here is the legendary thread about a guy who had a private company boot his car so he just got 4 wheel jacks and moved the car into his garage. They were PISSED!

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3880087

Edit: found the summary on another website that is easier to read http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?s=16abc9b43711c8e5582ca7ba2b641058&p=3060584#post3060584

Edit found the conclusion http://forums.nicoclub.com/now-with-conclusion-audi-owner-gets-booted-and-is-sticking-it-to-them-t346387-120.html

[–]myopinionstinks 25 points26 points ago

Read the whole thing. Worth every ounce of attention.

[–]atigerinafrica 13 points14 points ago

Is there a conclusion? The link above just has it ending with the APS booting everyone in sight. I want to know if he was actually prosecuted for this.

[–]French87 8 points9 points ago

Why was NervousMcStabby downvoted for this? He linked exactly what the person was fucking asking for. maybe you clowns should pay closer attention.

long story short (since i actually FOLLOWED THE LINK): the "dollieman" endedup winning, even though he thought the judge was siding with the other side. he said that since the incident there has been new guest parking added, the surface has been "Reblacked" or whatever he said (i assume fresh pavement), and there has been less enforcement/fewer bootings.

anyways, you should all upvote mcstabby and actually follow the fucking link.

[–]Kwoon 0 points1 point ago

They only care about KARMAAAAAA!

[–]youreafuckinghero 0 points1 point ago

TLDR?

[–]poop22_ 2 points3 points ago

This deserves the read.

[–]Khiraji 27 points28 points ago

Owwww ow my eyes, WTF is with the formatting on vwvortex? HTML barf.

[–]sunburnedaz 13 points14 points ago

Very old thread, the updates to the board no longer support the tags on the comments when they were written.

[–]eric-tile 7 points8 points ago

It's a damn shame that whatever update broke those tags didn't also convert them before doing so.

[–]jakem789 1 point2 points ago

needs more conclusion. :|

[–]TheGrog 5 points6 points ago

Ha I remember this. Good ol vwvortex.. how I miss you Corrado :(

[–]hl3crowbar 2 points3 points ago

So wait...what happened? It ended with the boot company booting every care in existence and out hero still fighting the good fight.

I am oddly on edge about if common-sense won out.

[–]DoctorOctagonapus 1 point2 points ago

I wondered where this was. Sweet victory against the evil of car clampers!

[–]thats-a-repost 1 point2 points ago

What was the final outcome?

[–]javastripped 0 points1 point ago

I love this thread! Infinite justice. I remember it to this day.

[–]BloodshotHippy -1 points0 points ago

That second site sucks. Every damn thing on it sent me to whole page ads that try to keep you on the page. Sucks when you are on a phone.

[–]SentientRhombus 0 points1 point ago

I presume it didn't turn out too well for the guy in the end. His posts about the situation abruptly stopped (suggesting a gag order) and the private company seems to be doing A-OK.

[–]up_the_brackett 173 points174 points ago

I'm pretty sure the fine will be less than the cost of a new alloy and tyre.

[–]Knoxie_89 51 points52 points ago

yeah, but once home he would be able to remove the boot, and therefore not lose anything except some time to change the tire.

The real question is how did he get the lug nuts off? The boot's usually cover them to prevent this.

[–]cjackw 12 points13 points ago

It looks like its not a very good boot and didn't cover them, but it is still usually possible, but it involves taking apart a lot more things then just the nuts from the wheel.

[–]getmoneygetpaid 4 points5 points ago

If you cut any of the clamp/boot then it is criminal damage. And they have the licence plate of the guy who took it.

[–]Aleriya 28 points29 points ago

There was a boot incident a few years ago that was popular on the internet, and the guy got the boot removed without having to pay a dime. He was booted by a private company affiliated with a HOA, not the police, though. The guy moved the boot into his garage without damaging the boot, and told the company that they could come get their boot whenever they wanted, but he wasn't going to pay the fine. The company called the police and tried to charge the driver with theft, but the police just laughed at them and said it isn't theft if you attached your property to someone else's and they move it but offer to give it back to you. The company ended up removing the boot and the driver didn't have to pay the fine.

