Once upon a time, he was a small baby boy, all laughs and giggling. I wonder what went wrong.

[–]JuanGigsworth 17 points18 points ago

If I try to wonder I will start sobbing. It is really sad and tragic what this world does to some people.

[–]6Bunny 5 points6 points ago

That's actually such a haunting way to put it, it's sad, isn't it.

[–]msmorize 25 points26 points ago

He could be the next comic book villain.

[–]me_gusta760 2 points3 points ago

came here to post that he reminds me of a batman villain, then I saw the album of him grimacing and pain and covered in his own blood.

[–]FuckingDelicious 1 point2 points ago

He actually reminds me of a villain I made up one time for an anime or comic book, but then I couldn't think of a good plotline to use him with. I pictured him with scars all over his face an one blind eye... now I'm creeped.

by image 3 I was convinced he is a real living zombie...

[–]drexlspivy[S] 1 point2 points ago

I was convinced at first glance he had a Reddit-alien antennae on his forehead

[–]PatternOfKnives 13 points14 points ago

kinda amazing how muscular and scary he looks in pic 1 compared to the withered crack addict he looks in the trial pictures

[–]Tattered 10 points11 points ago

Prison food does some damage to your body mass.

Same with becoming a zombie, which is obviously what happened between 1 and 2

[–]daneinthecity 7 points8 points ago

i bet this guy gets laid... tons

[–]bootnuts 21 points22 points ago

By classy, beautiful, smart women.

[–]zenzippo 2 points3 points ago

he probably fucks a lot but doesnt really get laid

[–]SuperSpaze 116 points117 points ago

If we lived in the year 900, this guy would be commander in chief. After he killed all the other potential chiefs. How times have changed.

[–]batrachotoxin 14 points15 points ago

Wait, what?

[–]SuperSpaze 141 points142 points ago

In Norway the rules were as following when becoming a petty King:

You must have some form of claim. (This wassnt strictly necessary)

You can use other peoples claims if they are unwilling to pursue them.

You must have an army to back your claim (this one is the most important one).

You are expected to fight, kill and remove all potential threats to secure your position.

This resulted in only the most brutal and murderous becoming kings. Being a psychopath or completely lacking in empathy for other human beings would in many (most?) cases be a postive or even necessary trait. Also, being threatening and physically intimidating was a big plus to avoid the ol' stabbed while you sleep syndrome that was quite rampant at the time.

Add to all of this the fact that a tattooed quasi-demon would have been seen as powerful, magic and potentially in direct contact with the Gods. And as they saw every victorious battle as being the result of divine support and every loss as a loss of divine support, the tattoed barbarossa deamon with the black eye would probably be in a very good position to get soldiers to side with him rather than his opponent.

I could go on... but I doubt anyone cares.

[–]AMISHassassin 67 points68 points ago

If you want to keep going I'm going to keep reading.

[–]MEngineer001 10 points11 points ago

As will I. Makes for an interesting read.

[–]Xombieshovel -4 points-3 points ago

... AND MY AXE!

On another note, I would totally keep reading too.

[–]SenatorVreenak 26 points27 points ago

An important thing about psychopaths that most people don't really get is that they are charming. They are the friendliest people you will meet. You will not know that you have just brushed with a shark until after your torso is gone.

There are some psychopathy researchers who believe a great deal of politicians and business leaders are psychopaths.

There are some psychopathy researchers who believe a great deal of politicians and business leaders are psychopaths.

I'm intrigued. What research?

[–]Harmless_Overdose 8 points9 points ago

The journalist/writer Jon Ronson, who wrote the book and subsequent movie 'The Men Who Stare At Goats', wrote a very interesting book called 'The Psycopath Test' where he looked down the road of psycopathy, as it is defined in the DSM-IV book. He did a TED talk which basically goes over the highlights of the book, but obviously some bits are left out which help explain a fair bit of it - quite an interesting read. Here's the video: Jon Ronson

EDIT He goes in to the bit about psychopathy being more likely at the high of politics / large companies (n.b. still small, around 4% he postulates but I haven't looked at the research behind that)

You can also check out Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go to Work by Paul Babiak and Robert D. Hare.

