Check out the old Beany & Cecil. Cecil was a puppet morphed into a cartoon and was the forerunner of all of the adult targeted cartoons of the 60s. Puns and double entendres abound.

Yup. The Warner crew spawned the cartoon explosion of the 60s. People, not just kids, watched Bugs Bunny and Rocky in prime time. I've shown my grand kids the old Looney Tunes over and over until they now throw lines at me. "Nin-cow-poop" etc.

Unfortunately, I believe it has gone the way of the dodo, as did Chowder. Chowder was my god damned FAVORITE. Schnitzel was voiced by the dude who voices bender. Gespatcho was voiced by the same guy who voices master shake. Every episode made me laugh.
