Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Please mark spoilers like this:

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

No thank you please.

[–]moshiah 2 points3 points ago

Wow. Those can't be placed by hand?

[–]jfpython 3 points4 points ago

Yep, all done by hand under a microscope. Any ophthalmologist worth his salt is trained to do procedures this delicate.

[–]newtoschool 0 points1 point ago

You've got to be fucking kidding me. @.@

That picture is amazing and much better than the one used on Wikipedia right now. Care to give it to Wikimedia Commons? See https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cornea_transplant.jpg for the currently widely used picture.

[–]Lichtblitz 0 points1 point ago

This picture is all over the net. OP most likely doesn't have ownership.

[–]waltonsimons 1 point2 points ago

On the one hand, that's pretty cool looking. On the other hand, GAAAAAHHHHHH MY EYES!!!! JUST LOOKING AT THIS PICTURE MAKES THEM HURT!!!!!!

[–]jfpython 0 points1 point ago

The knots of the sutures are "buried," or under the surface. The rest of sutures are so small that you can't feel them. Once you get over the initial procedure, this is usually totally painless.

[–]newtoschool 0 points1 point ago

How do they insert the stitches? @.@

Ugh. I may have to go through this in a few years due to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keratoconus . I just started showing signs so no idea yet how quickly it will progress.

[–]rosebud65 0 points1 point ago

My son has keratoconus, we discovered it when he was 12 and he had a cornea transplant in his left eye at 16. It's been quite a few years and it appears that it has not progressed in his right eye to the point of having to get a transplant in that eye.

[–]Jerigord 0 points1 point ago

Same situation, so I know that feel. My right eye is absolutely terrible even with glasses and my eyes are too sensitive for contacts. FWIW, I'm nearly 33 (diagnosed at 17) and still treating it solely with glasses at this point. I haven't even seriously considered more extreme treatments.

[–]ShadowmansShadow 0 points1 point ago

I'm 31, was diagnosed this year. I've been a contacts wearer for years, and just now have gotten to the point where soft lenses aren't able to correct my vision as well as glasses. Really sucks, I hate wearing glasses. After this year I'm probably going to invest in high quality glasses and some transition lenses for sports.

[–]CorpseEye 0 points1 point ago

Same condition, I went through the transplant surgery a few years ago. It hurts a hell of a lot but the recovery isn't bad and I now have excellent vision and just wear glasses.

[–]ShadowmansShadow 0 points1 point ago

Would that be the reason for your username? I've got corpse parts in my knee, my friends call it my Zombie Knee, and my co-workers kept a cricket bat in their cube when I still worked in the office.

[–]nanan00 -1 points0 points ago

Old as fuck or third world eye surgery.

[–]mcg037 0 points1 point ago

Woah!

[–]B2D_B2D 1 point2 points ago

Cool man. This guy just need to paint his eyes with red / black and he got his sharingan :)

[–]ThePianistOfDoom 1 point2 points ago

I was always jealous of how easy eye surgery worked in the Naruto universe. "I'm dying, here, have my final gift because I believe in you, my left eye" Splatr "Jeah it's in, let's keep fighting"...

I don't even....

[–]B2D_B2D 1 point2 points ago

HAha man I laughed way too hard on this. Brilliant! Yeah just take this Rinnegan from that dead guy and put it in your eyehole. I think maybe they used duck tape. You can fix everything with duck tape :D

This is one of the highest voted pictures on reddit.

[–]CorpseEye 0 points1 point ago

I received a cornea transplant a few years ago. I am extremely grateful to the person who donated their corneas so that I could see again.

Also, in case you're wondering: yes, it is extremely painful.

[–]rspix000 0 points1 point ago

Usually they are harvested from corpses, sometimes without consent. Check this repost

[–]Jerigord 0 points1 point ago

Thanks. As someone who is likely facing one of those later in life, this was both enlightening and frightening at the same time.

[–]jesusandhisbeard 0 points1 point ago

bullshit.

[–]explosionretina -3 points-2 points ago

Ughh another Repost :( my reddit experiences today are so horrible

[–]moshiah 5 points6 points ago

It must be difficult having all this free content delivered to you daily. How do you go on? You're the real hero.

[–]jriozzi -1 points0 points ago

How many times is this going to be posted?