[–]cheeseman1957 7 points8 points ago

Yeah. Here's the original thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3880087

And here is the follow-up from Dolly Man after the court / when everything was over: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4643489

[–]BigRedDSP 6 points7 points ago

If I remember correctly, that dragged on for a while with the company going to court to get an order for him to stop contributing to the thread about it. He referenced himself as Dollyman I think.

[–]cjackw 61 points62 points ago

I know someone who did this (it was not easy since the nuts were covered) and tried to sell the boot back to the place.

[–]I_Key_Cars 40 points41 points ago

Yep. The new boots cover the lug nuts.

[–]topazsparrow 13 points14 points ago

you can still take it all off on some cars. It just means you have to start a little further back (A-frame / lower control arms).

I remember reading a post about a Honda owner that did that. The campus then tried to charge him with vandalism and theft of their property. If I recall he just paid the fines and they let it go.

[–]jonaheim88 2 points3 points ago

lug nuts are easy to cut and cheap to replace.

[–]Unclemom 12 points13 points ago

He tried to sell the boot back to the place? My fucking hero.

[–]JeffK22 13 points14 points ago

I had a private towing company that contracted with my very, very small apartment building (8 apartments) tow my car that was legally parked in an apartment space with the sticker prominently displayed. I walked to work, so when I noticed it was gone, I called them up and asked if they had my car. They said yes, and when I told them the situation, they said I could come get my car for free.

I said "Hell no, you stole my car, you bring it back." They said they weren't going to do that, so I told them I was calling the police to report them for stealing my car. Long story short, they not only brought my car back, they paid me $50 cash for my trouble. Living in Austin, it's beyond very rare to get one over on a towing company. That was one of the best things to happen to me in my life.

[–]entillthedeathofme 4 points5 points ago

I was wondering about that, how did he remove it without being able to access the nuts?

[–]pjbrady12 13 points14 points ago

He knew he would be ticketed and possibly booted due to previous unpaid tickets, so he took his lugs off when he parked

[–]JeremyR22 6 points7 points ago

Now that's thinking ahead...

[–]Eat_a_Bullet 0 points1 point ago

The boot in the photo is a cheaper version of the kind of boot that covers the hubcap. The theory is that there's no point in covering the hubcab, since you're committing a crime by subverting the boot. And anyway, you have to be a fucking idiot to remove the boot instead of just paying your fines or surrendering your car.

[–]puskunk 9 points10 points ago

fuck that. remove the boot. By placing it on my vehicle, they have basically given it to me, so it is mine to dispose of as I please.

[–]Eat_a_Bullet 3 points4 points ago

I'm sure law enforcement and the judicial system will be persuaded by this argument.

[–]Themantogoto 7 points8 points ago

2 words, Plasma torch.

[–]iamzombus 13 points14 points ago

Angle grinder?

[–]Panduhsaur 24 points25 points ago

2 words, Popped tires.

[–]23_47 16 points17 points ago

Shield the rubber with some 1/4 inch steel plating, it'll be fine.

[–]DoctorOctagonapus 23 points24 points ago

because i just happen to have a load of that lying around you know

[–]JohhnyDamage 82 points83 points ago

The kind of people with plasma torches tend to.

[–]creepyswaps 8 points9 points ago

The person doing this already has a plasma torch with them; how much of a stretch is it to assume that they'd have some steel plating with them too?

tl:dr - the person in the hypothetical situation has planned ahead.

[–]TheDragonzord 4 points5 points ago

We use a torch to cut U-bolts on trailers all the time and they're just a few inches from the tire. Never had a problem.

[–]Coffeecat90 23 points24 points ago

Step 1: put locked tyre in boot

Step 2: remove lock in workshop at home with power tools

[–]Phage0070 43 points44 points ago

A better plan would be to simply purchase your own boot. Apply it to your own car and when parking enforcement comes by they conclude someone else has taken care of the issue. Obviously you have already been ticketed and booted, so they won't do it again.

[–]lolbacon 20 points21 points ago

I did something similar in college with parking tickets. I'd park on campus without a pass and left an old ticket on the windshield. The real trick was marking my back tire with yellow chalk, which was how parking enforcement could tell if the ticket was new or not.

[–]senador 15 points16 points ago

When I was in college, there was a number of construction projects across campus. I drove an pickup truck and just parked next to all of the other contractors. I never got a ticket and I always parked very close to class. It only worked for two semesters because the project ended up getting finished and the contractors parked in a different area far from my classes.

