which is thankfully becoming more and more common.

[–]King-of-Spades42 6 points7 points ago

thanks for the rational discourse. My mom's friends had a sheep farm and several Border Collies to help heard the sheep. We knew them well and the dogs were well treated and happy. Until I came to Reddit I never knew that to have my dog for 16 years made me a terrible person.

[–]MrsReznor 36 points37 points ago

That makes me sad. As cute as bulldogs and pugs are, I'd be okay if we stopped breeding them.

[–]whatitslike 10 points11 points ago

I can't speak for pugs but I am very familiar with the English Bulldog. It is important to note that a great deal of these problems are accentuated by poor breeding practices. A good bulldog breeder will produce HEALTHY bulldogs, and that means they don't have cherry-eye, breath well with a slightly extended snout, don't suffer from extensive allergies, and even can give birth naturally without a cesarian section. I've seen many bulldogs that are completely healthy, and that's why I support them being here.

[–]Dakar-A 42 points43 points ago

WARNING: The first 2-3 minutes are fine, but there is footage of a nasal surgery later in, around the 55 minute mark. That is all.

[–]x3tripleace3x 7 points8 points ago

Well it's not like it surprises you with it, it shows them talking about the dog while it's under anesthesia for about a full minute before they do anything, and even when they do you can nope out of it very easily before seeing any gross stuff.

[–]moosehawk 24 points25 points ago

I just so happen to own a pug and an american bulldog and now I feel really bad. 5 minutes of that video have changed my mind about ever owning a purebred again.

[–]Untoward_Lettuce 33 points34 points ago

You shouldn't feel bad if you're helping them have a happy life. But I'm with you.

[–]ScaryCookieMonster 6 points7 points ago

There are lots of pure breeds of dogs where the intent of the breeding is a specific fitness. Basically any working dog, sighthounds, and lots of terriers don't suffer the number of genetic problems that you see in the vanity breeds.

Next time you are in the market for a pet, look into an ex-racing greyhound. They're super easy to take care of, have fewer-than-average medical issues (generally), and want nothing more than to curl up on the couch with you.

[–]CapgrasDelusion 5 points6 points ago

Hmm... How does my trophy wife go about fitting that in her purse?

[–]paisleyswift 18 points19 points ago

As someone who's working towards his DVM, I thank you for uploading this, people need to be aware of what they're getting and supporting. Also thanks for all these great documentaries!

[–]thewarehouse 45 points46 points ago

All the upvotes because people don't know they're encouraging massively cruel breeding practices to make genetic wrecks of animals for their own amusement.

[–]medusozoan 13 points14 points ago

I'm always hesitant to disagree with anyone that really pushes having or breeding English Bulldogs, knowing that they have such an extremely difficult time both mating and birthing, and that it can be a death sentence. I don't know why more people haven't turned to the healthier re-creations. You can have a Bulldog that is capable of doing things like running for more than a couple of minutes, and other basic dog functions, even agility, without danger. But it's not as cool to explain your re-creation breed to someone as telling them you spent $2300 on a dog that might not make it past 5.

[–]scout-finch 3 points4 points ago

Exactly.

[–]lingurinn 4 points5 points ago

Thanks for posting that link !

[–]LuxxieLayne 2 points3 points ago

:( poor dogs

[–]Untoward_Lettuce 11 points12 points ago

The epitome of human vanity imposed on another species.

[–]Sven2774 2 points3 points ago

I remember seeing that documentary! Wait... it might have been the original I saw, not the sequel.

Well, thanks for posting that, now I know what I will be doing for the next hour.

[–]NarwhalAMA 3 points4 points ago

Thanks for posting that. Humans are shitty.

[–]Damital 267 points268 points ago

I'd pet the hell out of that dog. Bulldogs are awesome.

[–]Carwash1152 118 points119 points ago

Half bull, half dog. What's not to love?

[–]bigbossodin 268 points269 points ago

The bull shit.

