I still don't know if I graduated yet.

[–]mrpopenfresh 18 points19 points ago

Better check it out. I finished school and got a job. A year later I get a letter in the mail saying I haven't graduated because I didn't pay for a summer class (internship), so technically I did not have a degree. Good thing my job didn't go get my records.

[–]pingvinus 5 points6 points ago

In the end, no one really cares about your degrees, but about your skills.

[–]ItllHaveToGo 3 points4 points ago

The degree gets you in the door, your skills keep you there. That, and a lot of ass kissing.

[–]stinkypants -2 points-1 points ago

Shit, so I do have to graduate H.S. and I do have to go to college? And I do have to learn from it, and I do have to maintain it? From the beginning (H.S.) I was convinced that a diploma was all I needed. I wish I could become a careers teacher so I could tell it like it is....(2012 style)

[–]tt3344 5 points6 points ago

Yes and no. Depends on the job and the company. But lying and saying you have a degree when you don't is a bad move.

[–]Swift3lade 4 points5 points ago

How so? Don't lie; don't get the job. Do lie; get the job, with possibility of getting fired - at which point you are in the same boat as not lying.

[–]aevv 5 points6 points ago

and then having to explain why you were fired for lying about having a degree to your next employer

[–]dng25 1 point2 points ago

Back to zero experience and continue lying

[–]Swift3lade 0 points1 point ago

Why on earth would anyone ever fire an employee for not having a degree? If so and so is doing a good job, why would they care if they have a piece of toilet paper hanging on their wall in their bedroom?

[–]Swift3lade 0 points1 point ago

That would never happen. Of ALL the people I've hired and ALL the places I've worked I have NEVER in all my days seen that happen. I've never once needed to check or even THOUGHT to check.

When you're doing your hiring you are testing their skills, not verifying a piece of toilet paper hanging on their wall. If I see that they have a degree on their resume, then that's good enough.

The job you get is never dependent on the degree. If you fit in the work place and you do well no one would every fire you for not having a degree. That being said if they didn't at least LIE about it on their resume, I'd never consider hiring them.

[–]dvdrplus 3 points4 points ago

The truth is the exact opposite tho

[–]AngeloPappas 0 points1 point ago

False, I got an internship after graduating and had to provide a copy of my degree.

[–]reflect25 1 point2 points ago

No, some companies really don't check. I'm not saying its really common, but its not some extreme rarity either.

[–]AngeloPappas 0 points1 point ago

That was not my point. My point was that saying "no one really cares about your degree" is not true. Sure some places don't care, but there are plenty of others that do.

[–]reflect25 0 points1 point ago

Oh okay then.

[–]mrpopenfresh 0 points1 point ago

Amen to that. Some people put way too much belief into the piece of paper. College is what you make of it, not the other way around.

[–]huntercunning 25 points26 points ago

Does anybody know what was actually on the computer?

[–]SolvencyMechanism 37 points38 points ago

The internet.

[–]Neverenderer 16 points17 points ago

Nice try.

[–]C1D3 1 point2 points ago

[–]Neverenderer 0 points1 point ago

[–]Tzanthor 3 points4 points ago

[–]BVFortuitus 3 points4 points ago

I read that and still fell for it. :(

[–]gthing 41 points42 points ago

I like to think goatse came up in a case and she had to look at it.

[–]right_foot 30 points31 points ago

I got a 79/50 on my 10th grade US History final. I'm assuming the teacher hit 7 instead of 4, but by the time I checked, it was too late to change. I'm not complaining or anything, since that pushed my lucky ass up a whole 10%.

[–]Genmaken 3 points4 points ago

pushed my lucky ass up

[–]rconnelly20 7 points8 points ago

You missed the part where i cry out of disappointment

[–]fe_iron 5 points6 points ago

I don't like the anticlimactic nature of online results, so I walked all the way to the school just to see it in paper for the first time.

[–]moobo 5 points6 points ago

I believe I've seen this episode. Chick spilled beer on this guy's laptop at a party. So Judge Judy awards the guy over $2,000 for his computer that was several years old. I'm sure she could have replaced it with a new one with better specs for less than $1,000. Crazy verdict.

[–]CuriousAbra 3 points4 points ago

The law has a lot of trouble keeping pace with technology.

[–]Genmaken 2 points3 points ago

Judge Judy has seen the tech demos for the new Cry Engine and Unreal Engine. She knows...

[–]m104 4 points5 points ago

Dude, so spot on

[–]sonicspeed1500 4 points5 points ago

Source?

[–]crank1000 53 points54 points ago

Pretty sure it's from The Simpsons.

[–]DrLasagna 4 points5 points ago

it was /r/atheism

[–]lordxakio 1 point2 points ago

Ahh, that's the worst part about going to school.... even if you know you did well, you have to go through some of the weirdest shit, "how bad did i do?" .. "OmG, i must have failed the class!"... i cannot wait to graduate!

[–]Dirge37 1 point2 points ago

"so judge, do you like gangnam style?"

[–]Tr0llzor 1 point2 points ago

I feel you on this one

[–]rhudgins32 0 points1 point ago

This is how I have been feeling lately clicking on a NSFW tag on WTF. "Is this as bad as I believe it to be? Yes...yes it is" I never fucking learn

[–]littlesteviebrule 1 point2 points ago

Same thing with my checking account when I know I'm broke.

[–]Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick_ 1 point2 points ago

I once saw my grades while wearing a holter monitor. (it monitors your heart rate for at least 24 hours). I had to explain to the doctor why my average heart rate was so high.

[–]Shantirel 0 points1 point ago

what kind of file format is GIF' ?

[–]BoilerMaker11 0 points1 point ago

I can't if this is a nonchalant "fuck yea" because your grades are good...or an "oh fuck" and you don't wanna look at it anymore

[–]benq86 0 points1 point ago

also, bank account.

[–]Decyde -1 points0 points ago

We had a accounting teacher that was being forced into retirement and I sorta could tell there was something wrong the first day. It turned out on top of this, his wife was cheating on him and his son died a few months ago. We just spent the entire class time bs'n and he gave everyone a B at the end of the quarter. We still did the homework and tests and he graded them and such but we'd just chat about random crap for 2 hours twice a week. He was one of the top 5 favorite teachers I had.

[–]bucketheadshred -1 points0 points ago

Good fucking pull, my man. Where everybody finds these fantastic gifs is beyond me.

[–]Evokerofsorts 0 points1 point ago

Ive dreaded looking at my grades since th 3rd grade, by college I would simply never look. Kind of how I never look in th mirror when I was fat.

[–]Rachmaninov43 -3 points-2 points ago

Very funny :D

[–]Margra -2 points-1 points ago

What is this "internet" you speak of?

[–]Javier_Disco -2 points-1 points ago

I've never seen a post with so many upvotes yet so few comments.
