tasty smoking blends, or maybe make it easier to get stuff down? i dunno.

roommate gave me some afghan mint once, though. i'd put in a smoking blend of like five parts good pot, two parts coltsfoot, two parts mullein, a part of that mint. it'd get down to the bottom of it and be really mint heavy, that shit'd give ya' a hell of a head rush. was kind a weird.

They are for taste and ease of smoke. Both lavender and peppermint is fantastic as part of a changa blend, but excellent with cannabis as well.

Haha, not really. I love collecting them, and do enjoy the ocassional datura leaf thrown into a joint, or some mild mandrake tincture but I have never indulged in a full blow deliriant trip and I doubt I ever will. The solanaceae family really intrigues me though and I have an urge to complete my collection of them.

Would you say that throwing a leaf of datura into a joint is a pleasant experience? I've heard, from everybody, that a full-on datura trip will be a really bad time. Is such a little amount more pleasant?

Yes, most definitely pleasant. It really intensifies the cannabis high, but make sure to use small amounts and build your way up. I once made some hashish/hash oil where I put some datura flowers together with cannabis into acetone and evaporated it onto some herbs. I smoked a tiny(and I mean tiny) amount while tripping on mushrooms, that was NOT a good idea, got a full on panic attack, my vision whited out and lost all sense of balance, that was scary, and I will not do that again.

Same here. I love the solanaceae and have collected and grown many. Tried a proper D. stramonium trip once, and don't think I'll do it again any time soon. The idea of flying ointment intrigues the hell out of me though!

Me too, I have no idea how many hours I have spent researching them. I might make a flying ointment in the future, but I am not sure I will ever indulge in it. The nightshade family really do scare me, but the ethnobotanical history that surrounds them keep me coming back studying them.

      A 100mg or less dose of DPH can be pretty relaxing, and a 300mg/300mg combination of DPH and DXM will give you the deliriant visuals without the dysphoria.

          Nux Vomica is a wonderful stimulant in small doses(50-100mg of seeds). I usually use Nux Vomica a few days a month if I am very tired. Wakes you up without feeling stimulated. Strychnine has been used as medicine for hundreds of years.

          Yes you have to be very careful when using Nux Vomica, but it really is a interesting substance if you are able to be responsible with it. It has been used by olympic athletes and scholars, even Hitler used it as part of his tonics. It shares some similarities with caffeine; http://www.human-existence.com/blog/?p=332

          Yes, I very much enjoy collecting herbs, synthetics are fun, but they don't really hold the same collection value as herbals do in my opinion. The picture is about 3 months old. Both Kava Kava and Kratom has been re-stocked into my collection now ;)

          I notice a certain synergy with cannabis, but there is hardly any noticeable effects when smoked alone. I have however had some fine experiments brewing tea on lotus and damiana :)

          My best experiences have been with tinctures. Put 30-50g of it into wine or spirits and let sit for about a month, shaking it daily. Strain and drink. Relaxing high, in my opinion much better then the alcohol would have been on it's own.

          Scent being the strongest sense tied to memory, I find certain essential oils can really either perk me up or relax me depending on what sort of memories the scent brings me back to. They don't necessarily conjure specific memories, per say but the scents can really spark certain feelings.

          Cinnamon Bark oil is really energizing, especially if taken together with cayenne pepper. Elemi oil seems to give me focus as well. But the ones I use the most are lemon oil to combat nausea and peppermint oil to help clear headaches.

          Search up "oilahuasca" there are some threads out on the internet on the subject. I have had some nice experiences with them, but nothing I would categorize as a full blown trip. More experimentation is needed.

          The collection just kept on growing. I started about 3 years ago and it has evolved steadily since then. The new additions tend to be synthetics as I have trouble finding more interesting herbs. I do not like stimulants or anything that holds a high risk of addiction. I do have some laudanum recently added to the collection, but I keep it's use to a bare minimum, mostly for pain.

          Three of the vials in the wooden box are powdered shrooms of different strains, and I have two more strains ready to be powdered and added to the collection as soon as I make labels for them.

          Changa is basically DMT indused onto different herbs. I have a few different blends to choose from.

          ah very interesting thanks for replying. yes i guess the ultimate challenge is to have a large collection of stimulants, that would prove incredibley hard and you would have to have to have incredible mental strength not to be tempted to keep dipping in. Yes synthetics and the variuos ' research chemicals' are appearing every month so plenty of choices compared to your traditional herbs. theres something exciting about have a colection just for the sake of it, isnt there. have you ventured onto the silk road?that would be like a candy store for you woudnt it lol. some good additions there!

          Yes, the small vials are used mostly when making smoking blends, which they are easily big enough to hold. If I am going to make a tea of them I have bigger jars full of many of the herbs which I use. So in some way they serve as a representative for the collection, but I do use them when mixing joints so they do serve a purpose.

          I have learned everything through countless hours researching on the internet and books. Going through ethnobotanical stores and cross referencing with erowid and books to find out what seemed most interesting.

          The best book on the subject is The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants It contains everything you ever wanted to know about psychoactive herbs.

          Just start collecting small. I have built this collection up over several years.

          I also really enjoy finding the right vials and making nice labels for everything. In fact that is just as fun as getting a hold of the herbs. I have a few herbs lying in zip-lock bags, but they are kept apart from the rest of the collection until I have found a more presentable way to store them :P

              No, not really. I have yet to notice and degradation over the last few years. Every vial is air-tight and they are stored in a cool, dark place. But I mostly have them for collecting purposes anyway. I have used most of it in the past, but now I have so many options there is just no way I can fit everything into my schedule anymore. I tend to go with the classics when I do have time to indulge.

              Wow, this is exactly how I would like my collection to be. The box for the vials are perfect, and the vial tops looks beautiful. I have started to store all of my psychoactives in glass vials because it just feels great pulling out my box of goodies and choosing what I want.

              The were bought separately, amazingly the vials just fit perfectly in the box. The box is from an antique shop, the vials from e-bay.

              I have some laudanum made from opium pods, but I mostly stay away from opiates. My dad was a heroin addict for many years and I have always promised him to stay away from addictive drugs, which is a promise I intend to keep.