[–]TheAdAgency 45 points46 points ago

[–]srs_house 12 points13 points ago

That's a ballsy move.

[–]FuckYeah2011 12 points13 points ago

What did I just look at?

[–]COYBIG 5 points6 points ago

Actually, bull shits that are only the size of dog shits would be a good thing, but if we're talking dog shits the size of bull shit we'd be in trouble

[–]SlightlySlizzed 65 points66 points ago

I have two, I can back you up: they're fucking awesome.

Edit: Here is a video of Dexter freaking out when Netflix paused to buffer on Gustavo's face from Breaking Bad. I couldn't figure out why he was barking.

[–]Abedeus 11 points12 points ago

I can HEAR their adorableness from those pictures.

[–]Deracination 20 points21 points ago

I just wanna flop their jowls.

[–]lejade 6 points7 points ago

Smoosh them allll together

[–]stepph 6 points7 points ago

[–]Costner_Facts 19 points20 points ago

Oh man, it's just something that I think is funny. Maybe one other person. Examples:

Fact: Kevin Costner is constructed entirely of silly putty and spray on tan.

Fact: Kevin Costner played the green screen in LOTR Return of the King.

I wish more dogs were upfront like this. I never know if it's alright, so I have to awkwardly ask.

[–]cheesy_vaginas 45 points46 points ago

I can't help but think it looks like those types of dogs got punched in the face really hard.

[–]saywhatisobvious 51 points52 points ago

And they also have breathing problems because of it

[–]Kpayne78 22 points23 points ago

Breathing and other problems, but they are awesome dogs.

[–]Granite-M 28 points29 points ago

They're trying to breed a healthier bulldog.

It makes me sad that we bred these dogs to such an extent that their health is seriously affected, but damn if they aren't lovable dogs.

[–]menomenaa 3 points4 points ago

I had a coworker that got surgery for her dog to make sure it was comfortable. I thought that was sweet. Obviously I wish the dog didn't need the surgery in the first place, but still sweet.

[–]rocknroll_heart 30 points31 points ago

awww - That's exactly what my fiance looks like after $2 Tecate night and $5 margarita pitchers.

[–]JerseyIsHome[S] 28 points29 points ago

[–]Lame-Duck 14 points15 points ago

"My name is: Grizzled Snaggle-Tooth Long-Tongue", Nice to meet you

[–]merglegurgle 12 points13 points ago

I just love that the human carries this sign with them for the express purpose of parking their dog. I bet that dog has a fun life and gets all the pets.

[–]JupitersClock 24 points25 points ago

He is so fucking adorable.

[–]ArianFosterThePeople 21 points22 points ago

LOL dogs can't write, this is fake

[–]chaunceychaunt 68 points69 points ago

Where I live people would be crowded around and outraged that someone left a dog tied up outside for 20min. "OMG why doesn't he have water" "Someone call the police" "Someone call animal control"

EDIT: Its so much bullshit. My dad and I used to go with our dog to the movies. We would walk Sunny their off leash and my dad would say "stay" and in a town of 50000 ppl, Sunny would sit outside the theatre until the film was over. This was 15 years ago.

[–]iamabeautifulperson 80 points81 points ago

Portlandia - Who tied up this dog?!

(The last few seconds are the best)

[–]lostmygravitas 6 points7 points ago

I am not sure whether to laugh or be annoyed...it's like it's not even comedy but just a documentary.

[–]SlashSarcasm 10 points11 points ago

Portland?

[–]explodingplant 7 points8 points ago

I was a coffeeshop and some peeps had their dogs with them, then they finished their coffee and drove away in their matching Mustangs and left the dogs tied to the table. Maybe they own the coffeeshop, I don't know, everyone was like "...the fuck? Are they coming back for their dogs?" I stayed for an hour chatting with my father, eventually the dogs started barking. After a while of barking I went over to pet them which calmed them down. They were the sweetest most affectionate dogs. Petting them was basically like this except owl-->dog. Never did see if they got picked up, sure they did.

