Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

Is your post not showing up? Do not delete it. Wait 5 minutes to give AutoModerator a chance to look at it; it approves most submissions automatically. If it hasn't shown up after more than 5 minutes, simply message the moderators and ask us to let it through.

I never understood why they put in something that, when you're ahead, puts you more ahead. Ok so they have someone who 7-0, no biggy we can still wi.... ac130 online, well fuck now he's 23-0 fat chance of us winning this one.

[–]kungfukai 4 points5 points ago

You've got a point, I've been wondering that myself.

"Oh this guy is really good at the game and kicking everyone else's ass, lets give him weapons and tools that makes him even more hard to kill rather than making the game more challenging for him."

Getting a lot of XP should be rewarding enough.

It's something they tried to address in the last game, albeit poorly, by having support type actions add to your streak count. They also have those shitty death perks that usually fade before you even see anyone.

It rewards you for actually being good at the game or camping. Either way they arn't that hard to obtain. It's more or less the order in which you unlock them which annoys me.

For example the UAV, yeah it's passive but if you have an actual good team that knows what they are doing it's by far the best.

It seems like a lot of games have this. In Counterstrike, when you win a round you get more money than the other team, making it more likely you will keep winning. Why are positive feedback loops so popular?

[–]RageOverdose 0 points1 point ago

Why shouldn't it make you more likely to win?

Even the most skill-demanding games, Quake and Brood War, work that way. You get ahead, you are ahead. There's nothing wrong with that design, assuming you have not designed it to be impossible to stop the rape train your enemy is riding.

Its interesting, because almost every real sport doesn't work that way. You don't get major advantages for being ahead in Baseball, Basketball and Football.

Not only do you have to make up for the opponent's lead, you have to do it under a handicap. At least during Starcraft, it feels pretty natural - you hurt your opponent, so you have the advantage. In CoD, you get extra rewards on top of just hurting your opponent through killstreak rewards. It would be like in Starcraft, every time you kill an enemy unit you get a free one.

This is a non-issue in battlefield

[–]TRAUMAjunkie 2 points3 points ago

Don't call in the airstrike, be the airstrike.

[–]jack12354 1 point2 points ago

That's exactly how I try to convince my CoD friends to buy battlefield.

That and showing them birgirpall videos.

[–]RobertTheSpruce -2 points-1 points ago

As is 'fun' in both games.

[–]rmaster446 1 point2 points ago

Like they would give control of an AC-130 to someone who can't use a gun.

Stealth bomber: Not yet guys we can go once he gets 14 kills. It doesn't matter how many times he dies!
