Smoking weed on my hammock on a cool summer night with a clear star filled sky and the pleasant chirp of cicadas is one of the most relaxing things

[–]InsanityTowel[S] 17 points18 points ago

Reading this comment relaxed me.

Are the stars moving?

[–]CARF0XX 5 points6 points ago

The contrast and the slight shaking of your phone gives that appearance.

[–]mflbforever 2 points3 points ago

How do you know he is on a phone?

[–]CARF0XX 0 points1 point ago

Well, because I don't know why a monitor would be shaking.

[–]mflbforever 0 points1 point ago

Well I was assuming thst he could also think his monitor was moving while high. It's all good. Toke on![6+]

[–]Bunch-O-Atoms[!] -1 points0 points ago

yea, dude. i definitely think the stars are moving. i'm nearly certain, even if it's nearly imperceptible.

also i'm at a [3] right now. ;]

[–]jshuskates 10 points11 points ago

Not to burst your bubble but it's a .jpg, any moving stars are most certainly a product of your [3]

[–]deadheadkid92 4 points5 points ago

The extension on an imgur picture doesn't really matter, you can change it to anything. Like this

[–]jshuskates 2 points3 points ago

I've seen non-moving .gifs, but never seen any moving .jpgs. Is that possible?

[–]deadheadkid92 1 point2 points ago

JPEGs can't move but you could disguise a GIF as a JPEG by just changing the extension on imgur and it would still move.

[–]jshuskates 0 points1 point ago

Interesting.

[–]Bunch-O-Atoms[!] 2 points3 points ago

You're right. xD

[–]tvelev92 3 points4 points ago

technically the universe is expanding so yes ;) When I move out I will def. do this often

concept seems cool but I feel like the outdoor feel has a relaxation nothing else can deliver.

[–]JNoworyta 2 points3 points ago

i was just thinking that.

[–]drfrisker 11 points12 points ago

i can see the milky way on clear nights. its refreshing to know the earth is here to cuddle us in this big universe and provide trees.

[–]Troy_And_Abed_In_The 3 points4 points ago

I really like liked "the earth is here to cuddle us in this big universe" it's poetic in the most natural way. Uptoke

[–]drfrisker 1 point2 points ago

i think coddle would have been just as appropriate if not, better

[–]zarrin 1 point2 points ago

Cool, in what part of the world do you live?

[–]drfrisker 2 points3 points ago

dead ass redneck country eastern shore maryland; small town with very little light pollution

[–]deadheadkid92 2 points3 points ago

If you think that anywhere in Maryland has little light pollution, then you should really head out West.

[–]VALHALLA_MISSIONARY 10 points11 points ago

I live away from the light pollution and in the mountains. I don't smoke, but this picture is dead on.

Just seeing thousands of those stars and galaxies. Knowing each one could represent a solar system. Really puts into perspective our mortality, and how connected we are to this earth.

It makes you realize you are part of something. That earth is it's own living organism.

Then you see people killing around the world in the name of gods and oil. Having a ruined day because their fast food fries where cold.

And you wish they could see the world like you could.

See all the things we still need, and still can accomplish.

[–]InsanityTowel[S] 3 points4 points ago

I've always said that if aliens ever come to attack earth, they're going to fly here, see us killing each other already, laugh, and fly away.

[–]ChoaticRobot 10 points11 points ago

Looking at the stars is my favorite part of the nightly sesh

[–]InsanityTowel[S] 3 points4 points ago

I wish I could see them better. Here in Seattle it isn't clear out very much.

[–]ReptarRanger 5 points6 points ago

I have the same problem. Astronomy is quite difficult to study in a cloudy city.

[–]MostlyIronicLatinGuy 1 point2 points ago

At least it's been clear recently, though!

[–]ChipotleM 1 point2 points ago

I couldn't agree more man. I love just sitting and looking up and thinking. I always feel pretty renewed afterwards.

[–]trupakehd 0 points1 point ago

Is there a way that you could make this in Wallpaper version with the text still there? Much appreciated.

[–]Sleuther 3 points4 points ago

If people could SEE the stars outside of their house anymore I bet they would live a lot differently.