[–]thomashrog 2 points3 points ago

Friend of mine took a picture of the "Administrator" parking sticker and went to a designer/printer and had one made. Parked wherever, whenever...until they checked the number on the sticker and almost had him arrested.

[–]pingthepong 14 points15 points ago

Genius.

[–]cubester 3 points4 points ago

I've wondered about the same thing with parking tickets. Just take a old one and stick it under the windshield. I guess they could check the date though. Maybe even write you up for fraud?

[–]lolbacon 14 points15 points ago

When I was in college I did this. The parking enforcement marked your back tire with chalk after writing you a ticket to prevent that kind of fraud, so I just carried yellow chalk in my car and never got a ticket after that. Suck my balls Kent State!

[–]leigao84 4 points5 points ago

They scan your license plate with a scanner now. So, the old ticket trick wouldn't work anymore.

[–]driveling 3 points4 points ago

You will get multiple parking tickets if you remain in the same place too long.

[–]daonemanshow 21 points22 points ago

Put the boot in the boot?

[–]cyberslick188 29 points30 points ago

What what, in the boot.

[–]shipman 11 points12 points ago

Woot woot, in the boot.

FTFY

[–]meee_owth[!] 7 points8 points ago

What are you talking aboot?

[–]Lookmanospaces 3 points4 points ago

Das Boot.

[–]minimission 2 points3 points ago

It's classed as criminal damage if you do that, and in case you forgot they have your number. On the other hand it's perfectly legal to remove the clamp and drive away providing it isn't damaged. In the UK at least.

[–]Diabetesh 11 points12 points ago

It's about sending a message.

[–]RunnerBobo 6 points7 points ago

What if his wife was giving birth at that very moment? some things are not to be missed

[–]Daemonator 19 points20 points ago

He has a spare pregnant wife too!

[–]pingthepong 5 points6 points ago

Mormon aye?

[–]skyman724 3 points4 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]itsmuddy 15 points16 points ago

what is this "tyre" you speak of?

[–]NO_TOUCHING__lol 32 points33 points ago

The tyre goes on the motorized rollingham.

[–]up_the_brackett 5 points6 points ago

It's the round black rubbery thing that goes round the wheel.

Yes that is how you spell it in England.

[–]jschall2 3 points4 points ago

That's why you take the boot and sell it for scrap.

[–]justinsayin 5 points6 points ago

Wouldn't the person who added the boot to your car have also written down your license plate info, just in case?

[–]sixpackabs592 5 points6 points ago

yes

[–]someguy945 4 points5 points ago

If you are from out of state and the parking violation is a civil fine rather than a crime, you might be able to get away without paying simply by going home.

Depends on the situation.

[–]libertyfrog 3 points4 points ago

Yep. If you remove the boot you will likely face extra fines. Also if it gets damaged or stolen some cities will charge a few hundred to replace it.

[–]Ashimpto 2 points3 points ago

Romanians... they will just improvise. They will take that boot off at home or in a mechanic shop :).

[–]I3lackcell 0 points1 point ago

You can get a full tire (metal and rubber) for like $25 bucks at a junkyard. Much less than any ticket due. Boots are usually for people with a ton of tickets so a few hundred dollars and up.

[–]AlphaWings 2 points3 points ago

Not to mention your license plate, make, model, and possibly VIN are all notated and you can have an increased fine as a penalty if you don't pay.

[–]mipor123 483 points484 points ago

why not just write "I have a spare"... ? does it become funnier with haz?

[–]xnerdyxrealistx 481 points482 points ago

Because OP is stuck in 2007

[–]Plokhi 215 points216 points ago

To be honest that picture looks like it has been resaved every day since 2007.

[–]03Titanium 43 points44 points ago

Maybe if it was saved between floppy disks.

[–]WhereAreThePix 16 points17 points ago

With winrar across 2 or 3 floppies

[–]alexjames21 12 points13 points ago

I've always wondered why this happens when saving an image a lot of times, care to explain?

[–]RoflStomper 13 points14 points ago

Lots of services and/or programs try to compress the picture. This results in a tiny bit of degradation each time since the methods used are not necessarily the same.

[–]Aquard 5 points6 points ago

You've never seen Multiplicity?

