Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

So thats the eye of the tiger.

[–]on_the_ground 1 point2 points ago

It's the thrill of the fight.

[–]sanshiki 0 points1 point ago

risin' up to the challenge

[–]yev001 27 points28 points ago

I don't understand. I an animal such as this tends to shake itself dry for over 10 seconds. To achieve this shot you need shutter speed set to ~1/500 of a second.

It doesn't appear that perfect timing is required, just a camera, a tiger and some water.

[–]Fig1024 12 points13 points ago

lets all grab a good camera and go tiger hunting in the jungle with buckets of water!

we gonna get so many good shots

[–]yev001 1 point2 points ago

Jungle? There are some in the zoo 30 min walk from where I work... They get bathed regularly and are in cages...

[–]Slave2Logic 4 points5 points ago

Have you ever timed something for 10 seconds and seen how long it really is? Proof that it does not take 10 seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDVowgZgIDU (shaking starts at around 1:53)

[–]EvilHom3r -1 points0 points ago

I'd imagine it's quite a bit more difficult when you're using an anus potato to take the picture.

[–]mattindustries 0 points1 point ago

How about you cut that shutter speed in half :-P. It was taken at 1/1000th of a second. You also need to know how to use a camera, which if you are setting your exposures up the way you wanted it, you would get quite a bit of blur, and not have time before the tiger dried off to get another shot. Just saying.

EDIT: Downvoted for actually pointing out the shutter speed. Wow.

Downvoted for actually pointing out the shutter speed. Wow.

Sorry... Downvoting is rife here hehe. Here's an upvote

cut that shutter speed in half

It was taken at 1/1000th of a second

That's technically doubling it... Just FYI. But good to know, thanks.

[–]mattindustries 0 points1 point ago

That's technically doubling it... Just FYI. But good to know, thanks.

It is halving the speed, just not dividing 1/500th into two groups. If you want to see more info, she has it hosted here.

[–]yev001 1 point2 points ago

But the shutter is moving twice as fast....?

[–]mattindustries 0 points1 point ago

Oh man, I can't believe I didn't get that. You are totally right, and I must have been thinking of halving the exposure time. It would be doubling the speed of the shutter. I am ridiculous.

Post about your username you are probably sick of seeing.

[–]angryfinger 1 point2 points ago

I'll go ahead and say it. I don't think this is a perfectly timed picture, in fact I think it's a fake. There's no pose the tiger is doing that it couldn't hold for a significant amount of time. With the right amount of voodoo science it would be easy to freeze the water droplets in midair while the tiger was holding this pose. I'm sorry to say but this is an obvious attempt to reap sweet, sweet karma.

[–]g00f 0 points1 point ago

Achoo.

[–]Collins42 1 point2 points ago

Purrfectly timed

[–]suckitall 1 point2 points ago

L'oreal. Because you're worth it too.

[–]ezmacc 1 point2 points ago

Dat eye...

[–]blueeyedrpn 0 points1 point ago

Better than a hair flip

[–]JTyler82 0 points1 point ago

Any chance of a 1440x900 version?

[–]kababed -1 points0 points ago

Derpy tiger...it wasn't easy but you got it. Hats off to you.

[–]ac519 0 points1 point ago

HE IS ADORABLE!

[–]frutabega 0 points1 point ago

and so tony shook himself, and thus the stars were created.

[–]rossryan 0 points1 point ago

'Tis the one thing I am jealous of our feline and canine cousins -> they can shake dry in a few seconds. It takes me 5 minutes with a towel to achieve something similar.

[–]wanderlusten 1 point2 points ago

Other amazing animal photos from 2012 National Geographic Photo Contest.

[–]OK4U2LOVE 0 points1 point ago

I usually shake myself wet.

[–]FrankCraft 0 points1 point ago

Does anyone have something like this, but in a higher resolution?

[–]turtles_are_weird 0 points1 point ago

POTATO, I've missed you from AskReddit and thought it would be too creepy to look up your account and PM you. Hope things are going well.

[–]stanfan114 0 points1 point ago

Still hard to believe something as awesome as a tiger really exists.

[–]aliaspete -1 points0 points ago

Potato in my anus never fails to impress, bravo sir.

[–]sethamphetamine 0 points1 point ago

Technically perfectly timed would be a few milliseconds later since the shake isn't at full tilt and fur isn't creating as many curves with the water as it could. So no, this is just a properly taken photo of a tiger shaking off water. And you are just looking for a reason to post it.

[–]FroggiJoy87 0 points1 point ago

If you wanna get dry, try getting out of the water first. Stupid cat.

[–]youronlypal 0 points1 point ago

How is this perfectly timed? Shouldn't it just be picture of a tiger? I feel like perfectly timed doesn't add anything to this picture.

[–]roaming_gnome 0 points1 point ago

The stink eye.

[–]Mikebyrneyadigg 0 points1 point ago

Ah mr potato_in_my_anus, nice of you to join us again, tell us of your travels.

[–]ykhan95 0 points1 point ago

holy shite, looks fucking awesome as my wallpaper.

[–]vihil 1 point2 points ago

Oh wow, somebody likes the sharpness filter.

[–]Nifarious -1 points0 points ago

I think it's time we make Perfectly Timed Picture into PTP.

[–]epsilis 0 points1 point ago

It's not perfectly timed if you're using a high speed camera. How do you think shots like this happen in the first place?

[–]nmd0119 -2 points-1 points ago

I don't understand how POTATO_IN_MY_ANUS is such a reddit legend.

[–]Praj101 -3 points-2 points ago

Anyone else read the title as "Perfectly timed picture of a tiger shark itching self"

[–]asdfqwertzxcv -3 points-2 points ago

I have no idea why, but I first read the title as "Perfectly time picture of a shark shaking itself dry"... Took me a while to get my head around what is going on. I think I need sleep.

[–]wheatfields -3 points-2 points ago

Is this really perfect timing? Or just a posed photo. Lets break this down

  1. Naturally water droplets don't form that way when in mid air when being shaked off a tiger. Clearly the water droplets are posing in those positions.

  2. Look at the tiger's eye. When a tiger is in mid twist like that his/her eyes would naturally be closed. Clearly this is fake.

Good username
