See: "Doom doors". Doom apparently used a whole bunch of stock sound effects, so you hear them all over the place, even if it's not necessarily meant to be a Doom reference.

The sound the Doom II final boss makes when releasing its demon-spawning-whatsits is also something I've heard all over the place.

I'm interested to find a wiki for this sound clip though. It's origin and what movies it's been in. I've heard it in so many movies in my life... even probably more than the original Wilhelm Scream itself. I have never been able to find out the answer with all my searching.

Every time I hear this, I'm reminded of the Jurassic Park arcade game. If you shot carefully, the woman you saved gave you an automatic. I always blamed the gun sights being old, I always shot her.

Then again, she was being mauled by velociraptors, it was more of a mercy killing.

I've noticed a lot of this in the last couple days. I'm thinking something has changed behind the scenes with the reddit API, possibly having to do with vote fuzzing. Mostly I see comments that are in the -1 to -5 range with a (1|0) vote count.

I had to comment. Being an audio producer, the "doom" scream and the "hacker" scream are everywhere, and come from a sound effect library called Hollywood Edge. This was "THE PACKAGE" to have at one time. I have an ability to watch a movie and pick out the sound effects and what package it comes from. It's rather annoying for others watching with me I know....
