Yep happens a lot to me. My ex's name is Kirsty - my current girl is called Kristy. Kill me.

[–]Space_Horse 3 points4 points ago

I have the same thing with my boyfriend. If I confuse the names, no problem. It's a win.

[–]atom1202 2 points3 points ago

ellen and erin for me

[–]Siethron 2 points3 points ago

lefty and righty for me

[–]CowboyNinjaD 16 points17 points ago

My girlfriend's name is "baby." My last girlfriend's name was also "baby." Same goes for the one before that. And so on.

[–]Hippster 4 points5 points ago

Agreed. Easiest way to avoid any confusion. Last time I tried calling a girlfriend by her name I called her the wrong one, they're all "baby," "babe" or something along those lines.

[–]Beakerbite 3 points4 points ago

Hey mom. This is my girlfriend baby.

[–]Hippster 3 points4 points ago

Me-"Hey mom, this is my girlfriend"

Girlfriend- "Hi, my name is _______"

[–]Beakerbite 7 points8 points ago

You should get your girlfriend checked out. It's pretty bad when she flat-lines while trying to speak her own name.

[–]Hippster 2 points3 points ago

Hippster's girlfriend, that is her name, that is all, good day!

[–]alottabuck 6 points7 points ago

i know that feel bro

[–]TheNoodleyOne[S] 6 points7 points ago

My ex was pretty psycho too making the name all the more insulting...

[–]TheVandyMan 2 points3 points ago

I called mine by her sister's name once. To make it worse, her sister was way hotter. It didn't work out.

[–]alottabuck 2 points3 points ago

i have also called my ex, who i dated for almost years and she was obsessed with me, my current girlfriends name. she didnt find it as amusing as i did

[–]TheNoodleyOne[S] 3 points4 points ago

yeah, mine didn't find it funny either. I had a few pillows thrown at me. haha

[–]alottabuck 2 points3 points ago

yea my ex began to cry haha thats why i found it funny

[–]Cyathem 3 points4 points ago

How do you date someone for "almost years?"

[–]alottabuck 2 points3 points ago

ah sorry, forgot the 4 in there, my bad

[–]infinitevalence 3 points4 points ago

Ex and Now Wife shared the same first name, made it easy for me ;)

[–]mr-elvis 8 points9 points ago

Tammy 1 and Tammy 2

[–]BrodoFaggins 3 points4 points ago

Yes, my mother is also named Tammy. What?

[–]lisabadcat 3 points4 points ago

My son is also named Bort.

[–]SwedishChef727 1 point2 points ago

This is one of the huge benefits to dating 3 different Sarahs.

[–]UIAudioEngineer 4 points5 points ago

That is why I only date strippers...they don't care what you call them as long as they can call you daddy and cry glittery tears all over your bathroom.

[–]jakemyers7 4 points5 points ago

sounds like you're dating Ke$ha

[–]TheVandyMan 2 points3 points ago

That's what he said.

[–]JohnWesternburg 2 points3 points ago

What if your ex's name was Mittens?

[–]TakenWithALittleSalt 7 points8 points ago

Then she was probably a cat...

[–]jakemyers7 2 points3 points ago

well this is reddit

[–]JohnWesternburg 0 points1 point ago

Or maybe her parents were feline aficionados.

[–]boji_the_dog 1 point2 points ago

He's running for president.

[–]M3ggers04 2 points3 points ago

I remember when I first did this to my fiance and vise verse. It was in the same day, we both equally felt like shit because our ex's are literally insane. I should note it was early in the relationship and we both were going out with our ex's for ~3 years.

[–]midgeawful 3 points4 points ago

The first time I gave my boyfriend head he wound up calling me his ex's name. I finished like a champ and felt morally superior for doing so, because that's the kind of person I am. Glad your lady didn't flip out and pour glue in your pubes or anything.

[–]RedWine_1st 2 points3 points ago

Do that after being married for 20 years.

[–]onfire9123 2 points3 points ago

I did this when I was in the 8th grade because all I did with my girlfriend is repeatedly trade "I love you"s over AIM. muscle memory in my fingers was to blame.

[–]tttt0tttt 2 points3 points ago

I hate it when that happens.

[–]eff_bawmb 0 points1 point ago

My girlfriend and my ex both go by their middle names, which are the same, and I've made it a point to NEVER call her by my ex's nickname. I don't get how people can make this mistake.

[–]Clayfool9 2 points3 points ago

At least you know what love is.