[–]meeeow 0 points1 point ago

Thank you!

[–]meeeow 0 points1 point ago

This is awesome thank you, I actually really disliked The Men Who Stared At Goats when I fisrt watched it, maybe I'll give it another chance.

[–]Harmless_Overdose 2 points3 points ago

The book is really different to the movie in my opinion, I wouldn't write it off too quickly (book pun, boo-yah)

[–]jpowell180 2 points3 points ago

[–]imgonnacallyouretard 1 point2 points ago

Why would psychopaths be overbearingly friendly? They can analyze social cues and parrot them, so why wouldn't they understand that most people are not overbearingly charming?

[–]staithe 4 points5 points ago

No one said psychopaths are overbearingly friendly or charming, they just seem to be genuinely friendly and charming. Because they analyze social cues and parrot them they have a certain advantage in presenting themselves and manipulating others. Despite all this, not all psychopaths are criminal masterminds; many are normal, simple-minded people.

[–]AngryWeasels 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of that guy who spoke about interviewing a corporate executive for a psychopath test, but had to hide the fact by calling it ''a special way your brain works'' He said that being a psychopath can be very beneficial as a business person, being charming, ruthless and having no qualms with lying.

[–]Hellzapoppin 6 points7 points ago

Very engagingly written, where would you recommend I look to learn more?

[–]OGrilla 4 points5 points ago

I want to read more, too, please.

[–]waitingtoexpatriate 3 points4 points ago

I kind of love you for these two comments. I have something fun to think about for the rest of the day now.

[–]shenpen -2 points-1 points ago

This resulted in only the most brutal and murderous becoming kings. Being a psychopath or completely lacking in empathy for other human beings would in many (most?) cases be a postive or even necessary trait.

I must disagree. This is the usual pessimistic misunderstanding of history. Why would an army follow an umempathic psychopath who would keep all the spoils for himself? An army would follow a man who is at least halfway good and just: ruthless with his enemies and robbing them, but also distributing the spoils of war among his soldiers and paying them well for their service and generally treating them well, fairly and justly.

I mean Plato already wrote even a band of robbers can only be efficient as they are just: if they are perfectly unjust they just kill each other over the spoils.

[–]SuperSpaze 3 points4 points ago

Being a psychopath does not mean one issnt charming, well spoken, affluent, sympathetic (albeit in a shallow way) and friendly. But clearly my impromptu "analysis" was mostly aimed at the more tribal parts of europe that had not enjoyed the luxuries of greek or roman influences.

[–]shenpen 0 points1 point ago

Yes, but no matter how charming a leader is, if he actually doesn't treat his troops fairly, he is going to have problems. And it was precisely in the most barbaric parts that had the least "power distance" - where a king was more like a first among equals amongst the elite like jarls, nobility, etc. and not some kind absolute ruler i.e. the most vulnerable to defection and mutiny from the nobility.

[–]SuperSpaze 3 points4 points ago

The system of allegiance between the farmers, the nobility (grand farmers) and the king is complex enough to deserve an entire thread of discussion in and of itself. Also, my english issnt good enough for me to be able to properly write an essay on this, especially not after an of-the-cuff comment on reddit.

But I never said anything about a leader not being fair to his troops. In fact I think being the most brutal leader was a positive trait as it involves your enemies fearing you, your troops respecting you, your tribe supporting you and the religious believing in your divine support as all your enemies lie dead before them.

[–]drewson87 0 points1 point ago

There's a graveyard full of Roman emperors and usurpers who didn't want to pay their troops what they thought they deserved. At one point the Praetorian guard actually auctioned off the throne. Then they killed the guy when he didn't pay up all the way.

[–]Calimhero 5 points6 points ago

The world in 900 AD was not ruled by mindless brutes. Intellect was the decisive factor even then. That being said, this man impresses me. I would give him my wallet.

[–]bombos 2 points3 points ago

Nowhere did he say mindless brutes. Conjurer.

