I used to walk past that 66 stop all the time. Going towards the lake, there are always tons of things written on them. There was one near Chicago and LaSalle that had multiple things about Dick Cheney.

How is this relevant? The mods' job is to remove hateful comments and submissions in the subreddit, this submission is about someone standing up to bigotry and does not promote hate speech at all.

Because the submisson was not meant to promote hate speech but to highlight some good citizen not tolerating it. If it just said "faggit," that's hateful and not contributive in any way, which is grounds for removal. I'm sure the mods would react the same way if the submission, say, included a racial slur with a protest against it. The intent of their moderating rules is not to outlaw certain words, but to outlaw hate speech, which this is not.

Which is exactly why I initially posted it here instead of /r/ainbow or /r/lgbt. It said "I don't tolerate hate in my city. Made me proud to be a Chicagoan.

No part of me would be surprised if Rahm wrote this reply. Edit to clarify- I like Rahm. I think that him saying "I don't tolerate hate in my city" would be something that he would say.

No, I guess it's not really. It just had the wording and "tone" of a slam on him when it apparently wasn't. Just a little...odd, is all.

And I'm not sure why the down votes either way.