[–]infamous-spaceman 2 points3 points ago

Imagine its a piece of paper. Now you give the paper to your friend, he folds it up and takes it somewhere. If it were to say unfolded it would look pristine, but to save space he folds it. Everytime someone else gets it they also fold it, sometimes in different ways. Eventually that nice piece of paper is a crumpled, wrinkly mess.

[–]arienh4 1 point2 points ago

It's a street cam.

[–]IvannaNukem 5 points6 points ago

And taken on a Samsung Potato.

[–]ms-whatever 39 points40 points ago

I thought "haz" was only used with animals.

[–]SpruceCaboose 19 points20 points ago

Cats can't spell well.

[–]mipor123 4 points5 points ago

That's what I thought too... Because cats can't spell

[–]bigskykb 5 points6 points ago

OP is typing in a Russian accent.

[–]bigsz 51 points52 points ago

[–]Generotti21 128 points129 points ago

I think the haz instead of spelling it out takes away from how badass he is being

[–]Slowbrochill17 30 points31 points ago

I cringed when I saw "haz".

[–]oananbr 11 points12 points ago

Nothing makes me cringe more than thinking about fat guys in their 30's writing shit like "I can haz da bukkit :3. No wat u doin wit mah bukkit ;O" on pictures of cats. That and picturing them discussing which My Little Pony they can relate to the most.

[–]Slowbrochill17 0 points1 point ago

D: stahp!!11!!one!!

[–]Itisarepost 0 points1 point ago

You're so delicate.

[–]svullenballe 11 points12 points ago

Is he even a lolcat? I don't think so.

[–]Suited_Aces 29 points30 points ago

This series of pictures is actually in reverse. This guy puts the tire with the boot on AFTER he parks so that he doesn't get a ticket...

[–]Anteras 14 points15 points ago

Non-driver here, wouldn't the police punish him somehow when they find out he removed the yellow thing himself?

[–]norsethunders 5 points6 points ago

Probably, at least here in Seattle the boots are installed by Seattle PD parking enforcement. I'm pretty sure that at a minimum they've recorded your license number when they boot the car. Then it wouldn't be too hard to see if/when the car is removed and fine the crap out of the owner (probably throw in some "tampering w/ PD property" or vandalism charge too).

[–]TinCupChallace 13 points14 points ago

ah but they would have to prove that HE did it. he could claim that he came to the car and there was no boot on it. Its on the state to prove otherwise.

[–]Mrdanke 15 points16 points ago

Well, there's photos right here on Reddit...

[–]Nillix 3 points4 points ago

Plenty of cases are made by significant circumstantial evidence.

[–]The_MAZZTer 3 points4 points ago

Yup, for criminal cases in the US at least you need to prove without REASONABLE doubt for a guilty verdict.

The court may decide that the idea that some anonymous person pranked you by switching the boot off in order to get you in trouble (or other similar ideas) is not reasonable in and of itself.

[–]howitzer1 11 points12 points ago

Probably not, most clamping companies are private.

[–]Nenor 0 points1 point ago

Public here, and he's definitely getting his ticket, and probably a severe criminal charge on top.

[–]jevmorgan 6 points7 points ago

Yeeeeeeeah, it's not like the police didn't...you know...write down his license plate number or record any sort of information about the incident, right?

[–]ATownStomp 9 points10 points ago

Probably not. The police aren't responsible for parking violations.

[–]jevmorgan 5 points6 points ago

At least in America, the police are responsible for parking violations.

[–]sunburnedaz 5 points6 points ago

Only on public right of ways like the street, and only if the street is maintained by the city. On private property or private streets its all done by private companies.

[–]jevmorgan 7 points8 points ago

Well, as this looks like a streetside parking situation, I would probably venture a guess to say that the police put this boot on.

Also, if you own a business or have private property and someone that isn't supposed to park there does so, you don't put a boot on their car, you get it towed away. Why the hell would you get someone to put a boot on a car that's taking up a space you want open to your customers? If you do, then I'm pretty sure you've gone full retard.

[–]doitforthepeople 2 points3 points ago

Knew a guy who cut a boot off his car with an electric saw. I think he actually might have done a couple days in jail. Definitely would have been cheaper to pay the fine. But principles man.