[–]LunchMasterFlex 16 points17 points ago

He tattooed the white of his right eye. This man is frightening.

[–]spookypen 60 points61 points ago

"I better not get the left side tattooed, you know, just in case I still wanna get a job or something later on."

[–]RYDIARYDIARYDIA 24 points25 points ago

He could work in a toll booth.

[–]pokeyjones 18 points19 points ago

Just imagined him smartly dressed at an interview doing exceedingly well. He gets the job and after a congratulatory handshake he turns revealing old skool hardcore levels of creep.

[–]cruelladekill 14 points15 points ago

I probably should have asked this when pictures of him were on the front page, but does anyone know what's up with his right eye? Curious if it's an injury or a cosmetic modification

[–]reynoljg 37 points38 points ago

Looks like he had his eye tattooed black.

[–]god_of_tits_an_wine 9 points10 points ago

Jesus fucking christ, how does such thing exist...

[–]rmandraque 6 points7 points ago

Looks bad ass...too bad ass for regular people though.

[–]cruelladekill 5 points6 points ago

Yuck. Thanks :P

[–]selflessGene 6 points7 points ago

I'd watch a reality show of this guy in prison.

[–]coppersink 6 points7 points ago

This dude has shivs in his future. Either in his hand or his kidney. One of the two.

[–]W_Edwards_Deming 3 points4 points ago

Could be both

[–]Unboundbigstick 12 points13 points ago

So this is my cousin on my mothers fathers side and it looks like he won't make it to the family reunion this year....

[–]nachocapac 9 points10 points ago

Sadness in his eyes

[–]uhhhhoh 4 points5 points ago

Sadness in his eye

[–]jimethn 5 points6 points ago

[–]GodTroller 5 points6 points ago

[–]elijah_bs 1 point2 points ago

Now I do

[–]Roderick111 3 points4 points ago

I have the feeling that this is not a man to be trifled with.

[–]DerJesus 2 points3 points ago

It looks like his third eye is wincing. Nice.

[–]shutupandjuuj 0 points1 point ago

I know someone who's going jail!

[–]GenPhysician 1 point2 points ago

This is the kind of guy that becomes a Christian in prison.

He's all tough on the outside world, but stuck in a world with badasses who aren't intimidated by some ink on the face, he will have to find another way.

[–]berocks 3 points4 points ago

Can't imagine that he'll win any points with a jury or judge based on his appearance.

[–]dxtrvspr 3 points4 points ago

Why can't I find any information or news about this man on the googles?

[–]sercher 0 points1 point ago

Oppa Barnham style.

[–]EastVegas 1 point2 points ago

Ultra-cool motherfucker.

[–]IvannaNukem 1 point2 points ago

He has an eye for tattoos.

[–]Milkthiev 1 point2 points ago

From what I have heard, eyeball tattoos are not painful at all.

[–]andymacccc 1 point2 points ago

Him? No way..

[–]Gyrant 1 point2 points ago

What did he do to his left eye?

[–]golfswingviewer 2 points3 points ago

He decided to move it to the middle of his forehead.

[–]weaselstomp 1 point2 points ago

Higher quality [1200x820]

[–]cuddly_snuffleupagus 1 point2 points ago

what happened to his eye? is that intentional?

[–]6Bunny 1 point2 points ago

He looks like a nice guy.

[–]SkyWulf 0 points1 point ago

It bothers me that I think he looks beautiful.

[–]hherbzilla -1 points0 points ago

Oops. I initially read this as Jason Bateman.

[–]Pocket_Ben -1 points0 points ago

That's where I live. Does this make me reddit famous?

[–]thetheist 2 points3 points ago

"allegedly" is implied by the fact that he's on trial. You don't say somebody is on trial for "alleged murder". You say they're on trial for murder.

[–]evan331212 -4 points-3 points ago

Police officer shot = he's bad guy automatically. Police officer shoots citizen = self defense.

[–]taboo_ -2 points-1 points ago

GUILTY!

I dont know what of but he's definitely guilty for it.