[–]crwcomposer 4 points5 points ago

I was a coffeeshop

What was it like being a coffee shop?

[–]Brainling 3 points4 points ago

I live in Portland, and this is very common here. Everyone takes their dogs everywhere, it's just what we do. Most restaurants will have water bowls they will take out to dogs. For the most part, the only reason dogs aren't allowed directly in a lot of local places is health code.

No on here finds this kind of thing odd at all, because "pets as family" is a big deal here.

[–]TheAdAgency 5 points6 points ago

Yep, I tie up ol' senile Granddad next to our Mastiff outside when we go to a nice restaurant.

[–]Explojo 589 points590 points ago

It would have been funny if he had bit you. And then you looked down and the sign was gone. And then you looked back at your hand and instead of a hand, you had a paw. And then you had to sit there with a sign around your neck in perpetuity, the curse having passed from one sad, lonely person to the next.

[–]boxidea 49 points50 points ago

I think I've seen that Twilight Zone episode.

[–]Lukerules 2 points3 points ago

And somehow the moral of the story was still "be careful what you wish for"

[–]nagelxz 10 points11 points ago

isnt that basically the plot for that tim allen movie the shaggy dog

[–]user7564467 13 points14 points ago

Possibly, that is if the myth is true and someone actually watched that movie.

[–]FuckingDIY 7 points8 points ago

I don't think you would be trapped too long. People can't resist petting dogs with signs.

[–]Hugust 106 points107 points ago

Slut.

[–]Piratiko 28 points29 points ago

He was totally asking for it.

[–]Damaband41 19 points20 points ago

Just look at what he's wearing!

[–]suckseedtosucceed 4 points5 points ago

He looks like a good pooch for pettin'. Good choice sir!

[–]dickwhistle 13 points14 points ago

I'd be afraid not to pet him. Seems as though it would shame the very core of my soul to pass up an opportunity like that.

[–]Joystick35 5 points6 points ago

I would pet the shit out of that little gentleman!

[–]Kela3000 5 points6 points ago

Am I the only one who read that in the voice of Winston Churchill?

Really? Just me?

Well... okay then, I guess.

[–]MacaroniMidler 4 points5 points ago

Will truffle shuffle for milk bones.

[–]ImALadyBoner 4 points5 points ago

My biggest fear about leaving a dog outside while I shop inside is that someone would steal my dog. This is why I never take my dog shopping with me.

[–]asstits 4 points5 points ago

A DOG just broke the karma record instead of a cat. I'm proud.

[–]lospantaloonz 2 points3 points ago

To all of the idiots advocating for a stop to purebred dogs: you all remind me of a crazy guy who had ideas for some people to stop reproducing. his name was hitler and is generally disagreed with. if you don't want a dog to live, fine--fuck you too. but don't tell me i shouldn't want a dog to live.

[–]Bioluminesce 3 points4 points ago

His feet... AWW

[–]infinitum17 3 points4 points ago

I wish every dog had a sign like that, or stating the opposite.

[–]ololcopter 3 points4 points ago

And here I thought Winston Churchill died years ago.

[–]marcopolo1234 3 points4 points ago

His/her human is opening themselves up to lawsuits on lawsuits on lawsuits.

[–]Gh_stToast 3 points4 points ago

[–]klahaya 27 points28 points ago

I know they're cute and all, but I highly discourage people from buying this breed. Aside from the daily grooming, the vet bills are astronomical. On top of that, you would be supporting a breed that has been ruined by inbreeding.

[–]Furthea 8 points9 points ago

Daily grooming? o.O Right

But in other news, did you know that the majority of english bulldog puppies aren't born naturally and have to be born by c-section.

[–]travis- 10 points11 points ago

Daily grooming, what. Most we had to pay was for cherry eye. My English bulldog is awesome.