[–]DoctorOctagonapus 6 points7 points ago

There was a guy who made the news in England by dressing as a superhero and calling himself "Angle Grinder Man". He basically went around with an angle grinder sawing off clamps wherever he found them.

[–]boxxa 6 points7 points ago

I actually have a friend that came out after a bar to find a boot on his car. He had another rim and did the same thing at 5am. He also had the police giving him light as the boot was put there by a private lot that the city gave authority to boot cars. Pretty awesome and a simple auto shop can bust the boot open.

[–]thattaboychuk 4 points5 points ago

I wanted to get my own boot for my university parking. Parking permit was $125/year whereas a boot was around $70 & would last four years.

On a side note, someone I know took off a boot and when they saw his car again they put 3 on.

[–]Nyarlathotep124 2 points3 points ago

Why 3? At that point, you may as well go full retard and make it symmetrical.

[–]GavinRC 6 points7 points ago

I think this guy is Romanian.

[–]Raminto 7 points8 points ago

Yup! Romanian here :)

[–]politik86 4 points5 points ago

Da. Din București.

[–]connery78 17 points18 points ago

How many reposts does this make?

[–]pixelrage 15 points16 points ago

At least 7.

[–]lolbacon 5 points6 points ago

Each time the image is saved and re-compressed for maximum shittiness.

[–]dan10981 4 points5 points ago

When the police boot you, they take your license plate number. The fine for removing the boot is pretty high I thought.

[–]deck65 9 points10 points ago

he didn't remove the boot. He removed the car

[–]howitzer1 4 points5 points ago

So...how did he undo the bolts?

[–]PrettyCoolGuy 0 points1 point ago

That's a very good question

[–]Dynoknight 2 points3 points ago

Look at the picture, this boot doesn't cover them for some reason.

[–]UpTuck 3 points4 points ago

I did this once in college I got a bill in the mail for a boot.

[–]shabutaru118 3 points4 points ago

Fortunately the township/agency responsible for booting cars is responsible for any damage these boots do to car. I'de be pretty pissed if they scratched up my wheels with one of these things.

[–]Wineagin 0 points1 point ago

Do not do this. They take those boots very seriously, grand larceny seriously :(

[–]mtbr311 14 points15 points ago

I like how they put something on YOUR car, and then charge you with theft when you do as you please with your own property.

[–]skwigger 2 points3 points ago

Like parking it illegally? I doubt they're just booting people at random.

[–]readanddream 2 points3 points ago

depends where.

[–]redditfromwork 2 points3 points ago

What if he left the wheel/boot combo where he found it?

[–]td27 1 point2 points ago

Guys I bet he just put the wheel with the boot into the open trunk...

[–]gthing 0 points1 point ago

You know they write down the license plate of the cars they put boots on.

[–]kesekimofo 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a VW, and while they have the lug bolt built into lug nut type of deal, I still can't figure it out. Unless he sheared the bolts off and then extracted the others, even then. Why!?!

[–]MrGiggleParty 0 points1 point ago

That tire is almost too well placed in the second photo...

[–]wsfarrell 0 points1 point ago

I hope he haz a spare address too.

[–]GrinningPariah 1 point2 points ago

If you're just going to give no fucks like that why not keep a metal grinder in your trunk?

[–]TheLastGuitarHero 1 point2 points ago

This reminds me of that story where this gentleman was able to put his car into his garage with the boot on it. The cops were looking to see where the car was kept and the whole time the man with the boot kept in contact with them.

inb4 cool story bro

[–]Single_Now 0 points1 point ago

I hate to break it to you all but we are seeing the inside if the tire. Notice the boot goes through the wheel in the middle? His bolts were completely covered. My only rational is that this man is a wizard.

[–]thatguysammo 0 points1 point ago

What would be cheaper... paying the ticket, or paying for a new spare tyre? o.o

[–]xPasas 1 point2 points ago

OP, you misspelled "has."

[–]lvrbnydlx 0 points1 point ago

I may be new here, but how does this post always get so moany upvotes? I swear I've seen it 5 times?

[–]diditforthelols 0 points1 point ago

I mean I'm no cop...but I watch a lot of movies. Is this not the reason you use more than one of those tire lock thing whatevers. I'm pretty sure that would solve the whole "What if he haz a spare" dilemma.