Here is what the linked Quickmeme image says in case the site goes down or you can't reach it:

Title: This is how I feel after calling my current girlfriend by my ex girlfriend's name...

That's how I feel when I try booty callin my ex

[–]Trenches 1 point2 points ago

I did that once, in bed, 3 years ago. Still hear about it every now and then.

[–]10thplanetwestLA 0 points1 point ago

HHAHA...I have to agree. My current gf's name and my ex's name start with the same letter, so it makes it that much more difficult. After almost slipping one time, I just call her 'babe' now. If I do have to use her real name (don't want to call her babe in public), I think for a second before I say it.

[–]not_a_name_ 1 point2 points ago

ouch

[–]DennishIrst 2 points3 points ago

Hey, look on the bright side. I accidentally called, (my now ex), Frank. I was thinking about that American Pickers show and out Of the blue I called her Frank. Very awkward

[–]The_Beez 1 point2 points ago

These make me laugh so hard.

[–]DevilsHandyman 1 point2 points ago

That's why at the start of any new relationship you think hard before you speak. Then later once you are all attuned to the new relationship you can say whatever you like. Honey, sweety. Those are good transitional names to use.

[–]Merfen 2 points3 points ago

I got incredibly lucky. My previous 2 and current GF all had the same name. In fact every girl I have ever dated has had the same name.

[–]trollCHEEFtin 1 point2 points ago

Is that name Tammy?

[–]Merfen 1 point2 points ago

Sam actually.

[–]wishihadtusks 2 points3 points ago

dude. i did that once, the next week was absolute hell for me. now i have a new girlfriend and i think i'm probably going to make the same mistake again because it's just so easy.

exgirlfriend: casey, new girlfriend: cassie.

it's going to happen. i just know it.

[–]dan2872 1 point2 points ago

I'm dating a girl named Jess...my ex's name is Jen. Really easy to mix up, especially after a couple drinks or while stoned.

[–]ilikeavocados 1 point2 points ago

My friend went from a 4-year relationship with Lara to a relationship with his now-wife Laura. Poor bro.

[–]TheBigbrue 1 point2 points ago

The first time I was earnestly slapped across the face was a result of making this mistake.

[–]ProfessorD2 1 point2 points ago

Did this the other day in a car with her best friends.

[–]wolf_pac 1 point2 points ago

That's happened to me before too. Awkward, and she got mad, but it was quite hilarious.

[–]sh33plover 1 point2 points ago

I did that once, my girlfriend made sure to squash that bug really fucking quick. Hasn't happened since, out of fear of having my dick super glued to my tummy.

[–]Alexanderh86 1 point2 points ago

Protip: Call all of your girlfriends babe. They will take it as a term of endearment in most cases and you will never get busted like this again.

[–]DrXenu 1 point2 points ago

Would fucking suck for me man. My mother-in-law has the same name as my ex and my sister-in-law has the same name as my mother.... there is no fucking room for error here.

[–]KTKittyAmazing 1 point2 points ago

My boyfriends dad called me the name of my boyfriends ex. Twice. In the same day.

[–]rolfeinarb 1 point2 points ago

Lill and Helena for me... Done it twice... Lets just say i still get shit about it...

[–]sdbillin 1 point2 points ago

Called an old girlfriend an ex's name during sex... and got away with it by changing "Pearl" to "Puuuhlease". No my ex wasn't a pensioner, just had a shit name.

[–]doomisdead 1 point2 points ago

I haven't made this mistake yet, ex's name is kelsey - current girl is chelsea.

[–]wintremute 1 point2 points ago

Try being at a family function where your half-drunken stepfather keeps referring to your girlfriend by your ex-wife's name. Not fun!

[–]pooponagoose 1 point2 points ago

Oof. I've done this before. I was half asleep when we were talking and after I said it...EYES WIDE OPEN AWAKE.

Apologized profusely.

[–]Apothecarries 1 point2 points ago

Allison and Allie. Though Allison's family and all her friends call her Alli. But because my ex was such a crazy bitch I made it so I would specifically call her Allison. A year and a half later, if I call her Alli, awkward-time is initiated.

Oh yeah and Allie's birthday was April 6th, and Allison's birthday is April 5th. GoddamnitI'mPlayingWithFire

[–]kungtotte 1 point2 points ago

I did that once in the presence of both of them. Hoo-boy...

In my defense I was drunk and their names really are very similar.
