Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")

This seriously was the biggest problem for me switching between consoles. Especially quick time events with friends. It was like switching through languages, I would have to translate between the playstation, xbox, and gamecube controller maps that I would envision for myself. So frustrating.

For what it's worth, the Gamecube buttons are all distinct in appearance and are often shown onscreen when you're supposed to press something. I thought that was a good move on Nintendo's part.

sad. if you are not sure, do a reverse image search like tineye or maybe do a search reddit x button. at least 4 images come up nearly identical to yours. If you didn't make it, its probably a repost. If you hear some clever idea from someone and made it, its probably a repost. cmon pea poles

why is the gamecube controller the only one to use the shape of the button to tell you which button it is?

seriously, just the picture difference between big or small circle, or flat or upright jelly beans was enough to not have to look for which button you're being told about. granted these shapes were silly (i mean jelly beans, really?), but the concept was perfect. so why has nobody ever used it again? even the inventors nintendo.

its a shame.

I've been playing a lot of 360 in the past couple years and although I have no problem playing SNES games whenever I have to do the balloon pass mini game in Yoshi's Island I constantly mess up by switching around the A-B and X-Y, it's incredibly frustrating.

Ah, must be nice. I never really had a problem with A-B back then, but I've always flipped X-Y around on the SNES controller. Not sure why. At least these days I have an excuse.