[–]YSCapital -1 points0 points ago

[–]imsweetinreality 1 point2 points ago

HAHA Brilliant, I'm sure that sketchy Armenian has a body shop connect that takes those boots off

[–]Lurkerhereduh 1 point2 points ago

The Jpeg is strong with this one.

[–]StainlSteelRat -1 points0 points ago

Gotta love VW: full size spare with a full rim included.

[–]you_been_mangoed 0 points1 point ago

I heard of some local person (friend of a friend) who parked in a lot without paying every day and was always getting tickets. He just didn't pay the tickets, so a block was put on his tire.

His solution? He sawed it off, thew it in his trunk, and just kept doing what he was doing. xD So when he DID get caught, he wasn't only charged for the tickets... he was also charged for theft and vandalism.

[–]Joco151515 1 point2 points ago

When I get booted I just abandon the car.

[–]ahuggingkissingfiend 1 point2 points ago

Bonus points: Find a parked police car, and replace the rear passenger side with the booted tire!

[–]sweetgreggo 0 points1 point ago

He still has to pay the fine.

[–]vladimore 0 points1 point ago

Is a tire really worth skipping on a parking ticket?

[–]civildefense 0 points1 point ago

THIS IS A JOB FOR ANGLE GRINDER MAN!

[–]jesse950 0 points1 point ago

Humm where have I seen this before...

[–]TK503 0 points1 point ago

Didn't realize this man spoke cat

Probably late to the thread for much discussion, but once in college I knew a guy who had taken up lockpicking for fun. One day he saw a car that had been booted and proceeded to steal the boot, good Samaritan style.

I can imagine how the phone call went:

Police: Do you want us to ever remove the boot?

Owner: What boot?

Police: We booted your car.

Owner: Yeah but I thought you removed it.

Police: Yeah right buddy. Are you saying some random person just decided to take the boot for you?

I wonder if the owner ever got in trouble.

[–]iTimmeh 0 points1 point ago

How did he get to the lugs?

Also, good job. Now they know who (they wrote your plate, car model, color etc down) you are and you'll just be fined even MORE.

[–]JustLetMeComment 1 point2 points ago

I thought those things covered the wheel nuts?

[–]DJPelio 0 points1 point ago

This has to be the 5th time I've seen this post make it to front page

[–]Levy_Wilson 1 point2 points ago

These wheel clamps never made sense to me.

"This person parked illegally. Let's put on this contraption to make sure that can't move their vehicle at all."

[–]cold_fire149 1 point2 points ago

I got cockblocked by a "boot" once. Saw this chick in college that I hadn't seen in a long time. We were laughing, I picked her up and swung her around while she squealed happily. She says, "I don't have a ride. Can you give me one back to my house? My parents aren't there." I said, "I'll be happy to." We walk back to my car, and I just know I'm about to score. Then BAM! Fuckin boot on my car.

[–]DoctorJared 1 point2 points ago

I bet it sucked when he realized the police had his vehicle information and he got a larger fine on top of having to buy a new wheel and tire

[–]mariod505 0 points1 point ago

This does not kill the fine.

[–]Unclemom 0 points1 point ago

I never understood the logic of a boot. They are pissed you parked there and so they punish you by essentially forcing you to park there.

[–]InlineSkate -1 points0 points ago

Buys $200 tire and rim to avoid paying $50 ticket.

[–]HonkyDonky 1 point2 points ago

This picture is bullshit. You can clearly see the boot covering the lug holes on the front of the rim. Otherwise you would be able to see through the center of the rim.

[–]topazsparrow 0 points1 point ago

Just FYI, to avoid vandalism or theft charges, leave the boot with the wheel where you found it.

It's generally cheaper to pay the fines than pay for a new wheel & tire though.

[–]ForcedToJoin 0 points1 point ago

Wait...there's another use for spare tires?

[–]leex0 -1 points0 points ago

CAN I HAZ UPBOATS??!! HA HA SO FUNNE

[–]wut-wut 0 points1 point ago

He should take the tire with the lock home and crack the lock so he doesn't have to get a new alloy rim and tire.