[–]EntropicGravity 11 points12 points ago

but best dogs ever

[–]slickeddy 26 points27 points ago

Discourage people from buying an animal that's going to be born regardless of its health problems? If someone loves an animal and gets happiness from it, the upkeep is worth it.

[–]mojowo11 52 points53 points ago

If people don't buy the breed as much, people won't breed them anymore.

[–]touchmybelly 17 points18 points ago

Dogs are deliberately bred that inbred because people want them specifically. I would be pro adopting a breed like that but buying them specifically just encourages the market

[–]KallistiEngel 5 points6 points ago

supporting a breed that has been ruined by inbreeding

The vast majority of "purebred" dogs are heavily inbred and have a number of problems because of it. This is why I would never buy any purebred dog. I'll take the mutts.

[–]hurfdurfer 3 points4 points ago

I think you'll find that isn't true. Most people confuse pedigree dogs with purebreds, but the vast majority of purebreds are not heavily inbred. Purebreds are perfectly acceptable, you just need to do your research.(EDIT: The general you needs to do research on your breeder, that is.)

[–]scu 1 point2 points ago

Why yes, Winston, I do believe I will.

[–]Snatchett 1 point2 points ago

TextFromDog moves on to placards.

[–]callgirlofcthulhu 1 point2 points ago

I wish all dogs on leashes would have these helpful signs. I always want to pet people's dogs when they walk past, but I don't want to be intrusive.

[–]jaxspider 0 points1 point ago

Heart = melted.

[–]OrionofPalaven 2 points3 points ago

Awwwwwwwwww I've melted. I wish there was this sort of thing all over the place. There are so many dogs I'd like to pet.

[–]Hreinzi 0 points1 point ago

i think all Pitbulls should be named Churchill

[–]reynej 0 points1 point ago

From now on dog owners are known as humanbeasts.

[–]megamegerr 2 points3 points ago

All dogs waiting for their humans need to have this sign so I can pet them without reluctance.

[–]outkast8459 2 points3 points ago

That Dog sure puts up with a lot of Bull....

I'll see myself out.

[–]MrGrumpet 2 points3 points ago

Fucking hell. Look at the dog's fucking face. It's so fucking good!

[–]JamesH26 2 points3 points ago

This is cute and all but I don't think anyone should ever leave there dog outside unattended. I hear stories of dogs being stolen like this all the time.

[–]tomboygirl101 2 points3 points ago

Bulldogs r so cute

[–]trekbette 2 points3 points ago

The suspense is killing me... and I am too lazy to read all the comments... did you pet him?

[–]greyjackal 2 points3 points ago

Despite having grown up with dogs (and cats) and being a very animal-oriented person, I've been bitten twice in the last 3 years.

Once by a Jack Russell that launched himself at my nuts, and once by a Beagle (Snoopy ffs) as I walked past him.

Both were enough to draw reasonable amounts of blood (and warrant a trip to A&E - ER for our American chums - for cleaning and a tetanus jab in the Jack Russell's case)

The point is, I'm a bit pissed off that I now feel wary around mutts. Because they pick up on it and react accordingly. It's a bit of a vicious circle, and it sucks.

[–]Executive_Realness 2 points3 points ago

I would pet the shit out of that handsome bastard. #nohomo

[–]KookyGuy 2 points3 points ago

The old sleeping while sitting technique. It's very useful in high school.

[–]Mr_Winsterhammerman 3 points4 points ago

His face instantly reminded me of this.

[–]Tenauri 7 points8 points ago

It amazes me that they have to specify.

I was in Boston with some friends a few weeks back, and we walked by a corner store with a dog on the front steps. One of my friends stopped to pet it, and someone came outside and said, "stop that, don't touch him, if he bites you then I'll be held responsible."

If your dog might bite random passer-by, do you think maybe you shouldn't leave him out on the middle of a busy sidewalk??

Maybe I'm missing something.