[–]MadBroRavenas 2 points3 points ago

technically, people sat outside for many years during medieval ages and even before that... they all saw the dark abyss and wondered WTF is that. Unfortunately though, it did not help them to live a lot differently. ;(

[–]Br420den 2 points3 points ago

And there is a line that connects all the constellations!

[–]billlampley 2 points3 points ago

I love looking at the stars, all the time. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I can see them well on clear nights.

[–]BillyBad37 1 point2 points ago

I watch the stars almost every night, but I am still an extremely bitter, anti-social, misanthropic, depressed, self-loathing bastard. However, trees really help me chill the fuck out and not be so hateful so I can finally enjoy living. I'm living proof that weed is a life saver for people with social-anxiety, depression, and a generally bleak outlook on life.

[–]kingwi11 0 points1 point ago

They did up until about a hundred years ago.

[–]Uluvmylean 1 point2 points ago

Good ol' Calvin and Hobbes. The comic that pretty much shaped and defined my childhood.

P.S. I might be a little high but I think I can vaguely see a full map of the Earth in the stars.

[–]speakforthetrees23 0 points1 point ago

I love Calvin and Hobbes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

This made me think of the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote

"If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile."

[–]VomitGolem 1 point2 points ago

The left side cluster of stars is the same as the right side cluster.

:(

[–]infin 2 points3 points ago

[–]therestruth 2 points3 points ago

:O Thank you! that is more amazing. It's like a bubblegum galaxy.

[–]VomitGolem 1 point2 points ago

Awesome!

[–]aleatoryEpiphany 0 points1 point ago

Wow! Thank you so much for making and/or posting that. :D I has a new background now. :3

[–]therestruth 1 point2 points ago

You are welcome. I had just found it an hour prior and felt compelled to share since I had mutual feelings about the first one. There is also another with them in snow with a colorful blue and pink nebula in the background out there.

[–]therestruth 1 point2 points ago

Just stumbled on that calvin and hobbes collection as well. Check it out, there's a better one just like this on there.

[–]Mezza2112 1 point2 points ago

Me and my frient always says this when out in the forest, It should be mandatory on a clear night for people to lie in a field, spark up and gaze in awe.

[–]blooay 0 points1 point ago

On an entirely different note, it would make people incredibly cranky because of sleep deprivation.

[–]Golf16 1 point2 points ago

I few weeks ago me and my freinds would just bake and watch the stars for hours, its great what you see, shooting stars, Moving stars and even stars that flash different colours red green blue etc, its amazing!

[–]Harrowin 0 points1 point ago

... At first glance, I just saw the white fur on Hobbes, and it looked like a penis...

[–]FutureToker 1 point2 points ago

I have been thinking this all day!! Appreciation for life doesn't exist as it should in everyone!

[–]runaway491 1 point2 points ago

each and every night (especially if i smoke) i go out on my roof and look up at the stars, even if its cloudy or cant see them well. if its really clear, every time i look in awe. its the same feeling each time and i love it. it makes me feel like theres something that i have to do here, because its the only thing that i have to do. [7]

[–]sirunclecid 0 points1 point ago

Are you implying that there is an equivalent to it being cloudy outside?

[–]YSCapital 1 point2 points ago

Anyone have the high res version for BG purposes?

[–]alec944 0 points1 point ago

So I never get on facebook and as a result I never got around to adding a cover photo since they force you to use timeline. This is now my cover photo.

[–]pinkfloyddwc 0 points1 point ago

I sometimes lie on the ground after sunset and wait for the first stars to start appearing... Quite relaxing.

Unfortunately I live in las Vegas so I don't see that many stars when it's night :(

[–]seamus522 0 points1 point ago

this is my background on my laptop. i love trees and looking at the stars and just wondering. all good things

[–]omrisml5 0 points1 point ago

The moon and the stars are the only things that join me for my midnight toke sessions.

[–]SkibumJH 0 points1 point ago

Whenever the world seems to hectic and I don't know what to do next, I step outside and take a deep breath and let the natural world flood my senses.

[–]legalizemarijuana 0 points1 point ago

Nothing against Calvin and Hobbes but this post reeks of karma gaming.

[–]InsanityTowel[S] 1 point2 points ago

Karma gaming? Could you explain please i've never heard that.

[–]Safarri 1 point2 points ago

That literally makes no sense