This happened to me once. I was driving a pickup and went to visit a buddy at his apartment. I parked in the parking lot that belonged to the apartment building and later that day when I left some private security firm had put a boot on my tire. I called the number they left on the "ticket" they put on my window and 15 minutes later some douche shows up in a busted ass Ford Taurus with cheap ass cop lights, and some bullshit uniform and tells me I have to pay a $60.00 fine to get the boot removed. I say no way and he says if I don't remove the car in 3 days he's having it towed, then he left. I pulled out my jack, changed my tire and went home. The next day I called this guy up and asked him to remove the boot, he says its going to cost $60.00. I told him if he doesn't remove the boot in 3 days I'm charging him $60.00 a day for storage and then a $75.00 disposal fee if I have to remove the boot myself. He tried being a smart ass at that point and said if I don't remove the car in 3 days he's having it towed. I then let him know I had already removed the car, at which point I think he kind of shit himself and said he would need to call me back. An hour later the owner of this shitty security place calls me up and tells me he's having charges pressed against me unless I return their equipment. I told him I had no problem returning the equipment, but I'm not paying any fines to have them remove it from my tire. He started screaming at me about stealing from him and how his "officers" were ex military and law enforcement professionals and that I was being disrespectful of them and not understanding how much trouble I was in. I told him I didn't think I was stealing since it was his employees that locked their equipment to my car and that there's no way that a pimply faced overweight 18 year old high school drop out that I already met was ex-military or law enforcement. He said he just wants his equipment back because it cost him a lot of money, so we set up a time to meet in the parking lot of a nearby grocery store. I go there with my brother at the agreed upon time because I had no idea who was showing up. We were parked at the very end of the lot in a large open area and all the sudden we got surrounded on all sides by about 5 of these busted ass Ford Tauruses and I think one old Mercury Sable, with matching lights and high school drop out "officers" reporting for intimidation. So the leader comes up to me, who was not the owner, and I ask him to remove the boot. He tells me its going to cost $60.00. I told him me and the owner already agreed to have the boot removed and that I wasn't paying any fine. This kid tells me that he didn't know anything about that and if I want the boot removed it'll cost $60.00. I said no way, so they all got in their cars and left. The next day I called the owner back up and asked him what the deal was. He said I need to pay $60.00. I said no way. He said he was having me arrested. I let him know that if he didn't remove the boot in 3 days I'm charging him $60.00 a day for storage and then a $75.00 disposal fee if I have to remove the boot myself. Hew said if I damage the boot then its vandalism. I said no way. He said he was calling the cops and hung up on me. 3 days later I went and bought an angle grinder from Harbor Freight for $15.00 and cut that shit off. I put my tire on my truck, and now almost 10 years later I still have that angle grinder, which surprises me because so much of Harbor Freights tools break rather quickly because their cheap.

tl;dr:

Same shit happened to me, but in the end I got a new power tool!

[–]PaulRevived 0 points1 point ago

Needs moar angle grinder man!

[–]Roksonixx -1 points0 points ago

As an English person, why are companies clamping the whole rear end of your cars?

[–]Random_Link_Roulette 0 points1 point ago

[–]busydane 0 points1 point ago

I shall file this for future reference.

[–]CannibalShinobi 1 point2 points ago

Easiest solution is to not park like an asshole.

[–]gabak 0 points1 point ago

What i dont get is doesn't the boot (wheel lock)cover the wheelnut holes???

[–]joshua20072 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only one that realizes that this is a re-post?

[–]ihateafg 0 points1 point ago

So was this in 1945 before they came up with boots that covered the wheel itself? I haven't ever seen a boot like that.

[–]It_Aint_Me 0 points1 point ago

ah Berliners. So rebellious and smart.

[–]CokeCanNinja 1 point2 points ago

The administrators will boot your car and fine you $25 dollars if you park in the teacher parking lot. One guy did anyway, so of course they booted his car. After school, he unlocks the toolbox in the bed of his pickup (rednecky area, half the people at school drive pickup trucks), pulls out a set of very large bolt cutters (probably about two feet long) and cuts right though the lock. Next he takes the boot, gets a padlock from his toolbox, and boots the parking lot enforcers car, and leaves!! The parking lot enforcer had to get a guy from maintenance to hacksaw through the lock, which took about half an hour. Needless to say, the guy who did it got suspended for two weeks, fined $50 to replace the lock, and wasn't allowed to drive to school.

TL;DR: Guys car gets booted, removes the boot, boots administrators car, gets suspended, can no longer drive to school.
